At the moment, passengers can view the Russian Railways train schedule on the company's official website.
How can I find out the train schedule along a route?
The interactive schedule of long-distance trains of Russian Railways is located in the section for passengers of the company’s official website under the link “Schedule, ticket prices”, as well as from the main page of the website pass.rzd.ru.
Website
Once on the page, the user immediately sees in front of him a large rectangular blue block, which contains fields for entering the following data:
- from where and where the passenger plans to go;
- travel date;
- travel time;
- date and time of the return trip (if you need to view the schedule for a round trip).
Train search form
In addition, passengers can choose the schedule of only trains, only electric trains, or both, by checking the appropriate boxes in the lower left corner of the block.
Train scheduleFor convenience, the most popular stations (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tver, Kyiv, etc.) are included directly in the form. The user does not need to enter the name of such a city; simply click on the corresponding link under the “Where” or “From” field.
If you are about to depart or arrive in a big city with several train stations (for example, Moscow, St. Petersburg), you can enter in the form not the geographical name, but the name of the station. Just start writing the first letters, and then select the station you need from the drop-down list. In this case, the train schedule will show the movement with a specific starting and ending point.
Moscow train stationsIf you only need to find out the Russian Railways train schedule for a specific day, it is better to uncheck the box next to the “Only with tickets” filter. Then the system will show all trains that move along the route on that day (for 24 hours or the selected time period). If you leave it, the schedule will include only those Russian Railways routes for which there are still places left. On the other hand, then it is more convenient to immediately select and buy tickets.
What can you learn from the train schedule?
Schedule type
The train schedule is a table with comprehensive information on routes. Each train has its own block, where standard data is indicated:
- time, date and departure station;
- time, date and station of arrival;
- travel time;
- route name.
There are filters at the top and to the left of the table. The top line indicates how many routes were found between cities. Next to it is a sorting filter. Using the drop-down list, you can sort trains by departure, by arrival, by travel time, and minimum price. Next to the filter there is an icon that resembles a diagram with an arrow. It is used for ascending or descending order.
Using the filters on the left, the user can:
- indicate a specific departure time (for example, from 12 to 16) by entering numbers in the special boxes or using the “slider” below;
- indicate the time of day that is suitable for departure;
- select the services provided on the train (the most common is Wi-fi).
If the route was chosen randomly and is not suitable, you can use the “Change request” button and enter the data again.
Additional notes, such as the presence of Wi-Fi in the compartment, as well as a link to the route in the Russian Railways train schedule, help to get the most complete idea of how the trip will go: how comfortable the journey is, how fast the train moves, where it stops and how much it costs.
What to do if there are no trains on the route?
If a passenger leaves a small railway junction or, conversely, goes to it, the likelihood increases that there are simply no direct trains along this route. The developers have provided for this opportunity, inviting visitors to use the “Search for transfers” button.
Button Search for transfers
After clicking on it, the passenger will see a schedule in the form of blocks united by a bold frame. Each block contains a ready-made route option with two or more trains. They are selected in such a way that passengers have time to make a transfer at the intermediate station(s) and reach their destination as quickly as possible.
As in ordinary cases, the Russian Railways train schedule contains data on the departure and arrival of each train in the block (time, date, station name), travel time, and general information about the route. At the top of the block, the entire route is visualized in a dark rectangle: departure point, transfer stations, travel time between transfers and total.
