Beach holiday in Hanioti, Halkidiki – what do you need to know? Hanioti. Chalkidiki. Vacation review Sights and excursions
Day 1 was a great success. We wandered around the city, sat in a cafe, lay on the sand, swam a couple of times and ran around with a camera, like real paparazzi. At 19:00 their time, dinner began according to plan. The food is amazing, the kitchen masters really know their stuff. I especially liked the rice with octopus, which I ran for extra. After a hearty dinner and a flight, we finally decided to rest a little. After resting, we decided to walk around the city again and realized that in the evening the city came to life, although during the day the streets of the city were practically empty. During the walk, we decided to stop by a cafe and celebrate our arrival by drinking a couple of glasses of wine and eating something delicious. In the end, we ordered a medium pizza. When the waiter brought us this pizza, I was a little confused, because the Greek medium pizza was the size of the Russian huge one. Besides that, it's amazingly delicious. So the day passed and we went to bed, looking tired but very contented.
On the 2nd day we decided that we would not sit too long on the sand, but would take a ride somewhere with the breeze. And having rented an ATV from the COSMOS company (you need our Russian category B driver's license), we hit the road. A map of the peninsula with roads was included in the kit. So my wife and I decided to go around the peninsula, stopping at all sorts of beaches in between. I’ll tell you, the beaches are not sandy, as the tour company told us, but pebbly, but still that didn’t stop us from looking for beautiful places. We found these beautiful places in abundance. There is no point in writing a lot about this, since we took more than 300 photos on this day alone. And we passed the following cities: Pefkohori, Paliouri, Ag. Paraskevi, Nea Skioni drove to the Kalandras Cape lighthouse and along the same path, only turning off at Nea Skioni, we drove back through the mountains to the city of Hanioti, where we respectively lived. A quad bike trip cost us 40 euros, of which 30 was quad rental and 10 was fuel. For those who are going: it is better not to take water with you, but to buy it in stores along the way, since it can boil in a couple of hours. It’s better to buy a detailed map, believe me, it will be useful to you, and finally, apply suntan oil, I can’t say about everything, but my hands are burned.
We spent days 3, 4, 5 on the beach and visiting souvenir shops. I’ll tell you right away that there is no point in buying any alcohol, even in DUTY FREE, firstly, there won’t be enough anyway, and secondly, in Greece ALCOHOL COSTS CHEAPER THAN IN DUTIK. But cigarettes will be a little difficult, so buy from us. I advise you to go to a candy store and buy some sweets. I have never tasted such delicious cakes!!! If you are traveling with children, be prepared to go there every day. The store is located on the main road towards the city of Polychrono. Souvenir shops close around 14:00 and do not open until 16:00.
The prices are as follows: Beer - 1 euro, Whiskey 0.7 Chivas Regal - 25 euros, Champagne Martini ASTI - 10 euros. You can have a full meal for 13-15 euros for two. Froppe coffee and Greek coffee are 1.5 euros each, but they are not for everyone. I recommend the Greek loaf, it costs 1-1.5 euros. Everything needs to be bought at the supermarket. In the central square, the shops are expensive, the same Chivas costs 35-40 euros.
Day 6 we decided to go to Meteora (Excursion) 6-hour bus ride, 80 euro price per person. But it was all worth it. There are no words, only emotions.
Day 7: beach, sand, champagne and water.
On the 8th day, we decided to see what a turtle lake was and, having taken a quad from the same office, we again decided to go in search of beautiful and unusual places. On the way, we decided to stop at a chapel, of which there are very, very many in every city. But the most beautiful thing is that these chapels are located not only in cities, but also in the mountains. Yes, exactly in the mountains. So, after searching for about 4 hours for the possible location of the turtle lake, we never found it and were disappointed to go back, but on the way we saw an information board where 3 different travel routes were drawn. In the end, we went along the furthest one. After another hour of searching, we finally got there. The lake is the size of a pond in the country and at first we didn’t see any turtles, but after feeding one, we suddenly saw several dozen turtles. After rinsing our faces from the spring flowing nearby, we headed home.
On day 9 we decided to rent a car. We ordered a CITROEN C3 with a 1.2 engine, this is very important because their fuel prices are much higher. 1 liter of 95 costs 1.5 euros. So we got into the car and drove to the neighboring peninsula with the beautiful name SITHONIA. After driving around the entire island, visiting all the beautiful bays and taking pictures wherever we wanted, we went home, but on the way we decided to go to the Church of St. Nicholas. When we got there we were upset because it was closed for renovations. For those who will rent a car: 1-ask if the hotel has connections with rental companies. Because this will save you from unnecessary costs. 2-get a car with the smallest engine displacement to save on gasoline. 3-buy a card (what I talked about above), 4th, I don’t know how it is in other peninsulas, but in Kasandra and Sithonia, gas stations are not open around the clock, but from 6:00 to 20:00. The entire trip of 350 kilometers cost me 60 euros. 40 euros for renting a Citroen, 20 euros for a gas station for 350 km.
OK it's all over Now. If you have any questions, be sure to write, I will help you in any way I can.
In the north of Greece there is an amazing place that no one can forget after visiting it at least once.
By car the travel time will take about an hour, by bus - approximately 1.5 hours, since it calls at all other settlements of Kassandra (however, there is one main road on the peninsula that runs through all the main villages, so the time does not increase much).
Local taxi drivers (all of them drive comfortable air-conditioned cars - mainly VW Golf, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Audi A3, BMW 3, etc.) charge approximately 100 euros for a trip. A ticket for a regular bus will cost about 10 times cheaper, renting a car starts from 50 euros per day.

Beaches
In the village, in addition to 4 and 5 star hotels, tourists are offered accommodation in less expensive hotels and apartments that do not have their own infrastructure (restaurants, bars, beaches).
This is the best option for those who find it difficult to immediately pay a tidy sum for a vacation, because the most important thing - the cleanest sea and magnificent nature - are the same for them.
Moreover, in Hanioti the public beaches are distinguished by their well-groomed and unusually cleanliness: it is not without reason that they are regularly marked with the Blue Flag, awarded only to the most ecologically impeccable beaches in the world.
The city beaches of Hanioti are kilometers of pure golden sand surrounded by pine groves, cozy bays and all the opportunities for active recreation. The water in the sea is the purest - as, indeed, everywhere in Halkidiki.
Another feature of Hanioti beaches: There are almost no strong waves here, the sea is very calm, slight waves are observed only in the mornings. Tourists can rent sun loungers with umbrellas, but in this place they are quite expensive: you will have to pay 4 euros for just one sun lounger.
In addition, to find a free one, you need to arrive at the beach early in the morning: by 10, all sunbeds are usually already occupied. Most bathers sit on towels or mats, offered for a small fee (3-7 euros) in every local shop.
You can also buy an umbrella (costs from 5 euros), although there is a small park near the central beach, where vacationers are not forbidden to sit in the shade of huge plane trees or palm trees - right on the grass.
The entrance to the sea is smooth: first, shallow water, where the water warms up very quickly, which is especially important for families with small children. In addition, there is a sandy bottom here, sea urchins and other living creatures are almost never found.
There are fast food kiosks nearby, and local enterprising youth carry water (1.5-2 euros per 1.5 liter bottle) and other drinks, as well as fruits, ice cream, and snacks all over the beach.
For those who love privacy, it is better to go further - to the outskirts of the village. There, in the bays it will be more interesting for those who love diving.
There are offices for renting water equipment on the beaches: boats, catamarans, pedal boats and motorcycles. Here you can also arrange boat trips, water skiing, parasailing and other similar activities.
Approximate cost: banana - 15 euros, water skis - 30 euros, jet ski - 35-40 euros (for 10 minutes).
Attractions
There are many agencies in Hanioti where you can sign up for a wide variety of excursions - both to nearby places and throughout Greece.
Buyers have the opportunity to choose a model not only from those that are available, but also to order the product they like from the catalog, which presents more than 600 options for fur products.
The fur coat will be adjusted to size and a certificate will be issued confirming its quality.
Kitchen
– these are, first of all, seafood, vegetables and, of course, (salted, pickled, stuffed, etc.).
Local restaurants are, as a rule, small establishments whose owners cook and receive guests themselves.
That’s why every tavern has a cozy, homely atmosphere, customers are greeted as the most dear guests and they try to please them in every possible way.
The portions are huge: cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, olives and feta cheese are served in dishes that are more like basins in size.
The score will please you even more: You can have lunch for two (salad, meat or fish dish, wine) for 25 euros.
Even the smallest cafe offers a huge selection of dishes - both ordinary European and traditional Greek cuisine (all kinds of snacks, salads, fish delicacies, grilled vegetables, meat and fish in a variety of versions, fruits and sweets). There are no dissatisfied people after visiting such establishments: everything is very tasty and cheap.
The Hanioti resort is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Halkidiki, where tourists come from all over Europe.
Every year there are more of them: this is facilitated by the convenient location, nature, and excellent climate (the holiday season begins in May and ends in October). The efforts of local authorities also help, as they do everything to please even the most capricious travelers.

The Kassandra Peninsula in Halkidiki has one of the most popular holiday destinations in Northern Greece. Here, in this village, it will be equally good for both young and old tourists. Parents with small children will also be satisfied with their holiday in this cozy and picturesque village.
This is such a wonderful transparent sea in Hanioti . The beaches are no less pleasant.
The main square of the village. In the evening this fountain glows with multi-colored lights.
Haniti has many taverns, apartments and hotels to suit every taste. Here you can meet tourists of all ages and nationalities. A meal in Hanioti for two will cost you about 25 euros. However, the portions are very large. If you order one serving for two, the waiter may bring two table sets. If you haven’t finished eating something, they will offer you to take it with you. This is par for the course. You can ask for “house wine”, it tastes better.
Various festivals are often held in Hanioti. This time the village hosted a world festival of children's dance.
Souvenir shops in Hanioti are open until late, attracting a few tourists. Olive oil, aromatic soaps and cosmetics based on natural oils are in great demand. The price of one bar of soap is about 2.5-3.0 euros. Soap is also sold by weight. very fragrant. A 1 liter bottle of Metaxa costs 20 euros in the store. In souvenir shops in Halkidiki, most sellers speak Russian. By the way, we did not encounter mosquitoes in Halkidiki, unlike Crete, for example.
In numerous taverns right on the street, in the fresh air, you can drink a cup of Greek coffee or get acquainted with the national cuisine: moussaka, souvlaki, lamb ribs and delicious freshly fried fish. Almost all taverns have Russian-speaking waiters. They will tell you everything about what dish is what.
In spring, citrus fruits ripen everywhere in Greece, from which fresh orange juice will be prepared for you in any tavern. In Hanioti, oranges hang on your heads right on the street. Greeks drive around the streets in trucks and sell fresh fruit at a price much lower than in stores. A basket of 0.5 kg of cherries costs only 1.5-2.0 euros. The same goes for strawberries. But this is in the spring. They also have very tasty cherries.

A small church next to the hotel. The hotel staff comes into it to pray. In our hotel the staff was Russian-speaking. The cleaners are mostly from Moldova. Greek hotels are cleaned every day and linen is changed every three days. The staff is polite and does not require tips, as in Turkey, for example. But if you want to please someone, you can leave a couple of euros.

It often rains in Halkidiki in spring. But it's still warm outside. When it rains, it’s nice to sit in a cafe with a glass of Metaxa or coffee. Greeks don't like being asked for Turkish coffee. I should say Greek coffee. Come into the tavern, say hello “yasas” and you will always smile and be helpful in any situation. Greeks are very friendly people, without ambitions.
