Things to do on Fremont Street. The best time to walk in this area is after dark. As darkness falls, there are even more tourists here, the music is loud, people are walking back and forth, and the bars and casinos are packed to capacity. Previously, the Strip seemed to me to be the noisiest and most crowded street, but that was not the case! When we walked around Fremont, I got the feeling that all of Las Vegas had gathered here.
You won’t have to look for a place where you can have a couple of glasses for a long time - they are found here at every turn. But we didn’t go to the bar, but instead walked around a bit, simultaneously looking at the neon symbols of old Vegas, of which there were many gathered here: for example, these ladies cabaret dancers.
Another reason to come here in the evening is the free concerts of singers and various groups, for which there is a stage next to the 4 Queens Hotel. In addition, you can gaze at street performers - mimes, magicians, artists, “living statues” and other personalities. I have collected a small collection of similar photographs! Las Vegas is not that surprising yet.
But the most famous and most interesting feature of Fremont Street is Freemont Street Experience– a giant screen 460 meters long, located in the form of a canopy over the street. This project, developed by LG Electronics, is unique and one of a kind. The screen accommodates more than 12 million LED displays, which are controlled by 10 computers at once. Usually during the day it shows images in the style of “colored lines, butterflies-flowers-maple leaves-all sorts of advertising”, and in the evenings it turns into a grandiose video show to the music of DJ Tiesto, The Doors and other performers. But despite its popularity since 1995, the city, like the street, began to suffer from an outflow of residents, tourists and gambling enthusiasts. Especially in order to somehow attract tourists to the city, the Fremont Street Experience was built on this street. Essentially, this is an open-air cinema, or rather a dome-like roof over the street, onto which advertising and various videos are projected. So what does Fremont Street offer us today?
Pedestrian part
This entire street, which stretches for several blocks, is pedestrian, which means you can relax, stroll around and look around without fear of checking your insurance in action. To be honest, I expected more from this street. In fact, it turned out to look like some kind of train station, where people scurry back and forth, beggars cluster around, cheap souvenirs are sold, and citizens cut off from the world dance. However, there is still something interesting here!
Fremont Street Experience
Andryusiks and I made a big mistake by coming here during the day, because Vegas is a huge glowing ball that you have to look at in the dark. So the evening and night Fremont offers a breathtaking spectacle called Fremont Experience. It turned out that the dome over the western part of the street, covering almost 500 meters of its length, was not made to save tourists from the scorching sun. It is a system of several million displays that display video shows at night, absolutely free of charge. They show concerts, broadcast all sorts of interesting events and other entertaining events. You can see the show from six in the evening until midnight at the beginning of each new hour.
As I already mentioned, it was on Fremont Street that the first Las Vegas casino. They are still here today. The most famous are Golden Nugget, Golden Gate and Binion’s Horseshoe.
Today they are no longer so popular among tourists who prefer the giant complexes on the Strip, so visitors have to be lured in by all possible means. For example, starting rates in Fremont are lower than in Strip casinos, you can buy cheap alcoholic drinks in Fremont bars (there are advertisements everywhere offering to try a Margarita cocktail for 99 cents), and you can find cheap hotel rooms.
Thanks to all the tricks, local casinos are far from empty, although the contingent is quite peculiar in some places.
Bars
The numerous bars located along the street do not go unnoticed either. Everything is as usual here - shiny bottles, cute glasses and attractive bartenders. Somewhere there are boys, somewhere there are girls, dancing behind the counter or right on it. They smile and offer drinks designed to warm up the spirit of excitement in Vegas visitors.
Souvenirs
Here, without going far, you can buy souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones. There are apparently no such souvenir shops in Las Vegas. The assortment is monotonous - T-shirts with all kinds of inscriptions, three or four pieces for ten dollars, mugs, keychains, figurines, postcards and other little things.
