Aeroflot escort service. Accompanying a child on an airplane: what you need to know. What you need to know
Rules for processing the transportation of unaccompanied children on all routes on Aeroflot’s own flights.
This category includes children under 12 years of age, unaccompanied by parents and not entrusted to any passenger over 12 years of age, who will take care of the child during the entire journey. At the request of parents or guardians, the transportation service for unaccompanied minors can be applied to children under 16 years of age (in this case, transportation will be paid at the usual applicable rate without additional fees).
A child is accepted for transportation if:
- accompanying persons remain with the child at the departure airport until boarding the plane
- the child will be met at the arrival airport
- the child travels one way or round trip on a direct route, or with a transfer at the transit/transfer airport only from international to international and from domestic to domestic flights. Transit/transfer related to border formalities is prohibited
- transportation is carried out only on Aeroflot’s own scheduled flights. Unaccompanied children are not accepted on codeshare flights operated under code-share agreements with Aeroflot's marketing participation.
When reserving a seat, parents or a guardian must fill out and sign an application for the carriage of an unaccompanied child and a declaration of responsibility in six copies, which indicates detailed information about the departure/arrival - who is accompanying/meeting, addresses, telephone numbers, flight details (forms of these documents - see below).
- the first copy of this document remains with the parents
- the second copy is confiscated upon check-in and remains at the departure airport
- the third copy is given to the flight attendant responsible for serving the child on board
- the fourth copy is handed over by the flight attendant to the airline representative (agent) at the transit/transfer airport
- the fifth copy is handed over by the flight attendant to the airline representative (agent) at the point of arrival
- the sixth copy remains with the child throughout the flight
When booking, additionally indicate the names and contacts of those seeing you off and meeting you.
Transportation of unaccompanied children under 12 years of age is paid at the full adult fare, unless otherwise specified in the rules for applying the relevant fare.
According to Article 20 of the Law of the Russian Federation “On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation”, adopted by the State Duma on July 18, 1996, children under 18 years of age who are flying unaccompanied by parents, adoptive parents, guardians or trustees must have a notarized consent to leave from these persons . In case of departure for a period of more than 3 months, this consent must also be certified by the guardianship and trusteeship authorities in the manner established by the government of the Russian Federation. On the back of the ticket it is necessary to make a note, signed by the person purchasing the ticket, about the presence of a power of attorney.
A power of attorney is required even if one of the parents is traveling with the child. In this case, a power of attorney from the other parent is required.
When registering groups of children from other cities of Russia and it is impossible to present powers of attorney when purchasing tickets, the organization that is engaged in issuing tickets must provide a guarantee of the availability of powers of attorney from their parents, which is also recorded on the back of the ticket of the head of the group of children.

Thanks to the service of accompanying children on an airplane, you don’t have to worry about how to send your child to study, to grandma or just friends in another city or country. Before deciding to send your child on a trip this way, familiarize yourself with the nuances of the service.
Who can use the service
As a rule, the option is available for ordering a ticket for children from 5 to 12 years old. Some airlines allow such tickets to be issued to teenagers from 16 years of age to adulthood.
How to arrange support
Registration is permitted to the child's official representatives: guardians, trustees, parents and adoptive parents.
Note! Registration by brothers or sisters or grandparents is not permitted.
Before booking tickets, check whether the airline provides this service, as not everyone supports this feature. You must book your ticket no later than 36 hours before departure.. This is due to the fact that the company allocates places for children in advance. As a rule, from four to six places are designed for these needs. Also, when purchasing, immediately indicate that you intend to use support.
It is also important to choose direct flights without transfers. If you need to travel to the next point of departure, the carrier refuses to provide the service. The service will be provided if the transfer is made at the same airport.
What to do if you want to send your child abroad? Accompaniment can only be issued if the parent provides a statement stipulating his permission for the child to travel. The document must be presented to the airport in original and must be certified by a notary.
Required documents
If you wish to arrange a flight for your child, you must provide the following documents:
- metric certificate;
- internal passport;
- foreigner for flights to other countries;
- the itinerary receipt can be provided both in printed form and electronically;
- when traveling abroad, medical insurance is also included;
- visa;
- an extract from the illness card or a prescription from the attending physician, if the child is bringing medications with him.
When registering for the service, the parent also fills out a number of papers provided by the airline. This includes data:
- About parents and their child;
- Contacts for communication;
- Information about who will meet the child.
Airline employees can help you fill out the documents.
Service cost
The ticket will cost 100% of the adult fare. This pricing policy is supported by most Russian and foreign airlines. Not long ago the rules of the S7 carrier changed. Since 2016, the company has been charging an additional fee for the service provided.
Now they will charge 3,000₽ for Russian flights and 50 EUR for foreign trips. Accordingly, sending a child to grandma in Russia will cost 6,000 rubles round trip, and 100 EUR abroad.
For example, the Utair company does not charge additional money for transportation; Aeroflot has had similar fees for several years.
What is included in the service
Accompanying a child on an airplane includes supervising him during the entire flight, landing and arrival at the destination. Let's look at each stage in more detail.
Departure
The first stage is accompanied by the issuance of a cover sheet at the airport building. The document contains information about the flight attendant who will supervise the young traveler. Data about the employee who will meet the child at the destination is also entered there.
Each child is given a bag containing an accompanying sheet. According to airline regulations, it should be hung around your neck and kept until the end of the flight.
At the airport, an accompanying person - an airline employee - helps the child go through all stages of check-in. He checks his luggage and escorts him on board. In this case, children are escorted into the cabin to board earlier than other passengers.
In airplane
During the entire flight, the flight attendant bears full responsibility for the safety of the child. Her responsibilities include helping to buckle up and explain the rules of behavior on the plane. Employees are trained to communicate with young children, answer their questions, and provide play sets for children. If necessary, a staff member will take the child to the toilet.
When the plane comes in to land and the passengers are getting ready to leave, the flight attendant takes the children out of the cabin last.
Additionally, you can include baby food. This will save time on getting ready, and you also won’t have to put liquid in your son or daughter’s hand luggage. Fresh and healthy food for children is provided on board.
Arrival
After arriving at the destination airfield, the airline representative is required to check the identity of the person meeting you. The child will be transferred only after being convinced that the receiving party is the person who was announced upon departure.
There are situations when they don’t come to meet the child. In this case, the airline contacts the parents and clarifies how to proceed. If the greeter is delayed, staff will stay with the child until the person reaches the airport.
Flights with transfers require that a company employee be assigned to the child at each stage of the trip. While waiting between flights, the child will be taken to a playroom or VIP room, where he can relax or have a snack.
Accompanying children on different airlines
Depending on the airline, the conditions of escort and the cost of air travel may vary. Let's consider several popular carriers and the nuances of providing the service.
S7
Features of support in S7:
- After small passengers board the plane, an S7 employee notifies parents.
- In situations where it is not possible to contact the meeting person or the child’s parents/guardians/trustees, the last resort is to send him to the departure airport under the supervision of airport staff.
- The list of documents is identical to those listed in the “required documents” section. You can make an application and complete it at S7 offices or at the Contact Center.
- The application for transportation, which is issued in offices or at the airport, must be signed by the parents.
- For international flights, a notarized consent from both parents for departure must indicate the timing of the child’s departure from the country, as well as the destination - the country to which the child is going.
- In S7, the service can be purchased for children from 5 to 16 years old. It is not available to teenagers 17 and 18 years old.
Russia
In the Russian company, the age limits are even stricter. Children from five to 12 years old are accepted. However, at the request of the child's representatives, the company can provide accompanied travel for children under 16 years of age. Who can apply for transportation?
- parents;
- guardians;
- adoptive parents;
- trustees.
In "Russia" escort is also subject to an additional fee. In this case, a ticket for a child must be issued at 100% payment, without benefits.
Children are accepted on board if they can provide a confirmed advance ticket reservation, as well as a receipt for payment of the escort service.
With the Rossiya company, you can register a child for an accompanied flight only at the check-in counter, unlike other air carriers, where the service can be arranged in all kinds of offices and branches.
Important! The child's representative accompanying him to the airport building must be there until the plane actually takes off from the airfield.
Aeroflot
The company accepts children for transportation with a flight attendant aged from 5 to 16. The airline strongly requires that in case of traveling abroad, check with the official representative office of the country the requirements and current legislation. Perhaps there are some restrictions and nuances. For example, providing additional documents.
Aeroflot points out that it cooperates with a number of companies to provide the service. This means that, by agreement, the airlines listed below can transport children with the current Aeroflot regulations. However, age restrictions at partner companies may vary. This information should be checked on the website. Partners:
- Rossiya (flights SU5950-SU6999);
- Adria Airways;
- Bulgaria Air;
- Aurora (flights SU5400 - SU5799);
- Air Baltic.
The company's personnel undertakes to assume responsibilities for the child's registration, while on board, as well as during connecting flights.
Small passengers are allowed to carry baggage according to the ticket fare plan. When accompanied, a ticket is purchased as for an adult passenger and is paid 100%. Children's discounts do not apply to the service.
How much does the service itself cost? The company has set the following tariffs:
- For flights operating within cities of the Russian Federation, the fee will be RUB 3,400;
- For international flights there is a fee of 40 EUR.
Payment in euros is calculated at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank. The company updates the rate once a week.
Note! During connecting flights, you can order food and drink for your child.
The table shows prices for additional meals while waiting for the next plane:
Discounts do not apply to additional meals while waiting. Payment for international flights is also carried out at the current rate of the Central Bank of Russia.
The person indicated in the application who will meet the child provides an identification document. In this case, it is necessary to have a photograph for verification by the flight attendant.
Unlike other companies, at Aeroflot the child is not given a handbag with an accompanying sheet, but a plastic tablet. It contains the same employee information as other carriers. The tablet with documents is placed on the child at the time of registration and is not removed until the meeting with an authorized representative at the destination.
Due to safety requirements, children are not provided with seats in the row near the emergency exit.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to send a child to fly alone on an airliner, without parents or guardians. Many well-known airlines offer accompanying children on the plane. By using this service, parents will be calm about the safety of the child, since the staff will tirelessly monitor the young passenger until he arrives at his destination.
Can a child fly without adults?
The peculiarities of the service are that the young passenger receives assistance from airline employees at any stage of the journey. They will help him obtain the necessary travel documents and check in his luggage at the place of departure; he will receive special attention from flight attendants on board the plane, and upon arrival they will control the receipt of his luggage and show him to the greeters.
The service of accompanying a child on an airplane allows parents not to worry about the safety of their child during the flight, since the staff takes full responsibility for the safety of the young passenger.
Children over five years old can travel this way. This service is compulsory for children 5-12 years old. A child at this age cannot fly alone, so the service is mandatory, otherwise the airline may simply refuse to provide a ticket to a child who is flying alone.
Children over 12 years of age can fly alone, unaccompanied by relatives; in this case, registration of an escort service by an airline employee is not mandatory. If desired, escort can be ordered even for a teenager under 16 or 18 years of age (this depends on the airline; some carriers set the maximum age for ordering the “Escort” service – 16 years).
Registration of escort services
If you plan to fly a child without adults, you need to arrange an escort service at least 36 hours before the departure date. Each airliner pre-allocates special seats for children traveling without parents. The number of these seats is limited and rarely exceeds 4-6 seats, so the service must be booked in advance, otherwise the airline may refuse to fly a child without parents due to the fact that the required seats on the plane will already be occupied. Such restrictions are due to the fact that the airline assigns an accompanying person to each young passenger, so the number of seats allocated for children traveling alone must be agreed upon in advance.
Either parents or an official guardian can order the service. Neither distant relatives nor older brothers and sisters can use the service of accompanying a child on an airplane.
When booking or purchasing a child's ticket, an adult must immediately inform that the child is flying alone and needs to be accompanied by an airline employee.
If the flight is international, you can organize a flight without parents only if you have an original document certified by a notary stating that both parents give their permission to take the baby out. Without this document, the baby will not be able to fly alone to another country.
To obtain support services, the following documents are also required:
- Airplane ticket;
- passenger's birth certificate;
- international passport (for international flights only);
- passport (for domestic flights);
- parental consent certified by a notary for the child to travel to another country;
- insurance;
- visa.
If a young passenger has any diseases that require constant use of medications, it is necessary to add to the package of documents a doctor’s statement, which will detail the diagnosis and the names of the medications required to be taken. This is necessary if the passenger takes any medications with him.
Important! When booking an escort, discounts on tickets for children do not apply, so the ticket will cost the full price regardless of the passenger’s age.
When registering for the service, parents will be required to fill out a number of documents indicating the following information:
- detailed information about the passenger;
- information about parents;
- parents' contact details;
- information about the meeting party;
- contact details of the receiving party.
When arranging for accompanying children, airline employees explain in detail all the nuances and features of a child’s flight without parents and tell you in detail how to fill out the necessary documents.
What is included in the service
While waiting to board the plane, throughout the flight, and upon arrival at the destination, the young passenger will be under the control of airline employees.
When processing documents directly at the airport, fill out a cover sheet. This includes information about the company employee who accompanies the child until boarding, as well as the information about the flight attendant who supervises the children during the flight.
The child is also given a special bag with documents, which they are asked to hang around their neck and always keep with them. The accompanying sheet is stored in this bag.
Directly at the airport from which the flight takes place, the passenger is accompanied by an airline employee, whose details are indicated in the accompanying documents. He helps you go through all the checks, checks in your luggage and escorts you on board the plane. As a rule, children without adults board the plane first. Having escorted the young passenger onto the plane, this employee transfers authority to the flight attendant, whose details are indicated on the accompanying sheet. The flight attendant is responsible for the child during the entire flight. The flight attendant will help you buckle up and explain the rules of behavior on the plane. During the flight, she will accompany the child to the toilet, entertain him with educational games and, if necessary, answer all the questions of the young passenger.
Important! Parents must remain in the airport building until the plane takes off.
When the plane arrives, the child is handed over to an airline employee, whose details are entered on the accompanying sheet. This employee will escort your child to the check-in counter without waiting in line and will also help with baggage reclaim. After all formalities have been completed, the employee escorts the passenger to the receiving party. The person who meets the passenger at the place of arrival is required to present a document proving his identity. The child will be released from the responsibility of the airline employee only after the documents of the receiving party are verified with the data specified when processing the documents.
If for any reason the passenger is not met at the place of arrival, the accompanying airline representative contacts the parents to clarify further actions. This employee will remain with the child until a greeter appears, or until a decision is made on further actions in the absence of a greeter.
If the flight involves a transfer, the child will be met at each stage of the flight by airline staff. The details of these employees are indicated on the accompanying sheet. The passenger will spend the time between flights in a special children's lounge, under the supervision of airline personnel.
Registration of services at Aeroflot
Accompanying a child on an airplane has a fixed cost. The cost of the service on Aeroflot aircraft is 3,400 rubles for domestic flights, and 40 euros for international flights.
Important! The escort service is arranged directly at the check-in counter, provided that the young passenger and his parents have all the necessary documents. It is not possible to arrange support remotely.
Aeroflot airlines offer services while waiting for an aircraft during a transfer between flights, but they are paid separately. Cold and hot drinks when waiting for a flight up to 3 hours will cost 400 rubles for domestic flights or 5 euros for international flights. If you have to wait for a flight for more than three hours during a transfer, you can order a hot meal. How much food costs depends on the flight direction. For domestic flights within the Russian Federation on Aeroflot aircraft the cost is 1,700 rubles, for international flights – 20 euros. Additional services are paid in advance when ordering support services.
To wait for boarding, Aeroflot employees accompany children to the children's lounge, where the child can spend time playing games or watching cartoons.
Note to parents. If the baby needs special nutrition, it should be ordered when registering for the service, but no later than 36 hours before departure.
Aeroflot hangs a special plastic tablet with all the documents around the neck of every child who flies alone. Each airline employee accompanying the child on any part of the journey is noted in the accompanying documents. It is important to explain to your child in advance how important it is not to remove or lose this tablet.
The company's flight attendants pay attention to the child during the flight, providing coloring books and other games to keep the young passenger occupied. Flight attendants often play with children and tell them stories to pass the time during the flight.

Thus, when ordering an escort service, parents do not have to worry about the safety of the baby. On each leg of the journey he will be accompanied by a responsible employee of the airline, and during the flight the young passenger will not be bored.
Following numerous requests from passengers, Pobeda Airlines has implemented a new service on board its aircraft - accompanying a child traveling without parents or other persons responsible for him. This helps save parents both budget and time. Children aged 5 to 12 years can travel independently on board the aircraft, but must be accompanied. Cost – 3000 rubles. It should be taken into account that in this case the air ticket is paid in full (usually a 20-30% discount is provided for a child’s ticket).

IMPORTANT: Pobeda Airlines does not transport unaccompanied children under 5 years of age. For a child aged 5 to 12 years, if he is traveling alone, the purchase of the service is mandatory. Teenagers from 12 to 16 years old can fly independently, but if parents wish, they can be supervised for a fee.
How is a child accompanied?
If a small passenger needs to be sent alone by plane to another city in Russia or abroad, you need to prepare a certain package of documents and pay for the service. A prerequisite is that the official accompanying party be at the airport until the departure of the flight and upon arrival the teenager will be handed over by airline employees only to the person whose details are indicated in the documents.
IMPORTANT: according to airline rules, an unaccompanied child is invited to board first.
- Parents or other legal representatives of the minor, after filling out all the documents and registering for the flight, hand him over to a special agent who will be responsible for him. The person in charge helps him with going through security checks, delivering hand luggage and placing him on board the plane.
- After the flight departs, the agent must immediately notify the accompanying persons about this.
- During the flight, flight attendants provide special attention to young passengers, offering entertainment and drinks, and accompanying them to the restroom if necessary. An unaccompanied passenger must be assigned a separate responsible flight attendant.
- After landing, a special receiving agent boards the aircraft. He will help you register, receive and deliver your luggage, and meet with your host. By law, the accompanying agent has the right to hand over a minor passenger only to the person whose name and surname are indicated in the documents.
- If the flight is made with a transfer, then during the connection the responsible employee of the company is next to the accompanying person, helps to go through paper formalities, and provides pre-paid meals if the waiting time is more than three hours.
During the period from the transfer of an unaccompanied person by his parents to the responsible agent until his transfer to the receiving party, Pobeda Airlines bears full responsibility for him.
How to buy an escort service
Sending a small passenger alone on board an airplane, even under supervision, is a serious responsibility. This is an exciting and worrying moment for parents. This step is advisable for a child who has already had experience of air travel with his parents. But situations are different, and this service may be required for one reason or another.
You can pay for an escort service costing 3,000 rubles:
- at the ticket office at the airport;
- through a call center (paid call);
- on the company’s website (when purchasing a ticket, the service is automatically included in the price).
IMPORTANT: The cost of the service is indicated per segment. If you buy a round trip ticket, the service is paid separately for each flight.
Documents for an unaccompanied child
It is advisable to arrive at the airport in advance, as parents or other legal representatives will need to fill out certain paperwork. In addition, you need to collect the necessary package of documents in advance:
- have the passport of the legal representative with you;
- birth certificate (or foreign passport if the flight is made abroad);
- if necessary, a document that certifies the relationship of the child with those accompanying them (certificate of adoption or establishment of guardianship and trusteeship);
- visa, if required;
- official permission of the parents (one of the legal representatives) to transport a minor, certified by a notary. The document must indicate the approximate travel dates and countries to be visited.
At the airport, before checking in for a flight, parents must write an Application for the carriage of an unaccompanied child and fill out an Application, which indicates detailed information about the accompanying party, the passenger and the receiving party.
IMPORTANT: the greeter must also have a document proving his identity.
It is often necessary to send children to another city to visit relatives or on vacation. Usually, they themselves tolerate independent travel easily, since they feel great responsibility and significance of the situation. Parents will undoubtedly be nervous about sending their child alone on a plane. However, when ordering an escort service, you should not worry about the well-being of the child. Flight attendants are attentive to unaccompanied children, agents help them in everything from the beginning of boarding to handing him over to the person meeting him. The escort service allows you to significantly save on the cost of a ticket for an accompanying person and on time if parents or legal representatives work or for some other reason cannot travel.
