The first month of summer marks more than four dozen holidays, significant dates and events that are celebrated not only in our Fatherland, but also have an international status.
Several of them fall on the first day - World Parents Day, Northern Fleet Day of the Russian Federation and even World Milk Day. But the first of June has a special place on World Children's Day. And this is quite natural. Today on our planet every third inhabitant is under the age of fifteen, and in total there are over 1.8 billion children on the five continents of the Earth. In Russia there are almost twenty-seven and a half million children under the age of eighteen. Children are our future, we must take care of them, educate them, and do everything to ensure that they receive an education, including higher education, because they are the ones who in the future determine the fate of all humanity. This holiday is one of the oldest on the planet - it was initiated back in 1925 by the World Conference on the Welfare of Children, then held in Geneva. The holiday even has its own flag!
June 5 is World Environment Day. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. This decision is based on the so-called “Cop Appeal” addressed to the UN Secretary General, signed by 2,200 scientists and cultural figures from twenty-three countries, alarmed by the state of the environment in which humanity lives. There are millions of plants, factories, and other enterprises on the planet that pollute the atmosphere. As a result of the insane use of freon in household appliances, ozone holes are formed over the planet, allowing solar ultraviolet radiation, which is destructive for all living things, to reach the Earth. The water of rivers, lakes and other bodies of water must be purified and chlorinated before use - a lot of problems! Environmental protection is extremely important, and on June 5 special attention is paid to its condition, measures are developed and then implemented to truly protect it.
June 12 is Russia Day. Until 2002, it was called differently - Russian Independence Day. Closely connected with the adoption of the “Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation”, adopted in 1994. With the collapse of the USSR, the country's symbols of power also changed. The red banner with a hammer and sickle was replaced by a tricolor of white (from top to bottom), blue and red. The three-headed eagle with golden crowns also returned to us. The state has returned to the capitalist path of development, but the social status of the population is a priority. Although, admittedly, it has many problems - one of the lowest pensions in the world, public sector salaries, and so on. There is a long way to go to improve this situation. However, the holiday is celebrated annually on a grand scale.
June 14 is World Blood Donor Day. It was established by several international health-related organizations in 2004. Different situations happen in life. For example, a person is wounded, he bleeds, it needs to be replaced. There is no way to do this without donors. That is why there are donor centers around the world and in our country. Some people donate blood for free, while others will be given money for it. The event is dedicated to the birthday of the remarkable Austrian immunologist Karl Landsteined (1868-1843), who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for the discovery of human blood groups. The world's first transfusion (500 milligrams) was carried out by the equally talented English doctor James Blundell back in 1818
June 22 - Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. It was established in our country by Presidential Decree in 1996 and is associated with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, which lasted from 1941 to 1945 and ended with the crushing defeat of Hitler's fascism and the capture of Berlin by the valiant Soviet army. After which, during a military parade on Red Square, captured German banners with the world-hated swastika were thrown at the foot of the Mausoleum! The Second World War took with it over 52 million human lives, 26 million of them were citizens of the USSR - both soldiers and civilians. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the country pays tribute to the memory of the victims of Hitlerism.
June 25 is the Day of Friendship and Unity of the Slavs. There are many of them on the planet - Russians, Belarusians, Ukrainians, Poles, Czechs, Serbs and so on - more than 270 million. When they are united, no enemy is afraid of them! Unfortunately, this does not always happen. And this was especially clearly proven by the Second World War, when Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia and other Slavic states fought on Hitler’s side. But they did not benefit from the alliance with fascism - after fierce battles they also found themselves in ruins and suffered great casualties. And the Slavic peoples should take this cruel lesson into account!
But on June 27, the planet celebrates one of the most amazing holidays - World Fisheries Day. He has countless fans! Millions are patiently waiting for good luck, happiness and luck near the oceans and seas, lakes, rivers, artificial reservoirs. And how they rejoice, like children, at every fish they catch! The holiday was established in 1984 in Rome by the International Conference for the Development and Regulation of Fisheries. And it has been celebrated since 1985.
June 30 is the Day of the Economist of Belarus. Established by Presidential Decree in 2000. The question is whether the country needs a planned economy, or will the market solve all the problems of its development? - still causes controversy. Our Slavic brothers believe that we cannot do without planning, and therefore we need competent economists and higher educational institutions to train them. During the times of the USSR, in the union republic, as well as in the power as a whole, the State Planning Committee existed and worked effectively. After the destruction of the great country, it was transformed into the State Committee for Economics and Planning. And in 1994, the Ministry of Economy was formed in its place. The result is that everything was not handed over to the market. Elements of planning and control by the state remain. Perhaps that is why Belarus is developing steadily. It is connected with Russia by the status of a union state. And today, even more so, the republic needs economists, who are trained, among other things, by fraternal Russia.
