Excursion to Brest. Excursions around Brest. Reviews for the program
Brest is not only the westernmost city of Belarus, but also a real cultural and, most importantly, historical pearl of the country. On its territory and in the vicinity of the city there are many places that are national landmarks or associated with the most important events in Belarusian history.
One of its pages was the terrible Great Patriotic War, which began for the country precisely with the defense of the Brest Fortress, which, by the way, lasted a whole month, inscribing it in bloody letters in the chronicle of history. Therefore, it would be logical to be one of the first to name a tour of Brest military. It usually includes a visit to the Brest Fortress, an inspection of the bastions and fortifications that held an unequal battle back in 1941, as well as a visit to the military museum located on the territory of the fortress. Of course, such an excursion does not end with the Brest Fortress alone. It is continued by Brest streets branching off from it with corresponding memorials and even military cemeteries or mass graves. And despite the fact that the theme of this tour is very tragic, the excursion itself is very impressive and memorable. It can be especially recommended for tourists traveling with families (as an educational element for the younger generation) and fans of everything connected with this period of Soviet history.
The most popular excursion among the average traveler is a sightseeing tour "Thousand Year Brest" etc. During its course, local guides offer to get acquainted with the centuries-old history of Brest, starting from its first stages (using the example of, for example, the archaeological museum "Berestye") to the Great Patriotic War with a visit to the same Brest Fortress and modern times, for which the Museum of Saved Valuables is indicative (testifying to the richness of Belarusian and Slavic culture and the productive work of the Belarusian border guards, who prevented many rare works of art from being taken out of the country), Brest railway station and interesting monuments on the pedestrian Sovetskaya Street.
Of course, to attend such excursions, you can use the services of local guides by contacting them via the Internet or by phone. But discovering the city on your own will be no less exciting. Its center with the main attractions is so compact and clear that finding the place you are interested in on the map will not be difficult, you can walk from one place to another (with the exception, probably, of the path from the fortress to the station, although this is also possible), and Studying the sights on your own using a guidebook will only add zest to your trip. And, by the way, if you suddenly find yourself in a difficult situation, you can not be afraid to ask passers-by for help - for the most part, the residents of Brest are very sympathetic people and will always be happy to help.
True, I still would not advise you to limit your acquaintance with the west of Belarus only to Brest. After all, there are so many interesting things around. In particular, about 60 kilometers from the city there is one of the most visited attractions in the country. This is unique Belovezhskaya Pushcha, which is the remains of an ancient relict forest, the only one preserved in Europe, with such unique inhabitants as bison. In addition, this is where the residence of the Belarusian Father Frost is located, which is open throughout the year and allows numerous guests (I will say right away, both small and adult) to discover the world of magic. So, if possible, be sure to go on an excursion to Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
If you don’t want to join an organized group, you can do it yourself, however, some difficulties with transport may arise; it is better to go there by car. In general, the entrance to the territory of the national park is located near the village of Kamenyuki, Kamenets district, Brest region, the complex is open daily from 9.00 to 18.00, its own excursion bus runs through the park, picking up those who have come on their own who want to get acquainted with Belovezhskaya Pushcha, and the standard “acquaintance” package includes For most, a visit to the Museum of Nature, a walk through enclosures with animals and a trip to the residence of Father Frost. In addition, at the entrance, at the ticket office, you can rent a bicycle and ride along special cycling routes or walk. It's inexpensive and brings a lot of pleasure. However, it is worth remembering that Belovezhskaya Pushcha is located right on the border of Belarus and Poland, so you should not leave the paths and go deeper into the forest - you can easily be detained by border guards. Well, if you enjoy visiting Belovezhskaya Pushcha so much and don’t want to go back right away, you can stay in a hotel complex located on the territory of the national park. And the only thing that can somewhat cool such an impulse is not the low price of accommodation.
Very close to Belovezhskaya Pushcha, in the village of Kamenets, there is another unique attraction for the Brest region and Belarus as a whole. This is Kamenetskaya, or the so-called White Vezha(with white - tower).
It is a lonely standing stone tower, which is the only and oldest preserved defensive fortification of the Middle Ages of the donjon type on the territory of Belarus. And although it may seem costly for some to travel from Brest just for the sake of it, on the way to Belovezhskaya Pushcha or back to Brest, it’s definitely worth a look here. Moreover, one of the roads to Brest passes right by it. Today, within the walls of the tower there is a museum telling about medieval fortifications on the territory of Belarus and about the tower itself in particular. The exposition is quite interesting, in my opinion, the place is unique, the nature around is beautiful. So the hours spent here will definitely not seem wasted.

Excursion to Memorial Complex KHATYN.
The excursion is dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War, three long years of occupation of Belarus.
On the day of the vernal equinox, March 22, 1943, a tragedy occurred that became a symbol of the suffering of the civilian population during the Great Patriotic War - the village of Khatyn, lost in the forests, was burned along with 149 residents. At the site of the tragedy, a majestic architectural and sculptural complex was created, having the planning structure of the village of Khatyn - with streets, wells, houses. In those places where houses once stood, 26 symbolic log-house crowns with scorched chimneys were placed. And above are sad ringing bells. The only village cemetery in the world and the Wall of Memory with the names of concentration camps and the number of victims are also located here. A strong emotional impact is achieved by harmonious unity with nature, sound, expressiveness of architecture and plasticity. 02 - 01/06/2018
We had a very good rest, saw and heard a lot of interesting things, thanks to: 1).friendly Belarusian guides,
2).to our caring bus drivers,
3). and, most importantly, to the guide Zarina, accompanying us, who patiently fulfilled our, sometimes capricious, wishes, and sometimes the demands (with threats of complaints) of individual nervous members of our team group.
We would be glad if MP financially rewarded these conscientious employees, thank you all so much!
In conclusion, we want to give business advice from experienced riders: it would be nice to look in advance (or maybe negotiate?) for some roadside fastfood, for a quick and massive dinner on the way back from Belarus.
With great respect - the Leshukov couple, Igor and Lyubov.
06/16/2016 Svetlana
Good day to all travelers!) I will share my impressions about the bus tour of Belarus from 06/10/16. to 06/14/16. !I’ll be brief, but to the point!) Decent hotels - in Brest \"Belarus\", in Minsk \"Sputnik\"! The food is good, but there was a problem with lunch with the time it was provided! Lunch at 12 or 13 is too early, breakfast has not yet been digested in the stomach, but here he is "fucked"! I don’t find fault with the bus - a bus is like a bus, if someone needs a luxury one, then for a fee!) Here the complaint is only with the driver, who played loud music in the middle of the night! (((I understand that it’s hard to drive, you monotonously look at the road , but there were children in the cabin, and adults also want to sleep! The repertoire of watching films also needs to be selected! TV series and films in the detective genre, where murders and love-carrots are not for children, and if only it all ended at 22:00, and not at 00:00 or 01:00!(((I ASK THE ORGANIZERS TO PAY ATTENTION TO THESE ERRORS!!! Now about the excursion itself! Honestly, I LOVED it!) Santa Claus is just lovely, he’s also a comedian - we went mainly for him, and We weren’t disappointed! You should come see him in the summer, because there aren’t many people, and he devotes a lot of time to the group, and there are more chances to take photos with him!) And Baba Yaga’s sister is also not a mistake!) Belovezhskaya Pushcha is a mini-zoo, nothing more !)But it’s easy to breathe in it!) Mir and Nesvizh castles have been restored and are worth admiring! Brest is small, and for some reason it reminded me of a provincial town! Interest in it is attracted by the lamplighter, who at a certain time on the Arbat lights the lanterns!) Brest Fortress - it’s worth visiting this memorable place!!! We looked through Minsk briefly, practically didn’t see it! Because of the long road from the Brest region! I wanted to pay more attention to the city, take a walk, and buy some Belarusian goods, but that wasn’t the case..... Don’t waste your money !(So, on this excursion, exchange little money, you won’t have time to buy practically anything, only food in stores for dinner, small souvenirs and water!) And yet, all the shops in Belarus close early, like in Soviet times! There are practically no 24-hour shops (We have not found!)! I thank all the organizers of this excursion! Special thanks to our guide in Brest, Alexander - a pleasant young man, good-natured, who loves his profession, his city, who knows about it and his country, probably everything!) Thanks to Svetlana, a guide in the Brest Fortress! Thanks to Larisa -guide in Minsk! Thanks to our guide, from the beginning to the end of the trip, Andrey! ) See you again!) Best regards, Svetlana!)
