Costa Adeje is a prestigious resort in the south of Tenerife. Hotels in Costa Adeje, Spain Resort with an impeccable reputation
In which only about 43 thousand people live. But in fact, the climatic and natural conditions here are such that it offers the sophisticated tourist hundreds of opportunities for relaxation, entertainment and knowledge of the world. In this regard, Adeje is a unique resort city in the Canary Islands.
Information about Adeje, Tenerife
A large resort area has now formed around the town, where Europeans like to relax. The tourism boom on the southern coast of Tenerife - in Costa Adeje - began in the middle of the last century, since then hundreds of the best 4 * and 5 * hotels, entertainment theme parks have been built here, landscaped beaches have been organized and the best tourist walking routes have been mapped.
Nature, as one would expect, has added unusual adventures to the list - in the coastal waters of Adeje, real whales, which have laid their migration route near Tenerife, often give performances.
Another important information for Russian tourists is that in Adeje there is the center of the Russian Orthodox Church of all the Canary Islands - the Orthodox Sretensky Parish.
Adeje weather
Like almost everywhere else in the south and southeast of Tenerife, Adeje experiences a warm, late spring state almost all year round. The average annual air temperature at the resort is + 24 C!
Sights and interesting places in Adeje
Adeje has a rich history that dates back to the times of the Spanish conquistadors. Confirmation of these words awaits you at every step - the ancient historical center, centuries-old architectural monuments - a defensive fort, the Church of St. Ursula... The modern "tricks" of the resort city - long gently sloping volcanic beaches, the Siam Park water park and the sports city port - are popular with travelers most.
Beaches of Adeje
In Adeje, along the long coastline of Costa Adeje, there are as many as 14 beaches with sand of various shades. In such comfortable beach apartments you can relax all year round - the temperature is +24ºC and there is a lot of sun! The top five included:
Playa del Duque
City beach offering the highest level of service. Marked with the Blue Flag for cleanliness and environmental friendliness, it is covered with white sand.
Playa del Fañabé
Marked with the Blue Flag for cleanliness, it is covered with white sand, has all the necessary beach infrastructure, offers calm seas and walks along the beautiful city promenade.
Playa de Troya
In fact, there are two beaches with this name: Troy I and Troy II. These are the main beaches of the city of Adeje. Covered with gray volcanic sand, they have all the beach infrastructure, ideal for family holidays and water hobbies.
Playa de los Cristianos
There is a calm ocean, golden sand and all the necessary infrastructure for sunbathing, water sports and recreation.
Playa de Torviscas
One of the largest urban white sand beaches on Costa Adeje. A calm, quiet area for sunbathing and water activities. The ocean here is calm, since the swimming area is separated by breakwaters; for a quality holiday, there is also all the necessary infrastructure (beach equipment, restaurants, cafes, sanitary areas, etc.). Next to it is Fanabe beach, which is one of the busiest beaches in the south of Tenerife .
Diving in Adeje
Since a huge colony of whales has been living off the coast of Adeje for several decades now, it’s worth diving in these places just for them! And if you add to such an unusual sea voyage possible encounters with dolphins, rare pilot whales, and sea turtles, then there will be no time to even get on land... Do you agree?
The ocean depths near Adeje are home to more than 500 species of rich Atlantic flora and fauna. Local diving centers have adopted all these opportunities and are growing along the coast like mushrooms! Here they will teach you how to dive if you don’t know how, help you get a diver certificate, sell you the necessary equipment, or offer it for rent.
Another interesting fact about Adeje is that the modern Tenerife Top Training center is located here, where professional athletes from all over the Canary archipelago (and not only) are trained. Of course, there is a unique hydraulic channel where you can learn to dive, only here and nowhere else in Spain! The center's infrastructure is complemented by a heated swimming pool and a large Olympic swimming pool for world-class training and competitions.
Entertainment and festivals in Adeje
Adeje's best festivals are noisy mass processions with music, costumed performances and food, which are organized during religious holidays dedicated to the patron saints of the municipality - Saint Sebastian, Saint Ursula and the Virgin of Encarnacion.
Another highlight on the list of local entertainment is horse riding, which is organized by local horse companies along the coast. The only condition is that before going on a promenade with a horse, you should take a horse riding course.
Those who would like to explore the surrounding area of the resort can take advantage of the best form of transport in Tenerife - mountain biking. By renting such a wonderful travel companion, you will conquer both rural paths and rocky coastal roads, enjoying the extraordinary landscapes and fantastic vegetation of the island.
Adeje how to get there
The best way is to use the services of airlines that deliver travelers from the mainland to the southern island airport of Reina Sofia (Tenerife South). The distance from the airport to Adeje is 25 km; the easiest way to get to the city is by local regular bus company Titsa No. 111, which departs every 30 minutes and runs from 06.20 to 22.20.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. 3 million tourists visit it annually. The best of the island's resorts is Costa Adeje, famous for its luxury hotels.
Climate
The absence of strong winds and lush vegetation make the main resort of Tenerife a truly heavenly place. It has a warm and gentle climate, so you can meet vacationers there at any time of the year.
The lowest temperature recorded at the resort for the entire period of meteorological observations was +15 o C (in winter), and the average temperature in the “cold” season is +17 ... +21 o C. As for summer, in this season Costa Adeje has ideal weather for a beach holiday. On average, the thermometer shows +25 ... +30 o C.
It rains quite rarely on this part of the Tenerife coast, and the monthly precipitation rate barely reaches 7 mm. At the same time, due to the proximity of the ocean, the vegetation in Adaha always remains lush, and during the hot season, vacationers do not experience discomfort.
In addition, in this resort of Tenerife, the water temperature in December, July, August, September, November and October ranges from +21 ... +24.3 o C. There are few unfavorable months for a beach holiday on the island. In particular, it is not particularly comfortable there at the beginning of spring. However, even if you come to Tenerife in March, the minimum water temperature will be comfortable - about +18 o C.
Where is
The island of Tenerife is located in the Atlantic Ocean, 300 km from the coast of Africa and 1000 km from mainland Spain. Its area is 2,034.38 square meters. km, and the length of the coastline is 342 km. The resort of Adeje is located on the southwest coast of the island, next to the youth resort of Las Americas.
How to get there
For Russians, there is practically no alternative way to get to the Canaries by air to Tenerife.
Adeje is 20 km from the southern airport of the island. Several regular buses go there (No. 450, 111 and 343). Tourists arriving at the southern airport of the island can also easily get to Adeje. From there you can get to the resort by taking bus number 343 or changing in the city of Santa Cruz to route number 111.
Beaches
People usually go to Tenerife to splash in the gentle sea and lie on the clean sand.
In total, the resort has three beach areas:
- "Playa de Fañabe".
- "El Duque"
- "Troy I" and "Troy II".
Of these, El Duque beach is distinguished by its developed infrastructure. There are changing rooms, toilets, showers, parking, telephone, bus stop, taxi rank, etc. Thanks to the gentle entrance to the sea, El Duque beach is especially preferred by families who come on vacation with small children.
Those who seek relative solitude choose a holiday on Playa de Fañabé. This beach is one of the most fashionable.
More democratic are "Troy I" and "Troy II". These are the oldest beaches in the resort, where you can find everything you need for relaxation. However, during the high season they are always crowded.
Almost all beaches are sandy, with local or imported desert sand.
Where to go
Like other resorts in Tenerife, Adeje offers its guests many leisure options. First of all, these are trips on boats and yachts, during which tourists can breathe in the sea air, admire the views of the island from the ocean and watch whales. Young people who come to the resort without children can be recommended to take part in a walking tour to the Hell's Gorge nature reserve or to other natural attractions of Adeje.
In order to have fun with the whole family, including children aged 6 years and older, it is worth visiting the famous water amusement park "Siam Park" (address: 38670 Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, children's ticket costs 22 euros, adult - 32 euros). Not far from the resort is the Jungle Park Zoo, where you can observe many species of animals living in the Canary Islands.
Golf lovers will also not be bored in Tenerife, as there are many excellent courses for practicing this sport.
Nightlife
Those who have been to the Canary Islands will confirm that Adeje is one of the most peaceful places in Tenerife. However, this does not mean that tourists will be deprived of the opportunity to have fun in nightclubs and numerous discos. In nearby Puerto Colon, life is in full swing until the early hours, and Veronicas Street is home to many entertainment venues.
Excursions
For those who come to the best resort of Tenerife - Adeje - and want to diversify their holiday, various excursions are offered. For example, guests of the Canaries will be interested in visiting the island of La Gomera, where the ancient capital of the archipelago was located many centuries ago. San Sebastian has preserved many ancient buildings and places associated with the stay of Christopher Columbus himself. In addition, La Gomera is home to the Garajonay National Park.
Another interesting excursion is a trip to the San Miguel Castle. Costume knight tournaments are regularly held there. At the entrance to the castle, guests are greeted by the owner and hostess. They invite tourists to become spectators and even participants in the fight between brave knights, ready to fight for the favor of the beautiful Donna.
Hotels in Adeje (Tenerife)
Four- and five-star hotels in the resort are located mainly on the second resort line. The main contingent of vacationers in Tenerife (Adeje is no exception) are Europeans. There are especially many British and Russians in hotels. Fortunately, young people from Foggy Albion prefer Las Americas, so you can safely stay in Adeje hotels with children without fear of a noisy neighborhood.
Most hotels have their own spacious swimming pools, including paddling pools. Some of them have green areas where it will be convenient to walk with children.
Since a significant part of the main contingent of hotel guests in Adeje are tourists from our country, there are always employees at the reception who speak Russian. This facilitates communication and eliminates misunderstandings.
Among the best hotels in the resort are usually called:
- Costa Adeje Palase 4* with hydromassage outdoor pool and spa.
- Fanabe Sosta Sur with 2 swimming pools, nudist area and wellness centre.
- Sol Sun Beach Apartamentos, located 2 minutes walk from the beach.
Costa Adeje Gran Hotel 5* (see information below).
Costa Adeje Gran Hotel 5*
This hotel is considered one of the best in Tenerife. It is built in the traditional Canarian style in the shape of the letter "U". Vacationers are offered cozy and spacious rooms with free WI-FI. The hotel does not have a spacious private area, but the road to the beach at a leisurely pace takes only 7 minutes.
The advantages of Costa Adeje Gran Hotel 5* also include:
- an excellent menu that includes excellent cheeses, traditional jamon, red caviar, etc.;
- proximity to the famous nightclub "Achaman";
- high quality service;
- the presence of several boutiques and shops with all the necessary little things within walking distance from the hotel.
Diving in Adeje
The ocean waters off the coast of the resort are home to more than half a thousand species of marine flora and fauna. You can get acquainted with them by visiting the diving centers of Costa Adeje. You can learn to dive there, get a certificate, rent the necessary equipment, etc.
In addition, Adeje has a modern Tenerife Top Training center, where athletes from all over the Canary archipelago train.
Those coming to Tenerife will be interested to know what the southern resort of Costa Adeje is like, located west of Las Americas and practically merged with it. Is it really comfortable to relax here? What services are provided to tourists? What to do, what to see and where to have fun besides the beach? Cast aside all doubts and hurry to be surprised, because this heavenly place is just for you!
A resort with an impeccable reputation
Logo of the Costa Adeje resort and coat of arms of the municipality of AdejeCosta Adeje They consider it a calmer place, compared to , which is ideal for a family holiday. People of different ages and incomes come here to relax, and the most privileged and expensive part of it, next to del Duque beach(Playa del Duque), chosen by tourists who are not afraid of high prices in price lists. And this is completely justified, since the hotels here are luxurious, and the service in them, judging by the reviews of tourists, is impeccable and deserves all praise.
Over the past few years, the resort town has changed a lot thanks to the large number of hotel complexes built (the hotels are almost all new and built in recent decades), the rapid development of infrastructure and level of service. This, without a doubt, attracts tourists from Europe who want to enjoy not only the wonderful weather, but also a wide variety of leisure activities.
The absolutely clean ocean bottom deserves a special description, which, through the efforts of ecologists and diving enthusiasts, acquired its current appearance with emerald, crystal clear waters. Beauty - you can't take your eyes off it!
We have already written that many beaches in Costa Adeje were covered with tons of white African sand, so that the coastal zone would delight with its pleasant shade. So, the territories continue to be developed and improved even more, giving the resort not only a stunning view, but also an impeccable reputation as the most wonderful place to relax.
Quiet and not boring area
If you trace the administrative boundaries of the resort on the map, it is adjacent to Las Americas along the canal bed in the Barranco del Rey gorge in the southern part, and on the opposite side it ends in the La Caleta area, which is located in the same municipality.
View of the Costa Adeje, del Duque beach
You, as a tourist, may have the highest demands, but the service that Costa Adeje provides is unlikely to disappoint you. The resort itself is noticeable calmer than its nearest neighbor and is more suitable for family holidays. Vacationers have a large selection of four- and five-star hotels with cozy rooms, budget apartments, cafes, bars and restaurants, cozy public parks with luxurious fragrant vegetation, playgrounds, sports facilities and spa centers.
Beach holiday
You can sunbathe on the light sand and splash around in warm, clear water with a turquoise tint on one of the equipped beaches. Those marked with a blue flag have gained particular popularity. Playa del Duque(Playa del Duque) and Fanabe/Torviscas(Fanabe/Torviscas) and also Playa de Troya(Playa de Troya). You can read more in the article "". All of them continuously stretch one after another at a distance of six kilometers, only occasionally separated by rocky ledges. The service is very diverse - from rental of watercraft and sun loungers with umbrellas, to more serious equipment for underwater fun.
Even a walk will be enjoyable
During the day you can calmly bask in the sun and splash in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, but in the evening it’s time for walks along the embankment. Also, on the territory of the resort, there are public parks and squares with amazing plants, where you can not only walk during the day or evening, but also go for morning jogging.
Embankment with benches for tourists to relax
Entertainment at the resort
Those who come here for adrenaline and water activities can enjoy diving, sailing or paragliding m (the latter fly directly over the resort, and their landing site is located next door in La Caleta). You can also go water skiing or rent a catamaran, Water bike or motor boat– and go ahead for impressions.
The resort is conveniently located near the main entertainment places southern part of the island (water parks and, and, as well as all the entertainment of Neighboring Las Americas), and numerous excursion bureaus will be happy to take you to any Tenerife attractions( , and others).
Nearby there is a wonderful field for professional playing golf, where the unique topography of the island is used along with natural landscapes that delight the eye. Almost every hotel has a minimum of sports infrastructure in the form of a swimming pool and a gym, and the largest ones even have their own tennis courts.
In the central part of the resort coast there is a port for pleasure boats - Puerto Colon. Snow-white yachts and boats are moored here, ready at any moment to give you an unforgettable trip across the ocean or to the neighboring island of La Gomera, where you can see dolphins and even whales frolicking in the water.
Meals at the resort
There is definitely no shortage of establishments. The Bahia del Duque hotel alone has eight bars and nine restaurants with excellent cuisine and excellent service. They are open to the public, but prices are far from the lowest. Fortunately, there are cafes and restaurants for every taste and color - the bulk are concentrated along the embankment and the main hiking routes. In terms of cuisine and the theme of the establishments, everything is as usual, most of them are motley establishments with different cuisines and an emphasis on reaching the maximum number of tourists, but there are also large restaurants, barbecues or sushi bars.
For shopping lovers
And you will find something to do here, although the choice here is not so large. In several shopping centers in Costa Adeje you can buy both branded items and clothes from little-known brands. For example, in Plaza del Duque- a shopping center built on a large scale, you are offered all kinds of goods from world brands and Spanish manufacturers of clothing and accessories. In fact, this is the largest shopping center in the area. In addition to it, several smaller shopping complexes are scattered around the resort, and opposite the commercial center El Duque(El Duque, not to be confused with the one mentioned above!) On Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00 there is a local market (mainly things and souvenirs).
Tents with goods at the market in Costa Adeje
Throughout Costa Adeje there are many shops with cheap things in huge quantities, they are, as usual, located closer to the beaches and crowded places. It’s quite possible to buy sandals or a sundress to replace a torn one, but I wouldn’t take such gifts home; it’s better to save space in your suitcase for something more worthwhile.
Anyway, shopping- this is a pleasant activity, if only because we all, one way or another, sometimes like to just gawk at the product on offer, even if we do not intend to purchase it.
Night life
If you wish, you will always find a place to have fun, although it may seem that there is no place to “hang out” at all in Costa Adeje. Club El Faro or Kaluna Beach Club, located between the port and Fanabe beach, are essentially the only similar establishments nearby. In general, it is better to look for nightclubs, bars and discos with good music and fun, dancing and parties in nearby Las Americas, but if you are not a big fan of noise, you can easily find somewhere to while away the evening listening to live music, karaoke or a sports match, closer to the hotel.
For lovers of gambling and random winnings, the H10 Gran Tenerife hotel has the only casino.
When they mention Costa Adeje, the word “most” is often used: the most important resort, the cleanest coastline, the most luxurious hotels, the most delicious dishes, etc. I think this is a worthy assessment of a resort that is visited by a huge number of vacationers every year.
It was here that I visited back in 2010, when I first visited the island of Tenerife, and it was after this visit that I wanted to move here =) During the day there were beaches and excursions, and in the evening either a relaxing dinner in restaurants nearby, or noisy parties and partying in a taxi to which costs only 10–12 euros.
And, finally, a beautiful video about this resort and its capabilities (it’s better to watch in full screen).

Costa Adeje has some of the best golf courses on the island. The fields are located in such a way that players can observe the picturesque landscape surrounding them. On one side there is a fabulous view of the islands of La Gomera and La Palma, and on the other a panorama of the Atlantic Ocean.
Diving is very popular in Costa Adeje. Several beaches in the resort area are marked with a blue flag, the water is crystal clear and the bottom is clean. You can enjoy observing the picturesque underwater world of the ocean, easily examining their inhabitants. Diving enthusiasts will appreciate it.
Anyone can go on a boat trip deep into the ocean. Far from the coast you can see amazing inhabitants of the deep sea - whales and pilot whales, their number reaches 250 individuals.
Extreme lovers can go surfing and parachuting. Experienced instructors will be happy to help beginners learn a new sport.
Parents with children prefer to visit water parks; there are plenty of them here. The most popular of them is Siam Park.
Transport features of Costa Adeje
The resort of Costa Adeje has good transport links to the airport and the entire island as a whole. The most common type of ground transport is Tits buses. They are easy to recognize because... they are painted bright green. At each station, travel tickets are sold in the form of a Bono card. The average cost is 15-25 €, the amount spent will immediately be credited to the ticket account. By using Bono, you can save up to 15% on travel. You must enter the bus through the front door and insert your ticket into the validator near the driver, specifying the number of people. It is necessary to inform about the exit at the stop in advance by pressing a button on the bus. It is not customary to announce the names of stations in Spain.
Below is the average cost of travel and the amount of time spent on the road.
- From South Airport to Costa Adeje (40 minutes) - 2.90 €.
- From Costa Adeje to Santa Cruz (80 minutes) - 6.25 €.
- From Costa Adeje to Teide volcano (1.5 hours) - 6 €.
- Travel within one resort is 1.15 €.
Another equally common form of transport is taxis. The cars are easy to recognize - they are white, with a dial on the roof and the letters SP. The cost of travel within the Costa Adeje resort for 1 kilometer will be 0.55 €, traveling outside will cost twice as much. On weekends and evenings the cost increases by 15%. Each car is equipped with meters, but this does not guarantee that you will not be deceived; drivers often take the longest road.
Tourists who plan to travel a lot around the island are better off renting a car. There is a car rental service near the airport. The roads are of excellent quality, there are practically no traffic jams. The cost of 1 liter of gasoline is 1.22 €, and an hour of parking is no more than 1 €.
On any island, Tenerife is no exception, maritime transport is popular. Ferries provide easy access to neighboring islands. They just sail from certain places. Unfortunately, you won't be able to take the ferry from Costa Adeje. This can only be done from two places: Los Cristianos and Santa Cruz.
For lovers of bicycles and motorcycles, there are many rental points in Costa Adeje, the average cost per day is 10 €, it is possible to rent a vehicle for several hours.
We vacationed in Adeje as a family with children (daughter 7 years old, son 5 years old) in July 2016. We were very pleased, but first things first.
There is not much natural beauty here, but it is there. The very combination of ocean + mountains is impressive. We lived in the Malibu apartment complex, which is located on the upper level of Adeje. From the balcony there was a beautiful view of Adeje, the ocean and the mountains right at point blank range. Of course, somewhere in Los Gigantes the natural beauty is even steeper, there is nothing like that here... But there is life here, which is not there... With children, it is still important to have the infrastructure nearby.
There are few attractions in Adeje. The main attractions are two water parks. New Siam Park - which is in great demand and is the second most visited site after Loro Parque. The second water park (old) is located next to the Malibu complex, there is also a dolphinarium there, but we did not spend money on it, since we preferred the slightly more expensive, but better quality Siam Park, and we saw dolphins and killer whales in Loro Parque. There was no particular desire to pay a second time. But from Adeje you can get to all the attractions of the island in 30-40 minutes by car. That's why it's convenient to live here. In fact, only Loro Park and Las Teresitas beach take about 1.5 hours by car from here. Everything else is literally at your fingertips.
Transport accessibility is excellent, especially if you arrive at the southern airport. In fact, 10 minutes by car and you are already at your hotel in Adeje. We flew to the northern airport and got there by car on our own in 1 hour and 45 minutes using navigation. There is an excellent highway from the airport, so again everything is fast here. You can also use public transport, but with children we don’t even consider such options.
The beaches and sea are excellent. In fact, there are several beaches in Adeje, each with its own merits. There is less, there is more. We visited them all. I liked Fanebe due to its width, it doesn’t create the feeling of a crowd, and El Duque (across the cape from Fanabe), where there is a very beautiful cove with large waves on one side and smaller ones on the other. The kids really liked it there and so did we. The only thing is that there is no embankment there (with beer and restaurants).
Nightlife in Adeje is vibrant and loud. On the upper levels of Adeje it is very quiet and calm (perfect for families with children), but downstairs in the hotel area it is quite noisy. Moreover, the closer the center, the noisier it is. We were there once in the evening - I’m sure that lovers of nightlife in Adeje will not get bored.
The resort infrastructure is at a very high level. After all, it’s a resort center. There is everything you need for a good holiday for any tourist. With children, I really can’t say that there is entertainment on every corner, but in principle there is something to do.. But we seemed to have fun just by riding around the entire island and thus the children had fun with us.
The price level is normal for a central resort. Lunch cost us about 35-55 euros for four, depending on how many dishes we took. The cost of food in Tenerife depends on whether it is imported or not. For example, seafood products are quite cheap, fruits are like ours, but for some reason they are not very juicy and sweet (apparently they are brought from somewhere). Bananas are gorgeous because they are grown in Tenerife. Our cabbage costs 2 euros/kg:) I had to switch to shredded cabbage in sets. In general, one trip to the store to buy food and alcohol for 3-4 days cost us 70-90 euros. Just “dropping in” to buy something for lunch or dinner (milk, bread, breakfast for children, watermelon + some small things) - a check of up to 20 euros. Try to buy for 10+ euros to avoid paying for parking in Mercadona (a shopping center in the city). Yes, by the way, parking is paid everywhere! Something like 1 euro/hour...
You need to communicate in Adeje in English. Still, the bulk of vacationers are English. There are also plenty of Russians, but now there are much fewer of them than before. But many restaurants have menus in Russian, so you definitely won’t go hungry :) It’s useless to speak English in stores. Basically, body language + brand name + smile on the face solves all language problems.
