Is it possible to take food to the airport? Is it possible to carry... in hand luggage? (FAQ). Prohibited products on international flights
Do you have a long flight ahead? Do you want to know if you can take food on a plane in your hand luggage? Can! Be sure to take care of your food, because on most airlines it does not suit the tastes and special preferences of passengers, so you should take your favorite foods and drinks with you. However, there are a number of rules governing the methods of transporting food in hand luggage. We invite you to familiarize yourself with them to avoid confiscation of purchased products upon boarding.
The carriage of food in hand luggage is determined by the airline's internal rules and customs prohibitions. You can take food on the plane - no one forbids it, but it is worth knowing the list of products that cannot be taken on board. This list depends on the type of flight and the severity of the carrier's requirements for hand luggage. So, what should you not take on a plane - or is it not recommended to take?
- The main limitation is the volume and weight of permitted hand luggage. It differs from airline to airline, so you need to clarify this important point before flying.
- It is not recommended to bring perishable and fermented milk products into the cabin, as well as dishes with a strong odor (for example, many companies prohibit the carriage of durian because of its unpleasant aroma).
- It is better to pack all food in special plastic containers - this will help speed up the inspection process.
- In order to exclude the possible import of epidemiologically dangerous objects, the customs rules of some countries prohibit the transport of animal products (meat and dairy, eggs, fish and poultry) into their territory, so it is better to exclude them completely. The same rules apply to products without individual packaging.
- You cannot take regulated products with you (their list changes frequently - you need to follow the news). Temporary bans may apply to certain fruits, teas, nuts or greens.
- The volume of each individual container of liquid carried as part of hand luggage must not exceed 100 ml. The total capacity cannot exceed one liter. It is recommended to place all vials and bottles with drinks and other liquids in a special plastic container.
- All goods purchased in duty-free shops at the airport are allowed to be taken into the cabin of the airliner. Certain restrictions apply only to liquids: alcohol purchased at Duty Free must be packaged in a store bag. When transferring, you cannot print the package. It is recommended to check your purchases in your luggage.
What food should I take with my hand luggage?
When choosing food, you should give preference to protein-rich foods (meat and eggs are allowed on domestic flights), but make sure that you do not take anything that crumbles a lot or emits a specific smell.
If the airline menu does not excite your appetite, prepare in advance a set of healthy and tasty food packed in plastic containers and bags. We recommend taking on the flight:
- Fruits. They can replace dessert. Tip: take those fruits that do not need to be peeled, this will avoid stains on clothes and dirty hands. The ideal choice is grapes, apples or fresh berries. At home, wash and dry them, then place them in an airtight plastic container.
- A mixture of dried fruits and nuts. You can assemble it yourself by mixing your favorite nuts and candied fruits, purchased separately, or by purchasing a ready-made package.
- Crackers with sauce. Whole grain crackers, bread or chips are a great way to satisfy your hunger, especially if accompanied by a delicious sauce in an individual mini-pack.
- Granola bars are a healthier option than chocolate. Plus, they won't melt in the heat and won't make you thirsty.
Useful tips
When preparing food for your flight, pay attention to the following points:
- Be sure to take wet wipes - this is the most convenient way to clean your dirty hands without leaving your seat.
- During the flight, many people experience extreme thirst, and the amount of water that is allowed to be carried is often not enough. Take an empty bottle with you - many stewards will accommodate passengers and fill them with water upon request.
- Don't forget to put an empty bag in your bag to put your trash in.
- Take chewing gum or hard candy with you if you have a bad feeling during takeoff or landing.
- If you are traveling with a child under 2 years of age, you can carry any baby food. At your request, flight attendants can warm up a bottle of formula or milk. Some companies provide a pre-order service for baby food.
If you have any doubts about the transportation of individual products, first ask them to a representative of the selected airline by calling the hotline. Since companies have the right to set their own restrictions, their requirements may differ from generally accepted ones.
TO What products can you take on a plane?
Many of us fly by plane on vacation, on business trips to get a job, etc. If the flight is not long, problems with food do not arise.
What if the flight is long and with not just one but several transfers? And if you fly on budget airlines, where you will have to pay for tea or juice. Moreover, when transferring, you have to wait for a plane for several hours, and the airport buffets have mind-boggling prices.
Then the question arises: “Is it possible to take food on the plane?”
I think this question interests not only me, but will also be useful to others

Carry-on luggage on an airplane
Hand luggage- This is your unchecked baggage, the things you take with you on the plane.
Economy class ticket holders can take 1 piece of hand luggage on board, business and first class passengers can take 2 pieces each.
The allowed size of hand luggage is usually: 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm or 115 cm in the sum of 3 dimensions.
The weight allowance depends on the airline, aircraft type and route; below are the permissible weights of one piece of hand luggage for some airlines:
Baggage whose dimensions and weight do not meet these standards is transported in the cargo compartment.Many have already heard that carrying liquids in hand luggage certain restrictions apply.
Liquids (including creams, aerosols and gels) can be carried in hand luggage only in accordance with the following requirements:
- The volume of containers containing liquids should not exceed 100 ml. (i.e., even if the liquid itself is only 50 ml., the container in which it is located should hold no more than 100 ml. To prevent controversial situations with the security service, it is recommended to use containers for liquid (tubes, jars, etc.) with indicating their volume).
- All containers should be stored in the same resealable, clear plastic container. The total capacity should not exceed 1 liter. (i.e. you can take 10 bottles of no more than 100 ml each)
You can read about special containers and bags for packing liquids in our post about packing luggage.
Medicines (provided you have a prescription or doctor's note with you) and baby food that you may need during the flight do not need to be placed in plastic packaging, but they must be presented to security. Be prepared to be asked to open jars of baby food and taste the contents.
Products purchased at Duty Free
When traveling within the EU: You can purchase liquids (spirits, perfumes, etc.) in Duty Free or on board all European airlines. The liquids you purchase will be packaged and sealed. If you are traveling on a connecting flight, sealed liquids should not be opened until you arrive at your final destination.
If your trip starts outside the EU and then you transfer to a connecting flight at an airport in the EU, you can also carry liquids and gels purchased at Duty Free outside the EU.
Note! The authorities of some countries, such as the Netherlands, prohibit passengers from transporting liquids purchased from duty-free shops outside the EU when transferring to a connecting flight at an airport in the EU.
It is allowed to carry liquids purchased in Duty Free stores at the following airports in hand luggage:
- All airports in Canada
- All US airports
- Kuala Lumpur
- Singapore
- Croatia: Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar or Zagreb
Items prohibited from being carried in hand luggage.
These items include:
- Liquids, with the exception of liquids in small quantities and packaged according to the rules specified above
- Animal products (dairy products, meat, cheese). This requirement does not apply to passengers flying from Switzerland, Andorra, Greenland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and the Faroe Islands.
- Weapon

In addition to your hand luggage, you can take with you into the cabin the following items:
- handbag (including laptop bag);
- coat, shawl, blanket or umbrella;
- a laptop, a camera (a tripod is usually asked to be checked in as luggage, but some airlines allow you to take it in hand luggage if its folded length does not exceed 60 cm) or binoculars. You can read more about transporting a laptop on a plane in the post “Can I take a laptop on a plane?”;
- a reasonable amount of printed publications to read during the flight;
- a child's portable cradle/chair or stroller weighing up to 10 kg.
- crutches or other necessary orthopedic devices
Is it possible to take food on a plane?
Perhaps not everyone knows about this, but you can take food on board the plane, and not just the food you bought at Duty Free before boarding.
Knowledgeable tourists take with them not only chocolates and cookies, but also sandwiches and other homemade preparations. There are restrictions only on drinks, but the flight attendants serve them anyway, unless you fly on budget airlines, where you have to pay for tea or juice.
There are several guidelines to follow when choosing food.
It is advisable to take protein-rich foods with you: chicken, beef, cheese, nuts. Choose products that do not have a strong odor, that will not crumble too much and will not deteriorate over several hours of flying and waiting at the airport.
For a snack, a mixture of nuts and dried fruits, sandwiches or a salad in a container is perfect.
Avoid strong-smelling and gas-forming foods (onions, garlic, fish, beans, broccoli), as well as fatty foods. You can ruin your stay on the plane not only for yourself, but also for many of your neighbors.
Remember that liquids, including gels, are prohibited for transportation. Except when they comply with the standards:
- The volume of containers should not exceed 100 ml.
- All containers should be stored in the same resealable, clear plastic container. The total capacity should not exceed 1 liter.
- Each passenger has the right to carry only one such package.
- Packaging containing containers containing liquids must be presented separately at the security control desk.
All products must be carefully packaged in transparent bags or containers so that security personnel can see what is inside.
And one more little piece of advice: before placing the food you brought with you on the table, cover it with a napkin. You don’t know who sat here before you and how long ago it was wiped down.
What food should you take on a plane?
Food on airplanes often leaves much to be desired. Heartburn-inducing pasta with chicken and an insanely sweet chocolate waffle as a dessert are unlikely to awaken your appetite; you can only eat this if you are very hungry. Meanwhile, packing a bag of tasty and healthy food with you on the road won’t be the slightest bit difficult; the main thing is to have a clear plan. And then you don’t have to think about whether food is included in the price of the flight, and don’t worry about its quality. This same supply can also help during long flights, when a significant amount of time passes between two meals. So, what can you enjoy and comfortably consume during the flight?Fruits
Fruits are perfect both as a dessert and as a way to quench your thirst. The main thing is not to take with you those that need to be cleaned. Dirty hands, splashes on clothes and extra weight in the form of skins are not at all what you need. It is best to bring seedless grapes or any other berries, as well as apples. All this must first be washed, dried and it is best to put it not in a bag, but in a plastic container with a lid.
Mix of nuts and dried fruits
Of course, there are ready-made mixtures in stores, but usually they will probably contain something that you don’t like at all and will end up remaining at the bottom of the jar, so it’s better to prepare a packed lunch from what you like. For example: mix a glass of roasted sunflower seeds without husks, a glass of dried apricots or prunes, half a glass of nuts (almonds or hazelnuts) and a couple of handfuls of dried cherries. All this, again, is more convenient to place in a plastic container, since plastic bags tend to open, tear and crumble at the most inopportune moment. And it’s inconvenient to put them on the table.
Little carrots
This tasty and easy-to-transport root vegetable is often forgotten, and in vain. Firstly, it is very good for them to crunch during takeoff or landing, because... It's great for keeping your ears from getting clogged. Secondly, carrots are a good way to satisfy the desire to constantly chew something out of boredom, without harming your figure. And finally, if you bring some sauce with you, you can dip the root vegetable into it and get an almost restaurant-quality appetizer. The main thing is to wash the carrots in advance. By the way, during the season, small cucumbers are a good substitute for carrots; the main thing is to find tasty and fresh ones.
Sauces
Not necessary, but people who are used to eating sauces, take one or two sauces with you. These could be small boxes from McDonald's. But remember that the transportation of liquid substances on an airplane is limited.
Crackers
Crackers, breadsticks or FinnCrisp from home are great for snacking. The main thing is to choose an option that is not too crumbly.
Muesli bars
If you don’t have time to pack food for the road, take with you a variety of muesli bars and dried fruits. There are a great many types of such bars on sale, and you can buy them not only in the supermarket, but also in almost any pharmacy.
Inedible items
Of course, you should definitely take wet and dry wipes with you, which will definitely be used. If there are shops in the sterile area, you can also take an empty travel water bottle with you and fill it with your own mix, the ingredients for which can be purchased after security control.
And many people are very thirsty on the plane, but you can’t take too much liquid, you can take liquid with you in your luggage. But you can take juicy fruits and an empty bottle.
And fly with a bottle, which you fill at the airport, after all the checks. You can ask the stewards for water. Dehydration is scary, so the more you drink, the better.
You can take apples and bananas.
Advice - take dried fruits, nuts (preferably not peanuts, so that your neighbor does not develop angioedema: () Take sandwiches that are individually wrapped, with chicken, regular, non-smelly cheese. All sorts of bars.
And don't forget to bring an empty trash bag!
You can take any food into the cabin except perishable. The amount of food is limited by the size of hand luggage. On international flights there may be customs restrictions, for example on caviar. You can take no more than one liter of water on the plane in 100 ml containers. In addition, each airline may have its own rules.
It’s better not to take watermelon on board
Now we are not talking about what you bought in Duty Free - that goes without saying. Next we will talk mainly about hand luggage and the aircraft cabin. You can check almost anything in your luggage, there are different rules.
You are only limited by:
- size of hand luggage,
- maximum amount of liquid,
- customs regulations (on international flights),
- common sense.
You can bring any food on the plane, as long as the liquid in the container is no more than 100 ml, its total volume does not exceed 1 liter, and the food is not strong-smelling, perishable, crumbly, and does not cause inconvenience to you and the passengers around you.
What food to take on a plane
A person needs 1,700 calories per day for women and 2,000 calories for men.
This is for a person leading a sedentary lifestyle (we usually sit the entire way on the plane). Athletes need more, but they know their own standards.
Food you can take on board the plane
Here list of foods that are convenient to take on a plane, and its average energy value:
- bananas (89 calories/100 grams)
- apples (52 calories/100 grams)
- chocolate or candy bars (535 calories/100 grams or Snickers bar - 488 calories/100 grams)
- lollipops
- nuts, dry mixes (walnut – 654calories/100 grams,almonds – 576calories/100 grams,cashews - 553calories/100 grams,hazelnuts – 628calories/100 grams)
- bakery products: puff pastries, pies, croissants, etc. (265 calories/100 grams).
- cookies, but not to crumble (oatmeal - 437 calories/100 grams)
The food on the list is tasty and healthy, it doesn’t get dirty or smell. Bananas make you feel full, and chocolate is very high in calories. Lollipops will make the flight less boring.
You can add something to this list, but do not take on the plane food that smells strongly, crumbles, gets dirty, etc.
Is it possible to take water into the cabin of an airplane?
We have already written about the size of hand luggage in the article. . It’s also written about liquids, but let’s repeat ourselves.
The total volume of liquid in hand luggage must not exceed 1 liter, but in containers with a volume of no more than 100 ml.
This rule is often misinterpreted.
One of my friends thought that the limit was exactly 100 ml. No. You can take a liter, but pour it into small 100 ml bottles.
By the way, from this rule it follows that two sips of juice at the bottom of a liter box cannot be taken on board - the container is too large.
On the plane, you can ask the flight attendant for water. They will bring you water for free.
What else applies to liquids?
- Any canned food (it doesn’t matter if it contains mostly hard meat)
- Yoghurts (fruit purees, etc.)
- Jam
- Caviar
- Soft cheeses (such as mozzarella)
- Liquid non-food products (perfume, cream, shower gel, etc.)
Is it possible to take caviar on a plane?
Caviar is subject to the same rules as liquids, and it can also be confiscated at customs.
If you need to transfer caviar on a plane, check it in your luggage.
The main thing is to find out whether the customs rules of the country of departure allow you to export, and the countries of arrival to import caviar. Read carefully: what volume, salmon or sturgeon, what is possible, what is not.
Rules for the export of caviar from the Russian Federation
Red caviar
You can export red salmon caviar for personal use in quantities of no more than 5 kg.
Black caviar
Black sturgeon caviar can be exported only in original packaging and no more than 250 grams.
Please note that you can import no more than 125 grams of black caviar into the USA and EU countries. More red caviar can be imported, but also within reasonable limits.
Customs restrictions do not apply to domestic flights.
The main rule is to be able to eat your food carefully and not cause inconvenience to other passengers.
Therefore, you should not take:
Perishable products:
- milk
- kefir
- seafood
- boiled meat and fish
Strong smelling products:
- Chicken
- Sausages
- Certain types of cheeses (for example, Camembert - they will drop you off right on the go)
- Sauerkraut
- Smoked sausage and other smoked products
- Canned food
Crumbly and crunchy foods:
- Chips
- Some types of cookies
- Flakes
In our experience, bananas, chocolate bars and a couple of buns are enough for a three-hour flight.
You can always ask the flight attendant for water. Food should only be taken on low-cost airline flights where meals are not provided. On regular airlines, the lunch served on board will always be enough for you.
- a question that interests passengers of many airlines. People do not always understand what belongs to this category of luggage, what items can be taken into the cabin, and what is better to leave at home or check in with regular cargo.
What is the essence?
First, let's look at what is considered hand luggage on an airplane. This is a special type of baggage that is allowed to be taken into the cabin of an airliner. It has its own rules and regulations for transportation, depending on the rules of the airline. For example, economy class passengers receive one seat, and business class and 1st class passengers receive twice as many.
It is believed that the equivalent of one place is a bag or backpack containing personal belongings. This is wrong. The main criterion is the weight of hand luggage and its dimensions. It is these parameters that the carrier is based on. Such baggage is subject to a number of restrictions, which may vary.
General prohibitions
Before checking in for a flight, it is important to be clear about what you cannot take on the plane. Generally speaking, the category of prohibited cargo includes weapons, liquefied gases, as well as dangerous substances (radioactive, toxic, caustic). The category of prohibited items also includes explosives, liquefied gases, sharp objects, including household appliances such as wire cutters, a corkscrew, scissors, a folding knife and others.
Below we will consider in detail what you can take in hand luggage on a plane, and what items are prohibited in relation to food, cosmetics, medicines, digital equipment and other cargo.
Food
First, let's look at what you are allowed to carry. from food. As a rule, airlines restrict passengers in this matter by prohibiting the carriage of jelly-like and liquid foods. But you can take with you:
- Nuts.
- Fruits.
- Sandwiches.
- Cookie.
- Chips and other products.
If you are flying with a child, you are allowed to take baby food. If jellies, juices or yoghurts are found before departure, they will most likely be prohibited from being carried. This also applies to food that is packaged in cans. Those products that are allowed to be brought on board are recommended to be packed in transparent bags, which speeds up the inspection procedure.
Before departure, pay attention to the carrier's requirements, as they may vary. Pay special attention to goods from DutyFree stores. They are allowed to be taken on the plane, but only if they are packaged in a bag and have a receipt in hand.
Cosmetical tools
Women often ask what they can take with them. from cosmetics. As a rule, carriers allow you to bring into the cabin:
- Blush.
- Eyeliner.
- Shadows.
- Powder and other means.
As for jelly-like compositions, as well as liquids that are packaged in containers larger than 0.1 liters, it is prohibited to take them with you. The only option is to transfer your items to checked luggage. In addition, it is not permitted to bring pressurized cans into the cabin. In this case, the total volume of liquids carried should not exceed 1000 ml. This nuance should be taken into account before departure.
Medical supplies
An equally important issue is medications. The following medications are allowed as hand luggage:
- Pills.
- Hydrogen peroxide.
- Materials for dressing.
- Various drops.
All products should be sealed and carried with instructions for use. Otherwise, customs officers may have questions for the passenger, up to and including the need to conduct a detailed inspection. If there is an injury, hand luggage can be supplemented with special means for movement, for example, crutches. Regarding the upper limit of liquids, the same rules apply here as mentioned above.
Digital equipment
According to air carrier rules, you can take digital equipment on board the plane - a laptop, player, tablet, camera, charger and even a hairdryer. But there is a limitation regarding mobile phones. It can be brought into the cabin, but must be turned off. This is due to safety concerns, as radiation from mobile devices can interfere with the operation of aircraft electronics.
If you plan to carry large equipment with you that exceeds the permissible dimensions, it is better to check it as regular luggage.
What to do with documents and jewelry?
According to airline rules, you are allowed to take valuables, jewelry, wallets and important documents with you in hand luggage. You also need to take your passport with you so as not to accidentally end up in a foreign country without documents. There are situations when luggage does not fit on one plane and then it can be sent on the next flight.
Clothing and personal care items
When it comes to personal hygiene items, you can bring a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb (without a handle), wet wipes and even nail polish remover on board the plane. At the same time, it is prohibited to take cutting or piercing things into the salon. This rule also applies to nail scissors.
From clothes you can take with you a coat, a jacket (sweater), an umbrella, a blanket and a shawl. Generally speaking, it is allowed to take almost all clothing if it does not contradict the airline’s rules and does not exceed the permissible standards (dimensions, weight).
What are the weight and size restrictions?
Separate question - How much hand luggage can you take on a plane?. Here, each airline has its own rules, which depend on the destination, ticket price, flight class and other factors. There are only two main criteria, namely size and weight:
- Dimensions. They should not exceed 56 cm in length, 46 cm in height, and 25 cm in width.
- Weight. Requirements vary here and different airlines may have limits ranging between 3 and 15 kg.
Results
Despite some similarity in the requirements of air carriers regarding hand luggage, some rules are strictly individual. For example, low-cost airlines that provide budget flights are stricter about hand luggage and allow you to take a minimum of things into the cabin. There is a maximum of one seat per person. More established companies will have fewer restrictions. In any case, it is important to clarify these points in advance, even before purchasing a ticket and checking in for the flight.
Before a flight, many people wonder whether they can take food with them on a plane. This topic is especially of concern to allergy sufferers, parents with small children and holders of budget tickets. Airlines do not prohibit you from eating their own food on board as long as it meets their requirements. Before the flight, you need to familiarize yourself in detail with what you can take with you from food.
Why you should take food
In some cases, you need to take food on the plane because it is not available in the cabin. Low-cost airlines such as Pegasus Airlines, WizzAir, and air carriers that provide tickets at reduced prices (promotional fares) save on service and therefore do not feed their passengers. In this case, taking food with you is a necessity, especially during a long flight.
On many airlines, the food is not very tasty, there is no choice, and the number of dishes is limited. The products lack salt and other spices, so passengers sometimes refuse them. And some people do not get enough of the offered set of products, and they need additional food.
Parents with small children need to take special food with them on the plane. Babies eat much more often than adults and need water, cereals, purees and other products throughout the flight.
Another category of passengers who require their own products are those with allergies. People with health problems carefully monitor their diet. The foods on the airline menu can be life-threatening, so it is important for allergy sufferers to know what they can take with them.
Customs restrictions of different countries
Passengers who do not know whether a particular product can be transported to another country may have problems with customs control. The list of products checked in luggage is much larger than the list of products allowed in hand luggage. We must not forget that there are restrictions at customs. Those products that can be freely transported within the country may be prohibited in the territory of another state. Their weight should not exceed the weight of hand luggage (from 5 to 10 kg).
Country restrictions:
- European Union. It is prohibited to transport meat and dairy products to EU countries. They are perishable and have a favorable environment for the proliferation of microorganisms. Such processes in products can cause outbreaks of infections. The exception is infant formula. Customs allows passengers with lobsters, oysters, shellfish, snails, fish and fish products;
- USA. At the airports of this country, passengers who take with them sweets with liqueur, homemade preparations (cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, lecho), fish, black caviar over 125 g, certain fruits and vegetables will not be allowed through. Many farm products are also prohibited: fresh, smoked, canned meat, dairy products. It is allowed to carry canned food, seasonings, olive oil, cookies, candies, hard cheese, dried fruits, powdered drinks, tea in original packaging, coffee, nuts, rice, pasta;
- Thailand. The durian fruit is not allowed to be exported due to its specific smell. Other exotic fruits can only be carried in the luggage compartment. Only those passengers who bought fruit from Duty Free will be allowed on the plane. Meat and meat products cannot be brought into the country;
- Great Britain. It is prohibited to import products made from animals and plants listed in the Red Book. Entry is possible only for those passengers who have the appropriate permission;
- Israel. You cannot import certain types of fruit, fresh and frozen meat and meat products. Skip alcohol and food for children;
- China. Violation of some laws is punishable by death, so you need to seriously study the rules of this country. You cannot import: fruits, eggplants, tomatoes, paprika, chili, bell peppers, animal and plant products. The import of food from epidemically dangerous countries is strictly prohibited.
Important! From time to time, different countries impose quarantine on certain types of vegetables, fruits, nuts and tea. Passengers need to know what can be taken and what cannot. They need to monitor innovations in the list of permitted products of the state to which they are traveling.
What products can you take from Duty?Free
Every traveler looks into a duty-free store, but not everyone knows what products can be purchased there. You are allowed to take on board the plane any product purchased and sealed at Duty Free. For a fee, sellers pack them, in accordance with airline rules. You need to keep the receipt if you have a transfer in another country (it says exactly where the item was purchased). You cannot open packaging with liquid foods until the end of the flight, so you won’t be able to eat such food on the plane.
All EU countries, except the Netherlands, allow liquids purchased in the duty-free zone outside the European Union to be carried in hand luggage when transferring on their territory. When transplanted into one of the countries of the political union, the rules of the place of stay begin to apply to such products.
When purchasing products in duty-free shops, you need to be aware of the restrictions in the country where you are staying. For example, you cannot import alcohol over 3 liters into Russia.
How to transport liquids
Passengers often do not know whether they can take liquid products, in what quantities and how to carry them. List of liquids that are prohibited from being taken on board an aircraft if the volume of the container containing them is more than 100 ml:
- jelly;
- jam;
- pate;
- sour cream;
- sauce;
- oil;
- cheese (Camembert, mozzarella, ricotta, feta, brie);
- curd cheeses;
- canned food;
- aspic;
- confiture;
- pate;
- cottage cheese;
- yogurt;
- chocolate paste.
To avoid controversial situations, it is advisable that the volume be indicated on the container. There should be no more than 10 such jars. They must be packed in a transparent bag with a capacity of up to 1 liter. One person can have only one such package. It must be shown to security personnel separately. If the products are in hard packaging, the security may be interested in the contents, so it is better to leave such things in the luggage of the plane. Pre-flight control will confiscate any products with a capacity of over 100 ml, so it will not be possible to transport 20 ml of water in a 200 ml jar. These rules also apply to frozen liquid. Almost all airlines offer their passengers various drinks during the flight. However, there are also those where you have to pay for every glass of water. In this case, people take an empty bottle with them instead of liquid products. You can fill it with water at some airports and quench your thirst if necessary.
What food to take
Each airline has its own list of prohibited products. Somewhere it is more, somewhere it is less. Before the flight, you need to read the rules and find out what food you are allowed to take. This is especially true for products of animal origin. When crossing the border, you need to find out whether it is possible to transport meat, since it is prohibited in many countries.
List of products that are allowed to be taken on board:
- dried fruits;
- chocolate;
- cookie;
- peanut butter;
- nuts;
- fruits;
- sandwiches;
- bars;
- chips;
- drying;
- gingerbread;
- waffles;
- sausages and sausages.
It is forbidden to take a knife into the aircraft cabin, so you need to wash and cut food well at home before going to the airport. It is not advisable to take strong-smelling products with you. If they were taken, then good packaging will be required. Products should not be perishable or crumble much. You can take a vegetable salad with you on the ship. Sunflower oil for dressing must be packaged in accordance with the rules for liquid products.
In order not to take water with you on board the airliner, you can take a few fruits. These products quench your thirst well and are allowed on almost all airlines. Sauces can be transported along with fruits and vegetables in appropriate containers. Passengers carrying items such as jelly-filled pie may be turned away by security due to improperly packaged liquids.
When choosing carry-on luggage, you need to consider its size and weight. Some airlines allow you to carry small handbags that can hold very little food. These conditions affect the choice of food products, so before buying tickets, you need to familiarize yourself with the company’s rules in detail and find out whether you can carry certain types of food.
How to feed babies on a plane
Parents with small children who eat 6 to 12 times a day worry whether they can take food on the plane. Air carriers accommodate such passengers and do not apply strict restrictions when transporting children's products. Typically, food and drinks for children under 2 years of age are not included in the established general rules for transporting food and liquids in hand luggage on an airplane. They are included in a separate list, in which it is allowed to take the amount of food necessary for the entire flight, including transfers.
