Holidays in Morocco. Morocco - where is the best place to relax? Morocco Mediterranean
Many people simply cannot imagine traveling around Morocco without relaxing at sea. And rightly so, because the Moroccan coast of the Atlantic Ocean is ideal for a beach holiday. You can swim here from May to October, and you will find excellent sunbathing and swimming opportunities near almost any coastal town.
Agadir is traditionally considered the best place for a seaside holiday in Morocco. The weather here is favorable all year round, in winter the air temperature does not drop below + 22°C, and in summer the Canary Current prevents the heat from taking over the city and its surroundings. In Agadir you will find 13 km of excellent beach, suitable for both adults and children. There are excellent opportunities for surfing and other types of water activities. There are many equipment rental points here, and the price does not exceed 100 MAD per hour.
And, tired of lounging on the beach, you can go on one of the fairly inexpensive (no more than 10 USD) city excursions or have fun in a nightclub. Agadir also has excellent seafood cuisine, with an abundance of seafood. The atmosphere in the city is quite European, surprising after the conservative Marrakech and Fez.
Essaouira
If you're looking for a more traditional destination than Agadir while touring Morocco with a beach holiday planned, look no further than Essaouira. The ancient fort city on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean is much more consistent with ideas about an Arab city. You can stay here not only in a modern hotel, but also in a classic Moroccan riad in the medina. There is a luxurious beach located near the city walls. But the regular strong winds and high waves make it not very popular among swimmers.
But lovers of surfing and other water sports will feel at home here. It is worth remembering that it is not recommended to go outside the beach in swimsuits or shorts. Morocco is a Muslim country, and it is necessary to respect its foundations, despite all the loyalty to foreigners.
Mazagan Beach Resort near El Jadida
There is a special corner in Morocco that can be safely called a real kingdom of beach holidays. The huge Mazagan Beach Resort is located 20 km from El Jadida. This hotel has every kind of entertainment you can think of. If you are tired of walking through ancient medinas and want to devote a few days of travel to a comfortable and relaxing holiday on the beaches of Morocco, you should come here. True, the prices in this unique place are very high.
Oualidia Lagoon
On the Moroccan coast there is another unique resort place - Oualidia Lagoon. Travelers with children especially love the lagoon. You won't find a better place for a relaxing family holiday on the beaches of Morocco. The waters of the lagoon warm up very quickly, which is especially comfortable given the general coolness of the Atlantic Ocean. But you should avoid traveling here in August. The beaches will be crowded and you will hardly be able to fully relax.
Casablanca
In business and noisy Casablanca, there are good beaches right in the city. Access to these city beaches is free, and the service is excellent. Surfers will also find fun on this stretch of Morocco's Atlantic coast.
Rabat
The current capital of Morocco, the city of Rabat, is also located on the ocean coast. There are beaches near the capital, among them Shkirat beach is especially famous. So you can soak up the sand and plunge into the ocean waves right next to the main city of Morocco.
Tangier
If you are striving not for the coolness of the ocean waves, but for the gentle warmth of the Mediterranean Sea, then your path lies in Tangier. The beach of this city goes directly into the waters of this sea. The strip of soft sand will appeal to all lovers of sunbathing in the fresh air. And for a holiday with kids this is an almost ideal place.
Dakhla
Fans of windsurfing and kiting can also go to Dakhla, in Western Sahara. This is one of the best places in Morocco for active water sports, and it will not leave anyone indifferent. And for magnificent ocean scenery, devoid of human influence, you should head to Legzira Beach. There are no hotels or other infrastructure there, but you will remember the spectacle for a long time.

The best resorts in Morocco on the Mediterranean Sea are Tangier, Saidia. Photos, reviews about vacation
The shores of Morocco are washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The coastline of the sea is much smaller than the one that washes the ocean. To be precise, only 450 kilometers of coastline is the Mediterranean Sea. Such a short length does not frighten tourists, and they choose the resorts of Morocco on the Mediterranean Sea to spend their holidays here. Almost 80% of all tourists in Morocco vacation on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, and there are explanations for this. Firstly, the climate here is milder. At any time, the berries here are better than in other parts of the country. Secondly, the seaside resorts are closer to Europe, and the hotels there are better. And thirdly, the sea is warmer than the ocean, and there are no waves on it. While the Atlantic Ocean is constantly seething and the waves are often over a meter in height. We have collected information about the best resorts that are worth visiting. See prices, photos and videos, find out reviews from tourists and relax properly.
Since the Mediterranean coast in Morocco is not large, there are not many resorts on it. And these are not small towns, but large cities, with hundreds of thousands of residents, developed infrastructure, excellent roads and shopping areas.
One of these resorts is Tangier, which is also the country’s largest port.
The beach season here begins in May. At the end of spring, sunny weather sets in here, the air temperature during the day reaches +24 degrees. The nights are cool and the sea is not warm, but there are many tourists on the beach, and they are all waiting for the sea to become warmer. And it will happen in just a few weeks. Already in June, daytime temperatures are above +30, and the sea warms up to +20 degrees. There are more than 13.5 hours of daylight, and there is almost no rain.
July and August are really hot. These two months are the most visited at the resort. The temperature is breaking records, rising to +35, the sea is already warm +23, and there is no rain at all. Just like there are no clouds in the sky, especially in July, when the sky is clear 28 days a month.
The beach season will last in both September and October. Since the temperature will not drop below +25 degrees, and the sea will not cool below +23. True, the daylight hours will decrease, and it will start to rain from time to time.
As already said, this is not only a resort, but also a port. Thousands of tankers, steamships and boats sail here every day. They bring food, clothing, goods and tourists. The city has beautiful hotels that are located on the seashore. and in the city center. If you plan to visit the beach often. Then you'd better rent a hotel room on the beach. If you came to the city not for the beach and sea, then it is cheaper to find a hotel in the city center.
The city has attractions, like throughout the country. there are also palaces here. Mosques, but still Tangier is a city that is more like a European one, where everything is tied to the economy and life goes on in a hurry. The city of Tangier is located at the junction of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. By visiting this place, you will be able to see with your own eyes how the waters meet and you will remember this spectacle forever.
Morocco's second resort on the Mediterranean Sea is Saidia. It is much more comfortable than the port city. There is no such noise, there is no rush and the city is completely made for tourists. Even the locals relax here and enjoy life.
The resort's beach is amazing, its length is more than 14 kilometers! And this is just pure sand that crunches under your feet. Hotels in Saidia operate on an all-inclusive system, so there are many Russian tourists who really like this system. To attract tourists in early spring and late autumn, hotels have heated swimming pools. They are filled with sea water and most tourists prefer to relax by the pools.
The resort also has its own famous places and attractions. For example, the Muluya Nature Reserve, where more than hundreds of species of different birds gather, nest and live. There is no place like this anywhere else in the world!
If you are not afraid of heights and love mountains, then visit the Benny Snassen Massif and climb to a height of 1535 meters above sea level. from such a height you will see beauties that will make you go crazy in the good sense of the word.
And the Camel Grotto will appeal to everyone who loves caves. This place is special and a little scary. But believe me, everything is beautiful here and you can enjoy every minute in the grotto.
There are other resorts in Morocco on the Mediterranean Sea. But they are not so popular, and mostly locals relax there. So if you come here, then choose between the large and noisy Tangier or between the cozy and beautiful Saidiim. The choice is yours.
Morocco is a fabulous mixture of East and West, the meeting place of Europe and Africa. Just a few hours flight from the main European cities and six hours from Moscow, and... a completely different world, striking with the amazing colors, smells and sounds of Islamic Africa. Bustling bazaars, intoxicating with the aromas of spices, stunning mosques, snow-white seaside towns and medieval quarters of the Medina. The Kingdom of Morocco offers a variety of mosaics. The endless coastline of the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea with a ribbon of magnificent beaches, the towering snow-capped ridges of the High Atlas, green oases and endless sand dunes of the Sahara are reminiscent of the mysterious land of the Arabian Nights. No one will ever get bored in such a beautiful place in North Africa.
The cities are criss-crossed with labyrinths of narrow streets, dotted with squares, markets and centuries-old buildings, with life still rooted in medieval times. High in the Atlas Mountains, the indigenous Berber population lives on rocky slopes in adobe houses and maintains a simple, traditional way of life, unchanged from the changes and comforts of the 21st century. And on the Atlantic coast, modern resort towns delight tourists with luxurious hotels, thalassotherapy centers and a killer array of nightlife entertainment. This is truly a land of contrasts!
Such different cities in Morocco.
Each of Morocco's major cities has its own attraction. On the northern coast, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, lies a city that has always been the first port for sailors and travelers. Since the 5th century BC, Tangier has been inhabited by various civilizations. And while its glory days may be behind it, it remains a cultural and cosmopolitan treasure trove that attracts bohemians with its vibrant nightlife.
Further along the North Atlantic coast, Casablanca is perhaps less exotic than other Moroccan cities. It is the main port, commercial and industrial center of the country, and a center of modern art and fashion. Yes, and there is something to see here. Situated on a small promontory on the Atlantic Ocean, the Hassan II Mosque has the tallest minaret and is the third largest mosque in the world. Bordering Casablanca's public park, the Sacré-Coeur Cathedral, no longer functioning as a religious institution, is a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture with Moorish Revival elements.
Not far from Casablanca is Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Many museums, monuments of medieval architecture, the Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Muhammad V, and the Hassan Minaret perfectly adorn this calm city.

Fes is a profitable shopping destination.
The former capital of Morocco, imperial Fez is one of the oldest and largest medieval cities in the world. The labyrinth of streets of two ancient Medinas is full of secrets and intrigue, it is a pleasure to wander through them. See the beautiful city gates, the ancient Al-Qaraouine University, the Bou-Inania madrasah and, of course, the famous leather dyehouses. By the way, it is in Fez that you can buy leather goods very inexpensively. A high-quality handbag or traditional babushi (slippers) will cost mere pennies.
The city of Meknes is called the “Versailles of Morocco” for its abundance of parks, mosques and palaces. Here you can take a break from the touristy neighboring Fez. The stunning Spanish-Moorish center of Meknes is surrounded by high city walls with impressive gates. The combination of European and Islamic cultures is fascinating. Near Meknes are the ruins of Volubilis, a city of the Roman Empire.
Marrakesh. Touch history.
In the southwest of the country, in the foothills of the majestic Atlas Mountains, lies Marrakesh, known as the “Red City”. It represents the perfect combination of old and new Morocco. After visiting Marrakech, what remains in my memory is the color of terracotta and ocher, pinkish-carmine shades of slightly dilapidated walls of clay houses. But red is not the only color in the kaleidoscope of Marrakech. Bright spices in pyramids of incredible height, freshly dyed carpets hung here and there, silver lamps flashing in the rays of the setting sun with the promise of a genie inside - all this is Jema el Fna, the largest square in Africa. At night it comes alive and becomes a huge open-air restaurant serving delicious traditional Moroccan cuisine. And in Marrakech you can wander through the lively bazaars to the point of dizziness, admire the old gates and fortress walls, see the Saadian Tombs, the remains of the El Badi Palace and see the Koutoubia Mosque with its 12th-century minaret. And to take a break from the abundance of historical attractions, it is worth visiting the fantastically beautiful Majorelle Gardens and Menard Gardens.
The ancient fortified city of Ait Benhaddou is another “must see” place. Although rainfall and time have damaged the adobe buildings, this almost abandoned village (ksar) makes a stunning impression. Several films were filmed in the scenery of Ait Benhaddou, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
Ifrane is called “Little Switzerland” in the Middle Atlas. It was here that the French colonialists came during the summer months to escape the heat. Now it is a fairly famous African ski resort. Ifrane also goes by the name “garden city” - it was designed in Western European style, and many trees and flowers were specially brought to Africa to give the colonists the feeling of being in their own country. Here you can also see the Royal Palace, built for Sultan Mohammed.
The ski resorts of the Atlas Mountains are within 60 km of Marrakech and offer snow from November to April. Charming ancient villages located in the foothills and seeming to cling to mountain ledges, picturesque peaks and deep gorges - hiking in these places is incomparable. But still, beach holidays are more popular in Morocco.
Beach resorts in Morocco
And the best beaches in the country are in Agadir. A golden ribbon of sand stretches for more than nine kilometers along a wide bay on the Atlantic coast. Soft sand and clear water, cleanliness and order - the beaches of Agadir deservedly received the Blue Flag. The city itself was destroyed by an earthquake back in the sixties and the authorities decided not to restore it, but to rebuild it. This means that modern Agadir is filled with wide palm alleys and high-rise hotels surrounded by flowering parks.
Agadir is a very popular holiday destination for Europeans, and our compatriots also appreciate this Moroccan resort. To the north of the city, endless, almost deserted beaches stretch along the coast. Enjoy swimming in warm waters and sunbathing during the day, and in the evening sit in a restaurant or taste all the delights of nightlife - this is a holiday in Agadir. If you wish, you can go on an excursion and see the sights of the nearby ancient fortified city of Taroudant.
Another popular beach resort is Essaouira. Unlike Agadir, Essaouira is located on a cape, so beach holidays here are not as comfortable due to the constant ocean breeze and high waves. But this resort is chosen by surfers - it’s inexpensive, warm and there is always a good wave.
The city is ancient, its old part (Medina) is a UNESCO monument. Essaouira is perfect for combining a beach holiday with local sightseeing, and the blue and white houses give the city a special “seaside” flavor.
Morocco is not only cities
Away from the cities, Morocco offers the chance to explore Roman ruins, admire spectacular landscapes or embark on an adventurous journey through the desert. The High Atlas Mountains offer interesting routes visiting Berber settlements. A holiday to Morocco is filled with ancient wonders - an escape into a world where cultures collide and time stands still.
Here you can relax in the relaxed atmosphere of the Atlantic resorts of Essaouira and Agadir, wander through the old streets of Marrakesh and Fez and enjoy amazing monuments and colorful bazaars, climb high into the mountains or see wonderful southern oases. Moroccans greet tourists with their warmth, humor, openness and sociability. Holidays in this slightly eccentric and, at the same time, unimaginably beautiful country are fantastic. Come to Morocco!
The resorts of Morocco, located on the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts of North Africa, thanks to the climate and unique combination of natural conditions, allow you to organize a comfortable beach holiday almost all year round.
The Kingdom of Morocco has a special status among African countries, as it is considered one of the most “Europeanized” states on the continent. This is due to its location near Spain (only 15 km of the Strait of Gibraltar separates the Moroccan coast from the Iberian Peninsula) and the peculiarities of historical development.
Located at the crossroads of busy trade routes from Europe to Africa, Morocco was one of the most prosperous states on the continent for a long period of history (from the 9th to the 15th centuries). In later times, the territory of the kingdom partially or completely came under the influence of Spain and France.
The rich architectural and cultural heritage of various eras is carefully preserved by the modern residents of the country. French and Spanish influence has also been preserved in the linguistic traditions of the local population (one of the languages of business communication is French) and in geographical names (Casablanca - “white building” in Spanish - the name of a famous Moroccan resort).
Having gained full independence in 1975, the state began to develop rapidly, especially in the tourism sector. After all, Morocco has all the necessary conditions for organizing a varied holiday: extensive beaches with “velvety” sand, cultural and natural attractions, developed infrastructure and famous local culinary traditions.
For travelers from Russia, a visa is required only if they stay in the country for more than 90 days.
Climate
Resorts in Morocco, where beach holidays are popular among tourists from all over the world, are located in two large regions: on the Atlantic coast (from Tarfaya to Tangier) and on the Mediterranean Sea (from Ceuta to Nador).
The climate on the Mediterranean coast is predominantly subtropical, maritime (with mild, warm winters and hot summers). The average temperature in the summer months is +24-28 °C. In winter the temperature averages 10 -12 °C. In summer, the heat can reach up to + 30-32 °C during the daytime. Precipitation in the region occurs in winter (1000 mm per year).
The high season in the Mediterranean is from April to October. Another peak of tourist visits is the Christmas holidays (second half of December). The water in the Mediterranean Sea warms up to 21°C in June and stays between 23-24°C until September (this time is called the velvet season).
The Atlantic coast of Morocco has a cooler climate, close to temperate. In this resort region, the beach season begins in the second half of May and ends in September. The average air temperature is +28-+30 °C. Ocean water temperatures warm up from 18°C at the beginning of the season to +21°C. By the end of the season, the water cools to + 16°C.
Features of nature
The uniqueness of Morocco's nature lies in its diversity. It is rare to find landscapes ranging from desert to mountainous with evergreen forests on the territory of one state. Currently, the number of forest areas is declining due to human activity, but measures are being taken to protect nature and new national parks are being created (including Sous Masa near the coast).
One of the natural attractions is the Atlas Mountains, which include the High Atlas, Reef, Middle Atlas, and Anti-Atlas massifs. In the High Atlas, the peaks are covered with snow all year round, and the Middle Atlas is called the Moroccan Switzerland for its “alpine” landscapes with meadows, lakes and waterfalls and ski resorts.
Trekking and visiting caves are organized in the mountains(eg Feruato, Vin-Timduin). The most famous Caves of Hercules are located not in Atlas, but not far from the ocean coast - in Tangier.
The Sahara Desert occupies a small part in the south of the country, but the sands are constantly advancing and the area occupied by dunes is increasing. Trips to the desert are organized for tourists in the winter and spring months, when there is no sweltering heat.
Between the Mediterranean coast and the mountains lie valleys in which the famous Moroccan citrus fruits, olives and argan trees, whose oil is popular in cosmetology, are grown.
The fauna of this North African country is not very diverse, but such species of large predators as cheetah, leopard, caracal, and hyena are still preserved. In desert areas and savannah you can see sand and common foxes, fennec foxes, jackals, sand cats and servals.
Of the ungulates, only 2 species of antelope, gazelle and deer, have survived in forest areas.
There are more than a dozen zoos in Morocco, among which the park in Rabat (the capital of the kingdom) stands out for its size and number of animals. There are interesting collections of birds and animals in the zoos of Agdir (Valley of Birds) and Casablanca (Ain Sebaa).
National dishes
The resorts of Morocco, where beach holidays are successfully combined with excursions to historical sights, are also famous for their national cuisine restaurants.
List of national dishes:
The cuisine of Morocco is quite diverse and a festive lunch can include up to 20 dishes. In traditional restaurants, it is customary to eat while sitting at a low table on cushions, and instead of cutlery, use a small piece of flatbread. The resort area also has many international cuisine establishments, with Italian, Spanish and French restaurants predominating.
Population
The population of the Kingdom of Morocco is more than 36 million people. Most Moroccans live on the west coast. In terms of ethnic composition, more than half of the country's inhabitants are Arabs, and Berber peoples (4 large communities) make up about 49% of the population. The French and Spanish also live mainly on the Mediterranean coast.
The main languages of communication are Arabic (the local dialect) and Berber; French is often used in business. In resort areas, English is used mainly by people involved in trade and in the service sector.
The attitude of the local population towards travelers is friendly - the guest is usually treated to the best dishes and treated with respect. However, local Muslim customs do not conform to appearing in public places in revealing outfits or drinking alcoholic beverages (except in hotel areas).
It is considered impolite to leave the interlocutor’s question unanswered (even if, from the traveler’s point of view, the information is perceived as personal).
In order not to cause a negative reaction from the local population, when leaving the hotel premises, you should avoid wearing openly beach attire (especially for women) and drinking alcohol.
Currency
The national currency of Morocco is the dirham (MAD), the exchange rate of which is floating in relation to world currencies. On average, it is equal to $0.1 – $0.08 per 1 MAD. It is more profitable to bring US dollars to Morocco, since they can most easily be exchanged for local currency (the rate is the same at airports and hotels, as it is set by the state bank). It will be almost impossible to exchange rubles for dirhams.
It is prohibited to pay in any other currency other than MAD in the kingdom, but payment with credit cards is possible (except for small shops and market stalls). Exporting national currency abroad is prohibited, so you must obtain a certificate at the exchange office so that when you leave you can exchange dirhams back into dollars or euros.

The resorts of Morocco (beach holidays are best organized in late summer - early autumn) are known for their long coastal strip with white or golden fine sand and convenient access to the water. Holidays in Morocco, features, where to go:
Morocco attracts and pleases, because this country seems to have been created specifically for tourists, who increasingly come here to relax. Being part of Africa, each resort in Morocco fascinates with its Arabic flavor, which maximally imbues the local atmosphere. This is evidenced by buildings, customs and the inhabitants themselves, who lead a long-established way of life.
This feature is not the main one, although it is very significant, it’s just that the people here have long realized the value of their natural conditions for health and entertainment, so here all travelers are offered not only to enjoy wonderful beaches, but also to spend time actively and profitably.
Morocco's resorts on the Mediterranean Sea or Atlantic Ocean are replete with typical services offered:
- thalassotherapy and spa treatments;
- water activities, including surfing and diving;
- national dishes and teas;
- unique souvenirs and goods, silks and carpets are especially popular;
- city and desert excursions.
The location of the country did it a great favor, because its proximity to Europe and the availability of access to both the sea and the ocean made the resorts of Morocco desirable and accessible to many travelers. The coastal zones have a subtropical climate, allowing you to relax here all year round.
Morocco stands out among many because of its ancient history and modern achievements, both of these aspects combine to create unusual pictures that delight tourists. The richness of culture and historical past is reflected in the many attractions and monuments that captivate with their significance and appearance. And the constant development of the country makes staying here comfortable and safe for any foreigner. Thus, Arabic flavor and European service have come together on Moroccan soil, which is why Moroccan resorts are so in demand.
There are also special places where you can observe with your own eyes the typical life of the indigenous people - the Berbers preserve their culture almost in its original form, so a trip to their settlements always becomes a unique event, giving the key to understanding Africa and its people.
Resorts of Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean
Among the popular resorts in Morocco, they are divided by territorial affiliation:
- some of them are located in the west - on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean;
- others - in the north, washed by the Mediterranean Sea.
The famous resorts of Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean include the following:
- Agadir;
- Marrakesh;
- Casablanca;
- Essaouira.
"White City" Adagir got its name for its snow-white beaches, which have already gained fame as the best in the country. This is where a beach holiday will be ideal, and although it is very comfortable to relax in the sun on the huge coastline, tourists are happy to try the available water activities; this area is especially attractive to surfers.
This resort is very popular among tourists, because the service here is at the highest level, and every traveler will find a hotel of a suitable level. In Adagir, active year-round life, fun, entertainment and shopping are available to foreigners almost around the clock.
Ancient and colorful has a completely different charm; relaxation in such a place is more measured, but the surrounding landscapes and attractions saturate it with impressions and emotions. This resort is not a beach resort, as it is located in the depths of Morocco, but this does not detract from its importance on the tourist map, because this is where you can get to know the true soul of the country. To do this, study:
- traditional cuisine;
- local customs intertwined with Arab ones;
- oriental bazaars filled with specific goods and exquisite souvenirs;
- many exciting performances and shows.
The same excursions are Fes, this is truly the cultural center of Morocco. People come here for numerous excursions to ancient sights that reflect local culture and history.
This city is located among the mountainous terrain, so it has unusual landscapes that not all resorts in Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean can boast of. The usual method of transportation is also surprising - donkeys are most suitable for such conditions. This is exactly how, calmly and measuredly, you need to explore Fez, full of diversity. Here the Arabian atmosphere is as rich as possible, because there are a lot of typical aromas, colors and sounds, as well as many craftsmen and their amazing works.
Casablanca is very modern among this diverse center of Morocco, with many urban buildings and cultural attractions. And yet the same oriental charm is present here, especially in the old part of the city. Excursion programs most often attract foreigners here who want to see, for example, the unique Hassan II Mosque.
Beach holidays are not so common here, because the local beaches are artificial, which, however, does not affect their quality and cleanliness. Entertainment facilities located near the coast are the basis of tourist fun.
