What kind of city is Pattaya - what does a tourist need to know about it? Is it worth going to Pattaya? In what part of Thailand is Pattaya located?
The areas of Pattaya, which welcome more than five million tourists annually, are located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. I would like to note right away that in reality Pattaya refers to a fairly compact area of the coast within Beach Road and Walking Street. Moreover, the length of the entire coastline of the resort is about 30 km, which is almost 10 times more. It will probably come as a surprise to many that the word Pattaya is practically not used in official documentation and even in postal addresses.
Location of Pattaya districts + map
Pattaya Naklua District
For convenience, I will start describing the areas of Pattaya from the northern part of the resort, which is closest to Bangkok and located on the left side of the map posted on this page. All the described areas are limited from the west by the sea (Gulf of Thailand), and from the east by one of the main highways in Thailand called Sukhumvit Road. The first area is Naklua. This name is more popular among Russian-speaking tourists, but the Thais themselves call the area Naklua, so when communicating with Thais it is better to use the second option. By the way, on this map the area is also designated as Naklua, which is quite rare. A detailed description of the area is given in a separate article (you can follow the link).
I should immediately note that the area is quite quiet and calm, more suitable for those who are not suitable for the noisier central part of the city. In the Naklua area, a separate section of expensive Wongamat land with a beach of the same name is sometimes allocated, and the area itself, due to its location north of North Pattaya Street, is called North Pattaya. The area has everything you need for a comfortable life, and among the interesting and popular tourist sites in the Naklua area, one can note the magnificent Temple of Truth - the tallest wooden structure in the world, the North, a large fish market, and until recently the tallest building in the resort under called Northpoint.
Pattaya Central District
The most crowded and noisy area of the resort, located east from Beach Street to the Sukhumvit highway and bordered to the north and south by North Pattaya and South Pattaya streets, respectively (yes, the famous Walking Street is not included here, no matter what some blogs write about Thailand and Pattaya in particular). The majority of hotels in the resort are located in Central Pattaya, and there is a maximum concentration of massage parlors (including Body-to-body massage), shops and other entertainment venues. Pattaya's largest shopping centers are also located in this area, including the largest in the resort called Central Festival.
South Pattaya area
An area of Pattaya located south of South Street (pardon the pun) and located between Central Pattaya and the Jomtien area. To be honest, the area is not particularly touristy, I would say more of a transit area (one of the main city roads passes through the area - Thappraya Road, connecting the resort center with the Jomtien area). Of the useful facilities, we can only note the South Bus Station, the Bali Hai Pier (from where you can), a go-kart track and one of the Big C hypermarkets (on the Sukhumvit Highway).
However, just one street turns the area into a real Mecca for lovers of nightlife: the famous Walking Street. During the day, the street is quite quiet and uncrowded, practically no different from others. However, starting from 18-00 local time, the street becomes pedestrian and blooms with numerous neon signs. Almost a hundred Go Go, several large discos, many restaurants of various types, beer bars, billiard rooms, many hotels of various price categories in the adjacent side streets, including hotels with hourly rates under the signs of “Short time room”, all kinds of exotic shows and much, much more. Of course, the resort is rapidly developing and the number of streets with bars is constantly increasing, while many of them are no worse in their own way, but the kilometer-long Walking Street still remains the most popular and crowded.
Pattaya Pratumnak area
To the south of the Bali Hai pier is Pratumnak Hill, which is the highest point of the resort and the small prestigious area of the same name, which is a kind of local analogue of Beverly Hills. In addition to the residence of the Princess of Thailand, there are quite expensive hotels located on the coast, a beautiful park with exotic plants and trees, observation decks, a Buddhist Temple, as well as a Buddha statue on the top of a hill, and a city radio station. The guideline for this Pattaya area is the Pattaya Park Hotel with a water park, or rather its tower, from which you can go down on a bungee. Also of interest is the site located next to the huge letters PATTAYA, which glow brightly on the hill in various colors. You can find hotels at guaranteed best prices in this and other areas of the city using the methods described on the page:.
In the area, which is the geographical center of the administrative district of Nopra, there are many Russians, and not even tourists, but living in condominiums that have been purchased or rented for a long time (part of the area is sometimes called the “Russian Village”). The main disadvantage of this area of Pattaya, in my opinion, is the higher prices for accommodation and other services in the area, as well as its poor transport accessibility (there may be problems with tuk-tuks, but long-term accommodation usually means your own motorbike, so in what At least the drawback is not so obvious). By the way, the best way to assess the situation in this and other areas of the resort is the program, with which you can see with your own eyes in detail most of the streets and attractions of the city.
Pattaya Jomtien area
The southernmost of the tourist areas of Pattaya, in which today there is a maximum concentration of the Russian-speaking population, both tourists and those living in Pattaya for a long time. The area is experiencing a real construction boom: hotels and multi-apartment condominiums are being built, including the chic Reflection high-rise, the tallest residential building in Pattaya for the coming years, built almost on the southern border of the area, beyond which the administrative unit of Na Jomtien begins - a number of condominiums and hotels, the most famous of which is the Ambassador, from the upper floors of which there is an online broadcast, from which I so enjoy watching the sun set over the sea.
This hotel was originally built as a casino hotel, but gambling at the resort and in Thailand has not yet been allowed. By the way, even when I was going to Thailand on a package tour, this particular hotel was always one of the most affordable. It seems that a similar situation is observed now, but I’m just warning you that saving on a ticket (if you still haven’t decided to go to Pattaya on your own and don’t want to fly to Thailand cheaply) can lead to the fact that you’ll have to spend a lot on transport, because it’s located The hotel is a bit far from the city center and you can’t get there cheaply with a regular tuk-tuk. And you will lose not only money, but also time, which for me personally during vacation is much more important. (This was not an anti-advertisement for the hotel, just a friendly warning).
Concerning Jomtien area in Pattaya, then we can note the presence here of one of the longest and fairly clean beaches in the city limits of the resort, which I personally found quite good for relaxation (you can read more in the article). Other useful points for tourists include a fairly large night market at the intersection of the Sukhumvit Highway and Theprasit Street (the northern border of the Jomtien district). Russian speech can be heard everywhere in the market; even many Thai traders already know Russian to the extent necessary for trade and bargaining. The market is large and crowded, I personally could not get around it all.
In the same area (squares L4 and M4 on the map) there is a Tesco Lotus hypermarket and a large store of branded shoes and clothing at discounted prices, Outlet Mall. To be honest, I’ve been to this store twice, but I never noticed the low prices. I don’t worry too much about my appearance, so I don’t know much about brands. But I can say that high-quality clothing from European brands in shopping centers in Poland, where I usually buy clothes, often costs much less. But when you have time, you can go and check it out, then write in the comments :)
This is where I end description of Pattaya areas. I can add that the part of the city located beyond the Sukhumvit highway is called eastern Pattaya. There is a railway connection there, you can buy inexpensive low-rise real estate, and there are some attractions of Pattaya, which I will talk about in a separate article. On the Sukhumvit highway itself, in addition to hypermarkets, there are also shops and restaurants, including the ubiquitous McDonalds, many car dealerships, the country's largest Duty Free store and a beautiful dividing strip on the highway itself with neatly trimmed bushes and palm trees. In the article, I gave some recommendations that should help choose this or that part of the city for lovers of various types of holidays at the resort.

Pattaya is alive. This is the most dynamic, vibrant and vibrant resort in Thailand. Pattaya can make you fall in love with yourself for life, you can not understand it and obsessively talk over and over again about the disadvantages of the trip, but you can treat it correctly and in return get exactly what you want: a quiet holiday in a secluded hotel, the crazy nightlife of Walking Street , amazing Thai temples, decent sea, exciting excursions, delicious and unusual food. The main thing is to clearly and intelligently formulate your desires, and Pattaya will help them come true.
In addition, the resort is very affordable in terms of prices, which makes it more accessible than Phuket or Koh Samui, and is conveniently located just a couple of hours drive from Bangkok with its airports and numerous low-cost airlines. This allows you to take off at any moment and fly to the other end of Thailand (or even to a new country) for an amount equivalent to a good dinner with drinks in a not-so-pretentious restaurant.

Districts of Pattaya
Tourist Pattaya lies between the sea and the Sukhumvit Road and is conveniently “cut” through streets into several large areas, so there shouldn’t be any special problems with orientation. In addition, on every corner there are free advertising brochures with more or less intelligible maps.
All above North Pattaya Rd is conditional North Pattaya. There is not much entertainment here, but there are enough local shops, inexpensive cafes and budget accommodation in the area with the wonderful name of Naklya to Russian ears, as well as more expensive ones in the Wongamat microdistrict, interesting for the small private beaches of coastal hotels. An important point on the map is the wooden Temple of Truth.
A piece of the resort pie between North and South Pattaya Rd - Central Pattaya. Noisy, fun, drunk, crowded - these are both pros and cons, to each their own. Beach and Second Rd run parallel to the sea - streets with a bunch of shops, bars, cafes, massage parlors, there will always be inexpensive accommodation, a variety of drinks, food, company and entertainment. The beach is not pleasant, the water is dirty, there is not enough space. Central Pattaya is suitable for desperate party-goers and those thirsting for a special nightlife Walking street, which, in fact, is the main attraction of the area.
The area below South Pattaya Rd is South Pattaya. In it, tourists are interested in coastal Pratamnak and Jomtien. These are fairly quiet areas with a focus on family recreation and appropriate entertainment and infrastructure. The beaches and water are cleaner, there is much less debauchery, the price tag in hotels is higher, but this is a reasonable price to pay for the advantages listed above.
Another option is to live off the Sukhumvit highway. Here you can rent very decent housing for little money, eat inexpensively and tasty during the day in establishments that are not aimed at “Russian-tourists”, and at night you can sleep peacefully, without tossing and turning because of the noise of a neighboring disco or neighbors who have been out for a walk. The downside is the distance, you will have to rent a bike or car (and give up alcohol) or include a permanent “taxi” item in your budget.

What to try
It so happened that Pattaya is no longer quite a Thai city, streams of tourists from different countries, an endless series of those who are trying to make money from them - and also from different countries, mix linguistic and cultural boundaries into a strange vinaigrette. This is especially noticeable in the local cuisine. In cafes and restaurants, national delicacies are reshaped to suit the requirements of capricious “packagers” or boring white pensioners, spicy becomes bland, sour becomes sweet, oriental becomes European, and cheap becomes expensive. This is especially true for establishments with Russian letters on the menu.
But this multinational cocktail also has its advantages. For example, Indian cuisine is presented very well in Pattaya - a good opportunity to discover wonderful flatbreads and gravy sauces. You see several groups of Indians at the tables of an Indian cafe - feel free to stop and start studying the mysterious menu.
If you want to try Thai food, then again focus on the natives, refuse the restaurant and buy “pla pao” fish rolled in salt, stuffed with aromatic herbs and baked on coals right in front of you right on the street, try it lightly fried and pressed through a special press “crop-crop” squid, and for dessert, order “roti” or “kanom-buang” pancakes stuffed with mango, coconut, banana and other delicacies from a mobile merchant-cook on a moped.
And of course, Pattaya would not be itself without trays of fried cockroaches, crickets, caterpillars, larvae and the like, once crawling reptiles. They cannot be called a purely local dish; more often than not, they are an attraction for tourists. But why not?
Cafes and restaurants in Pattaya
The resort has many cafes and restaurants: from Asian cuisine to quality French cuisine. There are restaurants with exotic dishes: rare seafood, ostrich, crocodile.
Catering establishments in Pattaya can be roughly divided into nondescript eateries for locals, inexpensive street cafes for everyone, and everything else designed for tourists, rich and not so rich. The first ones may be frightened by excessive simplicity, not the most ideal cleanliness and the menu is only in Thai. Their advantages are real Thai food, amazing prices and the hospitality of the owners. A truly hearty lunch without alcohol in such a place will cost 100-120 THB.
For a soft drink in an inexpensive street cafe for tourists and middle-class Thais they ask for 30-80 THB, not the most fancy dish with rice or noodles will cost 40-80 THB, the famous tom yam can cost 80-200 THB per plate, but Unfortunately, the relationship between the quality of soup and its price is not always visible. The average bill in the food court for a set of first, second and salad is 150-200 THB. Often this is a good opportunity to get acquainted with local cuisine without pointing your finger at the sky: the composition of the dish, its price and appearance are introduced by clear and convenient pictures above the distribution lines.
Tourist establishments offer cuisine from different countries, many specialize in European and Thai dishes; the price for a serving of rice with chicken or pork can start from 120-160 THB and up to astronomical amounts in really cool and rated restaurants.

Entertainment and attractions in Pattaya
Many consider the main entertainment of Pattaya to be Walking street, bars and the thriving sex industry of all colors, directions and styles around them, but fortunately, the resort is not at all limited to this “hot” set and offers a whole scattering of events and excursions for every taste.
The majestic and vibrant Thai temples will help you stop and think. Perhaps the most popular (and how could it be otherwise, if it is visible from everywhere?) is the local Big Buddha or Big Buddha Hill. Here you can get acquainted with a whole complex of religious monuments and architectural compositions, receive the blessing of the monks and clear your karma, buy souvenirs and contribute to the maintenance of the temple by donating a small amount. And at the top of the hill it is a little cooler and fresher - also a reason to take an excursion. Another famous cult object is the wooden Temple of Truth, standing on Cape Rachvate in the Naklua region. There is a garden and a cafe all around, you can ride elephants or quad bikes, admire the sea from the cape, in a word - spend the whole day leisurely and measuredly.
The complete opposite of temples, but still an acquaintance with local culture, will be a visit to the Tiffany show. Only those who have seen it with their own eyes have the right to snort condemningly or shake their heads in disbelief. They say that even the toughest Chelyabinsk and Tagil workers came out of the famous transvestite cabaret performance with happy faces and whistling their favorite tunes. It's hard to imagine a better advertisement. Oh, and Tiffany is one of the top ten best shows in the world according to Travel.com magazine.
Mini Siam Park will help you see the whole world in 3 hours, which has collected on its territory miniature copies of famous sights from America, Asia, Asia and Europe: Egyptian pyramids, Eiffel Tower, St. Basil's Cathedral. If all this has already been examined in the original, then it is worth paying attention to the beautiful copies of the most famous Thai temples and pagodas. Miniature lovers should also enjoy the collection of the Bottle Museum. In just a few rooms there are about 300 bottles with replicas of landmarks painstakingly assembled inside them. It is also very convenient that the museum is located next to Mini Siam Park.
Pattaya for children
Perhaps, Pattaya will not get rid of the “resort for adults” stamp for a long time, but serious work is being done in this direction, and a holiday with a child here is no longer perceived as something extravagant and unacceptable.
In May 2016, Thailand's largest water park, RamaYana, opened 30 km south of Pattaya. More than 50 water complexes and attractions await guests of all ages, many of which, according to park representatives, have no analogues in Southeast Asia. You can order a transfer to the water park directly on the entertainment establishment’s website. Considering the size of the park, it is better to go straight to the opening.
With older kids, you can go to the Dream World amusement park, which is located on the northern outskirts of Bangkok. It takes about 2 hours to get here from Pattaya; tours to Dream World are offered by many of the resort's excursion agencies. There is no analogue in Pattaya itself yet.
Other entertainment for children is getting to know the living world of Thailand. One of the most important zoos in the country, Khao Kheow, is located north of Pattaya. It will take at least a day to explore the famous open zoo, where you can walk next to the animals and feed them. But it is better to be prepared for the request to visit the menagerie again. South of Pattaya, guests will find the Nong Nooch Tropical Park.
Everything about the city of Pattaya for tourists - the main advantages, disadvantages. Who is this resort suitable for and what time of year should you go there? Entertainment, attractions, prices, beaches, money, transport - and much more! Comprehensive information for tourists - the nuances and subtleties of relaxation.
Pattaya is a small but very popular resort city in Thailand, located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. It is located in the southeast of the country, near the capital of the kingdom - Bangkok. They are separated by only 160 km. It has an immodest role - it is recognized as a city of sins, entertainment and debauchery. By the way, unbridled fun will be much cheaper than at other resorts in Thailand.
The city's territory is small - only 22 km². According to official data, about 120,000 people permanently live there. In fact, the population is approaching 500,000 people. Pattaya is divided into districts: Naklua, Central (Wongamat), North (Naklua), South (Pratumnak) Pattaya and Jomtien.
For residents of large Russian cities, Pattaya may seem like a small village with modest, unimproved areas. In comparison: the area, for example, of Saratov: 394 km². It is worth considering that this is far from the largest village in Russia.
“The main thing is not size, but convenience and comfort,” you say. And rightly so. Despite the fact that the city is located in the industrial section of the east coast of Thailand, the main source of income is tourism. But even with this there are small problems. Read about everything below!
Who is the Pattaya resort suitable for - advantages and disadvantages
- Undoubtedly, you should start getting acquainted with the land of smiles from Pattaya, because:
- This is where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the country as much as possible;
- Join the flavor of Asia with all its disadvantages and advantages;
- Go on many sightseeing, popular excursions;
- It’s great to “break away”, changing the atmosphere of working, boring days.
Among the advantages can be noted:
- Comparatively cheap accommodation, food, entertainment;
- Direct flights (charter flights), proximity to the airport in Bangkok (scheduled flights);
- Huge selection of entertainment venues for adults;
- There are a large number of islands around, and they have good transport accessibility.
Everyone has their own shortcomings. The most obvious ones, no matter how funny it may sound, stem from the advantages:
- Constant noise and commotion on the streets. Especially relevant in the center;
- Pollution of the sea, pedestrian roads on the streets;
- Relatively low quality of service;
- Large crowds, queues for popular shows/entertainment.
This is most noticeable during the “peak” season. To summarize, Pattaya is suitable for:
- Active recreation without children;
- Young people who want to have fun day and night;
- Lonely young people;
- Those for whom a beach holiday is not in the first place.
When is the best time to vacation in Pattaya – climate, weather
As such, no one will ever give you accurate forecasts. In general, in Thailand it is summer all year round. In Pattaya, this statement is most relevant, because the hot tropical climate is most stable in this part of the country. The monsoon season, which is most noticeable from November to May, is usually less vibrant than in other resorts in the country. Objectively, taking into account the possible variations of recreation and a lot of entertainment in Pattaya, you can fly to this place at any time of the year.
However, there is a conditional “peak season”, which falls in the winter months. At this time, there is less rain in Pattaya, and clouds in the sky are rare guests. You should know that in the “high season” prices skyrocket several times.
When is the best time to go to Pattaya? If you are looking for adventure, relaxing in bars, clubs, massage and erotic salons, the “reasonable” time for relaxation is summer, spring. As mentioned earlier, during the generally accepted “off-season”, prices drop significantly.
If you plan to visit the surrounding area, travel to the islands, or depart from this location on long excursion programs, for example, to the Similan Islands, it is optimal to go in the winter months.
Book trips, accommodation and excursions in advance. Before the New Year holidays, all offers are selling like hot cakes.
What is the sea like in Pattaya - beach holiday
Geographically, Pattaya is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, which, in turn, flows into the South China Sea, then into the Pacific Ocean.
The beach area does not imply a relaxing, family vacation. In addition, the water in this area is quite dirty - household and “natural” garbage. The situation is aggravated by a large concentration of boats, boats, and large barges.
To say that there is no sea in Pattaya is not fair. But you will hardly find famous beaches “like in the picture”. The exception is locations that are located outside the resort, which cannot be reached by the usual Thai route taxis - tuk-tuks.
Also, the solution is a trip to neighboring islands. Fortunately, there are many of them. And yet, when choosing Pattaya with the implication of a relaxation holiday, or a vacation involving a calm, beach holiday, pay attention to hotels with good, large swimming pools.
Excursions, entertainment
Definitely, Pattaya is considered one of the most popular resorts in Thailand. Thousands of tourists come here every day. Where there is great demand, there will be supply.
One of the most fun activities is elephant riding
The excursion menu is simply “bursting with offers.” It is because of this fact that many tourists choose this location. Why is that? It's simple! The geographical location of Pattaya is the most favorable in relation to excursion sites. In addition, Pattaya became the first city to “grow up” to receive guests. The palm led to the opening of many travel agencies, and as a result, the organization of many programs.
The English language is not held in high esteem by the Thais. It is quite difficult to find a person who speaks this language fluently. Don't you own it either? Refer to body language.
Everything is clear with the excursions, you definitely won’t have any problems. Exactly the same as with the choice of entertainment venue for a night out.
All over the world, Pattaya is recognized as one of the most vibrant locations for nightlife, including intimate ones. As they say, for every taste and color - whoever is looking for what. Extravagant shows “Alcazar” and “Tiffany” are suitable for married couples. For youth groups there are numerous clubs scattered throughout the city. For single guys looking for sex adventures, there are many customer-oriented bars with far from modest girls.
Attractions
As such, you will not find attractions with a celebrity level a la the Eiffel and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. There are no large-scale cultural and historical sites within the city. Interesting locations that can be classified as attractions include Big Buddha, the Temple of Truth, the floating market and Mini Siam.
Correctly pronounced with emphasis on the last vowel - Pattaya.
In addition to Pattaya attractions, you can “capture” the main tourist sites of Bangkok. Fortunately, the city is only two hours away.
Food, cafes, restaurants
There are many cafes with different cuisines, price ranges and levels of service. Lots of street food establishments, Thai fast foods and merchants wandering along the beach. You definitely won't have any problems choosing a place for an evening meal.
Please note that the vast majority of hotels in Thailand operate on a BB system - breakfast only.
Prices in Pattaya, money, ATMs
In Pattaya, as throughout Thailand, the Thai baht (THB) is used. Upon arrival, it is advisable to exchange money for local currency. Payment in dollars/rubles can only be made at street souvenir shops. Official establishments, local supermarkets and tour agencies will send you to the exchange office.
There is an opinion that prices in Pattaya are cheap. No matter how it is. In addition to the jump in the exchange rate, which is not in our favor, holidays in this city are becoming more expensive every year. Of course, in comparison with other resorts in Thailand, Pattaya is recognized as one of the cheapest locations.
As for automated teller machines (ATM), there will be no problems with them either. On every street there are points for issuing funds and various exchange points.
Before leaving, notify your bank that you are heading to Thailand. Without doing this, the bank's security service may block the card for “suspicious transactions” in an unnatural place for you.
Shopping, markets
Shopping in Pattaya is multifaceted. This word maximally reflects the essence of the local “buy and sell”. There is room for any merchant here. Starting from presentable middle and business class shopping centers - offering clothes, equipment and products at fixed prices, ending with night markets - selling their goods for pennies.
Pattaya markets have very cheap clothes. For example, shorts can be bought for 150 baht, a swimsuit for 100 baht, slippers for 150 baht.
For tourists who want to do some serious shopping, we remind you that when leaving Thailand you can return the VAT (7%) paid upon purchase.
Transport
The most popular and cheapest way to get around is the tuk-tuk, a Thai minibus. Initially, such transport does not inspire confidence - questionable, unapproved routes, low driving safety. In fact, there is no alternative option. There is no other public transport in Pattaya. For example, the usual ones for us - a regular bus, tram or trolleybus.
A tuk-tuk ride costs 10 baht. The price doubles for travel to remote areas.
However, there is a more widely used transportation option - a motorbike. Daily rent will cost 200-300 baht. This method of transportation is relevant for those who know how to drive and are not afraid of chaotic, dense traffic.
Of course, as in all cities of the world, in Pattaya you can take a taxi on the street or order it through an application, for example, Uber.
Mobile communications, internet
In Pattaya, as in the whole of Thailand, there are three cellular operators. Depending on the choice of tariff, calls within the network will cost 1-3 baht, while calls abroad will cost from 10 baht. Tariffs that include mobile Internet cost around 25 baht/day.
You can purchase SIM cards at any sales office of the selected operator, or at 7-eleven supermarkets. To choose the optimal tariff “for yourself”, consult with the seller. Depending on your goals (calls abroad/within the network/mobile Internet), he will select the most advantageous prepaid tariff option for you. !
Please keep in mind that SIM card registration is not possible without a passport.
Wi-fi is available in almost every cafe, restaurant, and hotel. As a rule, the data transfer speed is sufficient for communicating via instant messengers, loading websites, and searching for the necessary information.

How to relax in Pattaya to get a lot of new experiences, see all the most interesting things and at the same time have time to relax on the beach and relax. We have put together a rich holiday plan in Pattaya, combining the most interesting excursions, attractions and beach holidays.
How to relax in Pattaya is interesting
So, you are already counting down the long-awaited days until you board the plane and fly off happily to Thailand. Vacation is just around the corner. You are looking forward to new sensations and imagining how everything will turn out, studying information on how best to relax in Pattaya.
Some people understand the word relaxation as lying on the beach, swimming in sea water and sunbathing, so much so that everyone will envy your bronze tan. And of course you can’t do without eating local delicacies.
And for some, a holiday in Pattaya is primarily associated with a rich program, with excursions and sightseeing. And already as accompanying elements are the sun, sea and beach.
Today we will talk about the second category of vacationers. About those who came for impressions and want to take with them a lot of joyful memories and a sea of photographs.
How to plan your holiday in Pattaya
This thought came to me after I had listened and read a lot about people, our ordinary tourists, who, tired and headlong, trudged along all the excursions in a row that they bought on the first day, and then, exhausted, barely even reached their beach.
This is because it was better to plan some moments of relaxation in advance.
What to do in Pattaya and how to spend an interesting holiday
On your first day, it is better not to go on any excursions. Relax! Most often, tourists are brought to Pattaya in the afternoon. Tired from the road, the first thing you naturally want to do is take a shower and catch your breath.
Only by 5-6 pm you will be free. And it would not be entirely reasonable to run to an excursion tent and take at least something for today, no matter what, the main thing is that they take it somewhere.
Don’t worry, you will have time to do everything, you are on vacation, so relax and don’t rush to get anywhere on the first day. It’s better to book 1-2 short excursions for tomorrow. For example, Nong Nooch Garden in the morning and Show Colosseum in the evening.
What to do in Pattaya on the first evening
On the first evening, you definitely take a camera and it doesn’t matter that you haven’t tanned yet! The first photos will then be viewed with emotion upon arrival home.
So, we took our camera, took a shower, and now we’re going to the restaurant. You're hungry from the road. And here a thousand and one smells hit your nose. And what a selection of seafood... mmm!
Choose any restaurant or cafe you like, preferably with a sea view. We order everything we dreamed about for so long before our vacation. We’re already starting to feel like we’re on vacation!
After dinner, we go to the sea and walk along the embankment. Looking at the sea, thoughts come to mind of how tomorrow you will be splashing in it.
This is how the first day should go. Not tense, not intense, but calm and unhurried. Everything will be fine, don’t worry, because tomorrow will be a new day.
Day 1: excursion to Nong Nooch, lunch, beach, show with transvestites
Today can already be called the beginning of your full vacation.
In the morning, and you will wake up surprisingly very early, a minibus will come for you and take you on an excursion to.
How to relax in Pattaya and see all the interesting things? Start with an easy tour of Madame Nong Nooch's garden
The excursion to Nong Nooch lasts from 8 am to 1 pm. Therefore, at lunchtime you will already be free, although emotionally charged and with a bunch of photographs of the beautiful garden.
You can devote your free time to the beach and going to a cafe. You are free until evening.
And in the evening, around eight o’clock, you will find an exciting show with transvestites that will not leave anyone indifferent. We advise you to forget about the fact that they are trans and enjoy the costumes and dancing.
We visited similar cabaret shows in Phuket, you can read our impressions and.
Day 2. Trip to the islands. Excursion to Koh Samet or independently to Koh Larn
We finally arrived at the seaside. And since the sea and beaches in Pattaya are far from the best, we will go to the island for a beach holiday. I suggest taking a one-day excursion to.
All day on the island we enjoy the white sand and are amazed at how clean the water is. The main thing is not to overdo it with tanning, apply cream more often. And don’t forget to take a lot of pictures in a swimsuit, so that you can later show it to your friends and acquaintances, saying that in Pattaya you can also get a quality beach holiday.
On Koh Samet on your own
But if you have limited time or don’t want to stress, then it will be easier and faster to go to the nearest island of Koh Larn.
Where can I order a transfer from the airport?
We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.
On your own to Koh Larn
If you don’t want to spend money on an excursion to Koh Samet, you can go to the closest one from Pattaya yourself. It is a little less exotic than Samet and has more tourists. But compared to a beach holiday in Pattaya itself, Koh Larn will definitely pleasantly impress you with the blue water.
Day 3. Khao Kheo Zoo and rest
Everything should be in moderation. In order not to expose our pampered and already, whatever one may say, slightly reddened body, today we will spare it and go to .
Coming to Thailand and not going to see kangaroos, sloths, lions and a huge number of other animals would be a miss. We will not allow it, because we organize our vacation rationally and variedly.
As with Nong Nooch Garden, after the zoo for lunch you will be free and on your own again. You can spend this time at the hotel by the pool, go to the beach, and in the evening visit a massage parlor and have dinner at a restaurant.
Day 4. Temple of Truth and Walking Street
On the fourth day, you have already gotten used to it and can go somewhere on your own without the help of travel agencies.
In the first half of the day you relax at the hotel or on the beach, and in the afternoon take public transport, which is called here. The fare costs only 10 baht ($0.3). By minibus you get to one of the most popular temples in Pattaya - the Temple of Truth, the largest wooden temple in the world.
Everything is simple there. You buy a ticket and explore the temple up and down for as long as you wish. The photographs come out very impressive.
After the cultural program, the non-cultural program begins. We take a tuk-tuk in the opposite direction and go to the famous Walking Street of debauchery in central Pattaya.
Many people say that if you haven’t been to Walking Street, then you haven’t been to Pattaya. This opinion, of course, is exaggerated, but why not go. It will be interesting because you have never seen anything like this before.
Along the way, stop by some bar, order food, drink and spend an extraordinary evening. And while other tourists dine in their boring cafes, you will remain in the epicenter of the evening life of the city of sin. There will be something to remember at your leisure and tell your friends.
By the way, in most bars you can play billiards for free if you order something to drink.
Day 5. Relax on the Dancing Girl Beach
What an intense and bright day we had yesterday, and especially the evening. Today we just need silence and inaction. Yes, and yesterday my body had a rest from the sun. You can again devote time to a beach holiday.
After the island of Samet or Koh Larn, we are already spoiled. Now the beaches of Pattaya look depressing. But we have one ace up our sleeve. We are going to the beach with a very original name – ““. We'll spend the whole day under the palm trees, cuddling with refreshing drinks.
Don’t forget to wear a different swimsuit so that you can have even more different photos for your loved ones.
And in the evening after the beach you can manage your time as you wish. But it’s better not to strain yourself and not repeat yesterday’s adventures in the bars on Volkin Street. Because tomorrow you will have a two-day trip to another province, where a completely different Thailand will appear before you.
Day 6-7. Excursion to the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi province
So, we take the Bangkok Classic excursion. You will 100% get all the most exciting things for your first acquaintance with Bangkok. See the city, ride a river bus, stroll through the Emerald Palace and have dinner at the restaurant of one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok - Baiyok Sky.
Tall skyscrapers and a walk on river buses
Unique temples
Day 11. Ramayana Water Park
Although yesterday's excursion was not as tiring as a two-day excursion to the River Kwai, you still want to be filled with the energy of sun and idleness again. Isn’t this why people come on vacation?) We’re going to.
We are taken in a comfortable minibus to the largest and most sophisticated water park. And if until now you were somehow biased, like I was in my time, about water parks, after the Ramayana you will change your opinion about this type of entertainment.
You don't have to go on the water slides, although I assure you that you won't be able to resist them
You can simply relax, sunbathe, swim in stunning pools, explore the vast territory of the Ramayana and say to yourself: It’s right that you came here.
It’s best to arrive at the water park right when it opens, or at least around 11 o’clock if you want to get some sleep. And stay until closing. Personally, 5 hours spent in this paradise for adults was not enough for us.
Day 12. Military Beach
Water parks and swimming pools are, of course, good, but nothing can replace the sea! And even though the vacation is already coming to an end and there is noticeably less money left, we still have a good beach in stock, which we will see today and spend the whole day, leaving only the evening free.
We do not recommend Central PTT, since the sea is the dirtiest there, it is always noisy and there are the most people there. In the evening, prostitutes and trannies walk everywhere. Not safe. Do not live in the center with children under any circumstances! We also do not recommend distant areas such as Na Jomtien, Ambassador, Bang Saray, since there you will be very far from everything.

When is the best time to go to Pattaya?
How to relax in Pattaya so that everything is perfect? In addition to our advice, come during the season to relax in Pattaya to the fullest and not have to adjust your plans because of the weather.
The best time is from mid-November to March. At this time there are no jellyfish and the sea is clear, both in Pattaya and on the islands. There is no rain and the weather will be sunny every day. You will not swelter from the heat, and gray rainy weather will not ruin your plans and photos, as if you came on vacation to Pattaya in the low season, from April to August, or at the peak of the rainy season, September-October.
Happy holidays everyone!
millions of tourists prefer Pattaya, a resort city with developed infrastructure, a large number of attractions and entertainment. What do those who are planning to go there for the first time need to know about this place?
Pattaya is deservedly considered one of the busiest and most interesting resorts in the country. This city, with a population of just over one hundred and twenty thousand, is constantly home to more than half a million locals and foreigners from all over the world during the high season. Travelers are attracted here primarily by:
- a variety of recreation, from hanging out in numerous night cubes to meditation in one of the quiet ancient temples;
- proximity to, thanks to which you can fly to Pattaya on an inexpensive flight, and from the capital’s airport get to your destination by ground transport;
- the presence of several tolerable beaches;
- more affordable cost of vacation compared to or.
The resort is located in the southeastern part of the country, on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. From, which is located one hundred and sixty-five kilometers from Pattaya, getting to the city is not difficult in one and a half to two hours.
How Pattaya became a tourist destination
The first mentions of Pattaya date back to the eighteenth century. At that time, on the site of the modern city there was a modest fishing village. It was called Thap Praya, for a long time it was a district of Chonburi and did not even have the status of a populated area. Only in the middle of the last century did wealthy Thais from Bangkok begin to gradually transform the remote but very beautiful village into a real cottage town, where they could have a good break from the noisy streets of the metropolis on weekends.
In the summer of 1959, the village was first visited by American soldiers released from a nearby base. They liked the clean beaches of Pattaya so much that foreigners spent almost their entire week-long vacation there. And then they kept coming back here. As a result, the once tranquil fishing village gradually turned into a real entertainment center for wealthy Thais and foreigners. Already in the early sixties, hotels, restaurants and cafes began to appear here. And due to the fact that US military personnel most often came to relax in these areas, more and more bars, nightclubs and other entertainment for adults appeared in Pattaya.
At the end of the seventies, the once modest village received city status. And the eighties and the first half of the nineties marked a golden era in the history of the resort, which was chosen first by Americans and Europeans, and then by tourists from post-Soviet countries.
Climate and weather conditions
The city is located in the subequatorial zone, due to which the temperature in it all year round does not fall below twenty-two degrees and does not rise above thirty-three degrees Celsius. But the best time to go to the resort is during the dry season, which lasts all winter. But in spring, summer or autumn, the weather in Pattaya deteriorates sharply due to the tropical monsoons. So during this period, it is possible to spend the entire vacation in a hotel, hiding from heavy downpours that flood a number of streets.
Pattaya beaches
It should be immediately clarified that the city is far from the best place to relax on the beautiful Cote d'Azur. The beaches of Pattaya are currently significantly inferior in cleanliness and beauty to many other resorts in the country. But still among them there are quite acceptable to visit. Eg:
All these places are perfect for water skiing, banana boating or windsurfing. But for divers, it’s still better to go to one of the picturesque islands near the coast to dive into the clear water of the eye-catching coral reefs.
Sights of Pattaya
Some of the most interesting places in the vicinity of the city are the ancient temples surrounding it. All guests of the resort should definitely admire the beauty and sculptures around it, as well as look into the one made of wood.
Fans of exhibitions can look forward to the Bottle Museum, whose exhibits include hundreds of amazing miniatures. And in the park, in just a few hours you will be able to admire replicas of the greatest attractions from around the world, from the Egyptian pyramids to the Eiffel Tower.
One of the most “piquant” attractions in Pattaya is the Tiffany Show, where transvestites perform. But defenders of morality should not be indignant - the performance really fascinates with its scope and beauty. No wonder it is considered one of the best shows on the planet.
Resort transport
Like many other cities in Thailand, the following types of transport are available to tourists in Pattaya:
- Knock-knock. Here they are called songthaews - pickup trucks with benches installed in the back. Travel in such a minibus will cost approximately ten to twenty baht.
- Motorcycle taxi. The easiest way to quickly and relatively inexpensively get to your destination. The trip will cost from thirty to one hundred baht. But at the same time, you will have to come to terms with the fact that you will have a dirty helmet on your head for some time.
- Taxi. A comfortable car will take you where you need to go for just one hundred (maximum one hundred and fifty) baht. True, at night, when young people relax in clubs or bars and regularly move between them, the cost of the trip will double or even triple.
- Rent a bike or car. If you have a driving license and experience in Southeast Asia (driving in Thailand is on the left), and also want to give up alcoholic beverages during your vacation, you can rent a vehicle. Such a service will cost two hundred to four hundred baht per day in the case of a moped and in the amount of five hundred to one and a half thousand baht if you want to get a car.
Also, do not forget that for many events outside the hotel you will be transported by buses specially hired for this purpose. But their availability should be checked with the organizers of the trips in advance.
Excursions Pattaya
In addition to the attractions in the vicinity of the city, there are other entertainments for every taste. For example, with children it is worth visiting RamaYana, which is the largest water park in the country and is located only thirty kilometers from the city. And teenagers will be impressed by the variety of attractions at Dream World. And fans of shopping tours should definitely look into the boutiques on the street and rent a boat to visit the shopping arcades of the Floating Market.
The whole family can also go to the Khao Kheow Zoo, where visitors walk right next to wild animals and have the opportunity to pet and feed them. Just south of the city you can enjoy a performance with elephants, which is held in. And these are not all the interesting places in Pattaya and its environs.
Pros and cons of holidays in Pattaya
Back in the second half of the last century, Pattaya gained a reputation as a “city of vice”, thanks to the large number of entertainments for adults. But now the city leadership is trying in every possible way (and quite successfully) to get rid of this title, allocating huge funds for infrastructure development. So, modern travelers are attracted here not by sex tourism, but by the opportunity to relax inexpensively and comfortably with the whole family.
Of the obvious shortcomings of the resort, only the far from clean beaches catch the eye. But this minus is more than compensated by the presence of amusement parks, temples, museums and other attractions.
When going on vacation, remember the following things:
- The best way to do this is to purchase a local SIM card;
- Just in case, make sure to have several copies of documents. For example, a scan of your passport will be required not only if the original is lost, but also if you rent a car or bike;
- bargain with taxi drivers and local shop owners. They are almost always ready to give in a little.
