Bay of Love in Crimea: in the world of romance and monkeys. Bay of Love in the fishing village in Crimea Bay of Love Fishing
They say that the unity of loving people is impossible unless they go through some romantic test together. It is quite possible that such a test for lovers will be a walk along the Crimean coast, namely to the Bay of Love. The spirit of romance simply hovers around this place, and local residents claim that due to the complex geological setting, only true lovers can get to it!
Geographical location of the Bay of Love in Crimea
The inaccessibility of this place is not a myth. Just look at the map or watch numerous videos of the Bay of Love in Crimea, and you will understand that it is not for nothing that local residents call the path to this harbor a test.
A small bay is located between the Crimean villages of Malorechenskoye and Rybachye, located a few kilometers from the bustling tourist town of Alushta. To get here, you need to try very, very hard, because there is no straight and smooth road. So, immediately postpone your trip by car - not a single land vehicle will be able to overcome a series of rocks and large boulders.
The only option to get there by land is to follow the tourist route yourself. But remember that this task is far from the easiest due to the rugged terrain of the rocks. Therefore, be patient, show skill, and also buy a pair of strong boots with thick soles.
If you do not consider yourself one of the daredevils and are wary of any risk, then you should take the easier route - rent a yacht or motor boat that will take you to the Bay of Love in a matter of minutes. Physically strong people can get here by swimming or rowing, but this happens less often.
Once you arrive, you will be generously rewarded with amazing landscapes, a magical seascape and a warm sea, which, due to the characteristics of the seabed, turns transparent blue in sunny weather.
How did the Bay of Love appear on the Crimean coast?
Not only the nature of this place and its atmosphere are romantic, but also the history of the emergence of a quiet haven for lovers. If you look at it from above, it is not difficult to notice that the outlines of the coast are incredibly clear and resemble a semi-oval shape. This is no coincidence, since the Bay of Love is part of the crater of an ancient volcano. The second half of the vent is hidden under water. The volcano has long been quiet, so it does not pose any danger.
What does Love Bay offer tourists?
In the vicinity of Alushta, the Bay of Love is considered one of the most striking attractions, so you should not assume that when you get here you will find yourself on an uninhabited stretch of coastal land. The legend about this place is very popular, so there is a high probability that other couples in love will be here with you.
By the way, due to the difficulties of getting here, as well as due to its relative privacy, this bay has been chosen by topless sunbathers. So don't be surprised if there's a couple of naked romantics in your neighborhood.
Among the resorts of Crimea, the Bay of Love is also chosen because it is an excellent place for underwater excursions. Experienced and novice divers eagerly go on underwater excursions, during which they can see the remains of preserved underwater volcanic rock, colorful inhabitants of the Crimean fauna and bright underwater vegetation.
There is another tourist attraction here - an underwater rock, which in its outline resembles the silhouette of a monkey. The Bay of Love was once called “Monkey Bay”. But there is another opinion about this name: people simply walking through steep cliffs look like monkeys climbing palm trees.
What should you be prepared for?
The Bay of Love in Crimea is not only a beautiful, but also a treacherous place. If you want to stay here overnight, be prepared for strong gusts of wind and waves that can reach the rocks. You can hide from them in a small cave above. It would also be a good idea to take firewood with you, since the sparse vegetation of this stretch of land is not suitable for lighting a fire.
Bay of Love
In the village of Rybachye there is an amazing attraction - a secluded corner of the Bay of Love, left over from an extinct volcano.
Photos
Not far from Alushta is the village of Rybachye. Tourists love it for its picturesque nature and the opportunity to relax quietly away from the noise of a large resort. There is an amazing place here where all lovers consider it their duty to visit.
The Bay of Love got its name due to its difficult accessibility and privacy. It is quite difficult to get to it - a thin path leads along slippery rocks. A breathtaking panorama opens up from above: a semicircle of a bay with perfectly clear water, like a separate little world for lovers.
Walk to the Bay
Love Bay is part of the crater of a long-extinct volcano, the small crater of which can still be seen at the end of the path. Its depth is no more than one and a half meters. The funnel is perfectly round, as if drawn by a human hand, lined with white stone.
The bay is closed on all sides by impassable high rocks, which prevents small waves from entering here. The sea off the coast is crystal clear, swimming here and diving into the depths is a pleasure.
A small strip of the beach is strewn with small and large stones; it is uncomfortable to sit and sunbathe here. Couples in love come here who believe that, having overcome the difficult road to the Bay of Love, they will seal their union for many years.
Descending to the attraction through the rocky chaos is quite dangerous. The slates slip under your feet and you can easily fall off and get injured. When going for a walk, you should definitely think about comfortable shoes that will reliably protect your limbs.
It is easier to get to Love Bay in another way - by swimming or on a rented boat or speedboat. The path from the sea makes it possible to see the creation of nature from an original side, which is not accessible to everyone. From here you can see the rocky chaos and surrounding greenery.
The bay is a real paradise for divers. Hidden under the thick clear water are many passages and tunnels, bizarre rocks and the remains of sunken ships. Here you can find amazing thickets of algae, large crabs and strange fish. All this attracts scuba diving enthusiasts and thrill seekers.
The Bay of Love is a worthy place in Big Alushta, where you should definitely visit when you come here on vacation.
Location on the map
One of the most romantic corners in Crimea is located between the villages of Malorechenskoye and Rybachye. The picturesque Bay of Love is hidden from prying eyes and in order to get into it, you need to overcome stone chaos and go through many other tests. They say that only hearts that truly love each other reach heaven by land. Others can get to the bay by swimming or by boat.
There is no place more suitable for a romantic adventure than Love Bay. It got its name because of its inaccessibility and extraordinary virgin beauty. The path to this piece of paradise on foot is difficult, so many people rent a small boat or boat to get to their cherished goal. Diving enthusiasts and people with good sports training get there by swimming.
However, a real adventure awaits those who dare to overcome impassable obstacles and go to the Bay of Love by land. By the way, when going on an extreme tour, do not forget to take care of comfortable, non-slip shoes.
The journey should start from the beach located in the vicinity of Rybachy. Travelers moving along the path will soon be greeted by a “surprise” - stone chaos in the form of a pile of boulders of different sizes. For some, the journey ends at this point. The most persistent ones need to stock up on courage and patience and start climbing up. Then the next test is a narrow goat path, winding dangerously among the rocks. The descent from the top is no less exciting. Balancing between a cliff and a polished rock mass, you will have to move slowly and extremely carefully until the final goal is reached.
Those who overcome stone barriers and traps will be rewarded - a perfectly round bay, surrounded by picturesque rock formations and washed by crystal clear sea water. Mountain ledges shelter lonely trees and bushes, and steep slopes become a refuge for capers. Delicate white and pink flowers of this bindweed gracefully entwine harsh stones. The bay is bordered by rocks, so the water here is warmer than on the beaches of Rybachy. It’s not for nothing that divers have chosen this area. The transparent water abounds with a variety of living creatures, and piles of stones have formed mysterious grottoes and arches under the water. One of these piles resembles a monkey in outline, which is why the second, less popular name of the bay is Monkey.
The geological origin of the bay is interesting. In ancient times, there was a volcano in its place. The Bay of Love is nothing more than its integral part. Not far from the path leading to the bay, you can find a miniature vent. The diameter of the funnel is no more than 3 meters, and the depth is less than 2 meters.
The small pebble beach is a great place to soak up the sun. The local sunrises and sunsets are incredibly beautiful. The lovers meet them on a rock protruding from the water not far from the shore. True, sometimes nudists gather in the Bay of Love, so before traveling it doesn’t hurt to find out if there are free places there.
No matter how wonderful the romantic nights in Love Bay are, its guests should remember that the tent should be pitched as far as possible from the surf line. A sudden storm can blow your “hut of happiness” into the sea overnight. During bad weather, the waves are so strong that they overwhelm high rock ledges. But don’t despair or panic if bad weather takes you by surprise. In Love Bay there is a secluded place where you can hide - a small cave located just above the beach.
If you are going to spend several days in the Bay of Love, do not forget to take, in addition to food, drinking water, as well as a compact gas burner. Making a fire here is very problematic, because to collect brushwood you will have to climb the slope again.
By the way, there is a bay with the same name on Tarkhankut. It is also called the cup or saucer of Love because it is shaped like a heart.
Why is Crimea attractive for vacationers? Naturally, the warm sea combined with hot weather in the summer. Another highlight of the peninsula is the Crimean mountains and the landscape they create. It is not surprising that the Bay of Love beach, even despite its difficult accessibility, is popular among resort guests, since vacationers can easily find a combination of all the necessary factors there:
clear, warm sea,
cliffs surrounding a secluded stretch of beach,
unique Crimean nature.
Who would be interested in the Bay of Love beach?
First of all, people who prefer to relax in the wild, with a crystal clear sea on one side and steep and very picturesque cliffs on the other.
The seabed near the beach is fraught with many natural locations that will certainly interest divers. Most of them are located at shallow depths, so this is a very suitable place for inexperienced lovers of diving.
Considering the inaccessibility of the beach, as well as the many options for privacy, this place was chosen by nudists. These two factors (not the easiest way to get to the place and the presence of naked people) should be considered before taking children with you.
The presence of complex rocks also attracts professional rock climbers to the beach, who often set up their camp in this place.
Note to tourists
What other secrets does the Bay of Love beach hide? Not far from the shore in the water there is a stone on which couples in a romantic mood like to meet the sunrise or see the sun beyond the horizon. It was this attraction of the beach that became the reason for the name of the secluded bay.
The surrounding rocks, nicknamed “cheese”, deserve special attention, as they very much resemble this product with their color and abundance of holes.
The bay itself was formed in ancient times, when a small volcano was active in this place. Its mouth can be found in close proximity to the path leading to the beach - it is a small funnel with a diameter of three meters and a depth of two meters.
Beach “Bay of Love” - how to get there
The journey to the “Bay of Love” is no less interesting than its goal itself. There are two ways to get to the desired place: from Simferopol or Feodosia.
The option from the capital of the peninsula is usually chosen by those people who entered the peninsula through the air gates of Crimea or stopped on vacation in its western part. The route is really very interesting:
Leave Simferopol towards Yalta. Along the way you will meet a lot of interesting things. For example, the picturesque Simferopol reservoir, Angarsk Pass. The Marble and Red Caves will be located in close proximity to the route.
When entering Alushta, you should turn onto the highway going towards Sudak. Then again there will be a road among the Crimean mountains, to the right of which you can sometimes admire the sea.
The Bay of Love beach will be located approximately in the middle between two villages: Malorechenskoye and Rybachye.
From Feodosia the road will also be full of different impressions:
You should leave the city in a western direction and, immediately after the village of Nasypnoye, turn south towards Sudak.
The route that will eventually lead to Rybachy is no less interesting than the option offered from Simferopol: this includes Koktebel, the Karadag Nature Reserve, and Sudak, other attractions of the southern coast of Crimea.
The journey becomes even more interesting when it is time to leave the bus or personal vehicle, since you will have to get to the beach on foot, climbing steep rocks and descending into small abysses, carefully moving along winding paths between huge boulders and cliffs into the sea.
But the journey is worth it.
By the way, there is an alternative way to get to the bay. To do this, it is enough to rent a boat or motorboat in one of the nearest settlements.
There are often places on the planet that attract tourists not only with their beauty, but also with their inaccessibility. Overcoming obstacles helps to increase self-confidence and faith in one's own capabilities. Crimea is also rich in such corners. Bay of Love is one of them. It is not very easy to get here, but those who can do it will find true harmony.

Bay of Love on the map of Crimea
A little history of its appearance
The bay was formed as a result of the action of a small volcano. Now everyone who happens to visit here pays attention to the regular semicircular shape of the bay. It represents half of an ancient crater. The second half is underwater. The volcano has not been active for a long time, but divers are able to see its contours at the bottom. For Crimea, such places are a common occurrence, but they do not always turn out to be so well preserved and so picturesque.
Romance and monkeys
These things seem to be incompatible. But the nature of Crimea played such a caustic joke on human ideas. The Bay of Love in Rybachye also has a second name - Monkey. The origin of the first name is as romantic as it is. Getting to the bay is quite difficult. If you move on land, you will have to overcome a rather unpleasant path of stone fragments and difficult stone chaos. It’s easy to swim on water now in good boats and speedboats with motors, but before you had to overcome the surf with oars, or even just by swimming with the strength of your arms and legs.
Of course, only truly romantic natures went to such lengths for the sake of beauty. With monkeys everything is not so clear. Diving enthusiasts claim that under the water in the bay there is a rock very similar to a monkey. Hence, supposedly, the name. But they feel good with masks and scuba gear, but the name appeared quite a long time ago! So more practical people give a different explanation. It’s just that romantics climbing rocks in an attempt to get to the source of high feelings are rather reminiscent of monkeys on a palm tree. So the second name arose.
What attracts tourists to Love Bay?
Today, people enter its territory either by the difficult overland route or by the simpler route - by renting a boat in the village. Really good swimmers manage to get there without any means at hand. The Bay of Love in Rybachye is modest and secluded, but this does not mean that there are no people here at all.
Unhappy lovers who are planning to drown their sorrows in its waters should take into account that on the spot they can meet a whole camp of quite cheerful nudists who can quickly change their worldview. Amateurs also come here in large numbers. Their reviews indicate that the local water is of extraordinary transparency, and the rocks at the bottom are distinguished by their bizarre shapes and the richness of the aquatic detail that inhabits them. Along the banks you can observe another curious phenomenon - the so-called. The stone in such places is porous and really resembles well-aged hard cheese.
All this is the result of both specific erosion and the properties of the rock.
Swimming in the bay is truly wonderful. – small pebbles, and the water is clean. But those who decide to stay here for the night should take into account that the wind from the sea easily blows water into the bay. So it is better to place the tent further away from the shore. It is also important to have a supply of fresh water and something for cooking with you (firewood, dry alcohol, primus stove). Photos confirm that there is a lot of grass and flowers in the bay, there is a small bush, but there is not a lot of firewood. But the bindweed that weaves its slopes is not just grass, but a caper. The same one that is pickled and used as a vegetable additive to various salads.
Land travelers need to take care of comfortable shoes in advance. It is useful to note that the map will only show an approximate route - it is better to get additional advice from local residents. Tourists who are not in the best sports shape are better off not taking risks at all and spending money on a boat in Rybachye. Rock climbing truly requires the dedication of true lovers and the agility of a monkey.
