Adygea: the village of Guzeripl
Guzeripl is a small village in the Republic of Adygea. It is part of Russia and is surrounded on all sides by the Krasnodar Territory. The climate here is temperate, pleasant, and nature is rich in forests and rivers (Adygea is crossed by about 5 thousand rivers).
Guzeripl is located in the Maykop region of the republic, on the Belaya River. Not far from the village, Guzeripl is surrounded by mountain ranges, so a favorable climate has formed here.
The village is small, with just over a hundred people living in it. But clean mountain air, coniferous forests and turbulent rivers attract many tourists here who appreciate the natural attractions of Guzeripl. People come to these places to improve their health and be alone with themselves and nature, take a break from noisy cities and endless bustle.
Sights of Guzeripl: Partizanskaya glade
Guzeripl appeared in 1924 as a village for lumberjacks. Two camps housed prisoners who were engaged in logging. During the war, the logging camps were closed, and after the end of hostilities, the All-Union tourist route was opened from Guzeripl. It ended in the Fisht shelter.
The Soviet route is still popular today. The path to leads through the Partizanskaya glade, which is located near the Stone Sea ridge. here is more than 1500 meters.
The partisan headquarters in the clearing was still during the Civil War. In the Great Patriotic War, the Adyghe partisans continued this tradition. Near the described place is a ski resort. For hikers, Partizanskaya Glade is an intermediate point for climbing Fisht, Pshekho-Su and the Guzeriplsky Pass.
Other attractions
On both sides of the Belaya River there are dolmens - places of worship - witnesses to the fact that life existed in these parts thousands of years ago. Behind the cemetery of the village is an old railway, which has historical value. It was built to deliver timber to the river, its length was about three kilometers, then the blanks were rafted on the water.
In the Museum of the Caucasian Reserve, you can learn more about the flora and fauna of the protected zone. The museum is over 60 years old. Here are stuffed animals, photographs, as well as expositions telling the history of the foundation of the reserve.
The rest of the sights of Guzeripl have a natural character. There are several points in the valley with excellent views. From the Small observation deck on the Black Rock, you can admire the eastern part of Guzeripl. From here, along the trail you can get to the Big observation deck, where you can clearly see the southern and central parts of the village. No less picturesque view of the natural landscapes opens from the slope of Mount Filimonov.
In early May, Guzeripl organizes the Interalli-White competition for outdoor enthusiasts. Here they carry out rafting, kayaking and canoeing, descents along the river on catamarans. At the same time, the festival of author's song "Pervotsvet" takes place on Partizanskaya Polyana.
A small mountain village is located in the south of the Republic of Adygea in the foothills of the Caucasus Range, on the territory of the Caucasian Reserve. Guzeripl is known for its pristine nature and the famous dolmen.
The village of Guzeripl, located in a remote corner of Adygea, is a historical and natural value. Guzeripl itself was founded at the beginning of the 20th century as a cordon of the Caucasian Reserve. A little later, he became part of the Khamyshinsky rural district as a logging village.
The Adyghe pronunciation of the village is “gozaripl”, which means “observant” in translation. In essence, this is true, since the village is the most remote settlement at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains, and is located like a guard on the way to the beautiful and densely populated valley of the Belaya River. The village was built at an altitude of six hundred and seventy meters above sea level, among high mountain peaks covered with fir forests. Healing mountain air, crystal clear water of the Belaya River, delightful Caucasian nature have made the former logging village a desirable vacation spot and tourist center. Guzeripl is surrounded by high mountain ranges on all sides, which creates a special microclimate in this valley.
Behind the bridge located in the village across the Belaya, the lands of the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve begin, there is a cordon through which you can get to its territory. In the reserve, you can visit a museum dedicated to the nature of the Caucasus and the history of the restoration of the population of the Caucasian bison, go on an excursion to the Molchele River, see the largest dolmen preserved on the lands of Adygea and a monument on the mass grave of the soldiers-defenders of Guzeripl. The sights of Guzeripl rightfully include the old railway, which is the starting point of the most famous tourist route. Every year, international rafting competitions - Interrally Belaya start from the village.
The population of the village is very small, according to the official census it is about 100 people. This settlement comes to life with the arrival of tourists, who are very numerous here. Currently, Guzeripl is a rapidly developing tourist center. The village has all the prerequisites to become an excellent tourist center of the Caucasus in the near future. In Guzerple, the construction of tourist complexes is constantly underway. In the village there are various hotels, well-equipped for every taste. Fans of "wild recreation" can always set up camp in any place they like. Especially popular with tourists is the area in front of the village, where in the summer there are permanent camps. A good paved road from Maykop has been laid to the village.
The village of Guzeripl borders on the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, which can be reached through a bridge in the center of the village. Its main attraction is the Museum of Nature of the Caucasian Reserve. Walking along the road from the bridge across the river to the museum, you can admire the bewitching artificial waterfall of the Molchepa River, which falls from the dam of a small hydroelectric power station. The area adjacent to the territory of the museum is protected. Not far from the building itself there is a dolmen, in Adygea it is impossible to find an analogue to it in terms of size and safety.
During the Patriotic War in 1942, fierce battles took place on this territory, as evidenced by the mass grave of the soldiers who defended the Caucasus, the shooters of the 379th mountain rifle regiment. The museum itself was founded about 60 years ago and occupies several halls. They tell about the history of the creation of the reserve, the flora and fauna are widely represented. The museum exhibits voluminous exhibits - stuffed animals. They are collected in biological groups, presented in their natural habitat. High-quality photographs, panoramas, original expositions help visitors to get acquainted with the amazing nature of this region. The museum welcomes its visitors cordially without breaks and weekends.
The path to the museum lies through the post of the biosphere reserve, located on the left bank of the Belaya. Entrance to the Museum of Nature is paid. From the bridge over the river to the museum, you need to walk about three hundred meters along the road.
On the right and left banks of the Belaya River, on the territory of the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve and in the glade of tourist rallies, there are the remains of the dolmen of the village of Guzeripl. This archeological monument of the 1st-2nd millennium BC is one of the largest composite, well-preserved dolmens in southern Russia. In Adygea, it is impossible to find an analogue to it in terms of size and safety. It is huge, massive and mysterious.
Striking with an engineering solution, laboriousness, sophisticated at first glance, rough architecture, the megalith is still a mystery today. Many scientists believe, and this is the main version, that dolmens are funerary megalithic structures of the Early and Middle Bronze Age. Another theory is popular, according to which elderly people went to die in them. There, in complete darkness and silence, they prayed and waited for death. Another group of scientists believe that dolmens, along with the pyramids, are part of the overall planetary structure. The points where they stand are chosen deliberately. Dolmens are unique conductors that connect the earth with the information space matrix that ensures the development of all forms of life on Earth.
The sights of Guzeripl rightfully include the old railway. In pre-war times, the settlement itself had two camps with convicts: general and strict regime there were repressed Don Cossacks, who for a time were engaged in harvesting and shipping timber. The narrow-line railway, 3 kilometers long, was located behind the village cemetery. Wood was transported on a cart with horses and on a motor-cart. After that, the wood was rafted down the Belaya mountain river. The war began, the zones were closed. The cordon of the Caucasian reserve "Suvorovsky" is located in residential buildings.
After the end of the war, it was from the end of the old railway that the trail of the famous tourist route of All-Union significance began. It ran to the Partizanskaya Valley, to the Fisht shelter and had access to the Black Sea coast. Now it is the most famous and popular tourist route. Partizanskaya Polyana can be reached both by car and on foot.
Rising up, you can admire the amazing nature, enjoy the clean mountain air. The combination of picturesque nature with turbulent rivers, the historical past, and the modernity of tourists makes the village attractive for visiting not only professional tourists, but also family vacation lovers. And the old railway is the starting point of the most famous route.
In order to view the valley of the Belaya River, there are several panoramic points, which are a special attraction of the village of Guzeripl.
A small observation platform is located in the center of the village, on the Black Rock. The rock breaks off to the south with black coal shales and has a fairly wide flat area with tall slender pines. From here you can see the eastern part of the village. Just above this place there is a large observation deck. From the very peak of the rocky ridge, a magnificent view of the southern and central part of the village opens up. A safe path leads to this point from the Small Platform to the rocks, shaped like a rooster's comb.
The third observation platform is located on the southern slope of Mount Kazachya. There is a wide path and goes to the rock formations. From the rocky shelves you can see the Abago, Atamazhi and Guzeripl village views. From this place you can admire not only the beauty of the village, but also the magnificence of the mountains, breathe the cleanest air, recharge with cosmic energy. On the territory of the reserve, on the slope of Mount Filimonov, there is another view point from which you can observe the beauty of nature untouched by man. Compared to other viewpoints, it is rarely visited by tourists.
Guzeripl - a village in the Republic of Adygea, located in the valley of the Belaya River. The same name has a mountain peak - Guzeripl, height - 2158m, located in the eastern part of the Lago-Naki high-mountain plateau and a mountain pass that separates the valleys of the Mutny Teplyak and Armenianka rivers. According to J.N. Kokov, in the first part of the toponym there may be a proper name Guzer (Guzer), the second part can be compared with the Adyghe stem pl (en) - "to look" or in the meaning of pl - "beautiful". This basis often appears as part of personal names, forming nicknames. According to K.Kh. Meretukov, the toponym originally had the form G'ozerypl. Based on this, some researchers argue that the translation of the toponym was based on the Adyghe gozerypl - “fly”. There is another argument as well. As you know, the secret path connecting the Ubykhs with the Abadzekhs was called Gozerypl - "landmark on the way." The trail went from the modern village of Dagomys through the Main Caucasian Range to the place where the village of Guzeripl is located.
GUZERIPL (2158) - the peak is located southeast of the city of Oshten. The name from Adyghe is translated ambiguously. According to one version they translate as; on the other: or.
GUZERTL (GUZERIPL). - In our opinion, the phonetically composition of the toponym is somewhat modified. Probably, its initial form was Gozerypl. But as a result of diphthongization about (u + e), a secondary form Guzarypl was formed, which was assigned to a geographical object. There are a number of conflicting statements about the origin of the name of the toponym. Some argue that the name of the toponym was based on the word gyozerypl, which exists in the Adyghe language: There is another argument as well. As you know, the secret mountain path that connected the Ubykhs with the Abadzekhs was called Gozerypl. . The trail went from the village of Dagomukov (now Dagomys) through the ridge to the place where the current village of Guzeripl is located. This last judgment among specialists is considered the most acceptable in explaining the etymological meaning of the name Guzarypl. Guzeripl is the center of the Caucasian Reserve. Its surroundings are famous for its sights. Here is a museum that demonstrates the fauna and flora of these places. During 1942-1943. Guzeripl was where the troops of the Soviet Army and partisan detachments were operating. In August 1942, a fierce battle with the Nazi invaders took place here. The detachment, led by Senior Lieutenant Shipa, completely smashed the elite groups. The Nazis did not pass through the ridge to Sochi. In the district of the reserve, a monument was erected to those who died in this battle. Interesting ancient monuments, including dolmens, were found in the vicinity of Guzeripl. A bronze hammer, a helmet, spears and gold coins, a large stone vase, beads, and stone cannonballs were found in one of the burial mounds. The name Guzeripl belongs to the mountain, the village and the river, which flows from the right side into the river. White in the same village.

Walk around Guzeripl and surroundings
It is worth starting a walk along Guzeripl with a visit to the cordon of the Caucasian Reserve. The protected area begins right in the village, behind the bridge over the Belaya River. A little over 100 people live in the village itself. Recently, it has been actively developing as a tourist center, new guest houses and other infrastructure are being created.
On the right bank of the Belaya, about 300 m from the bridge, rangers live on the cordon and is located Museum of Nature of the Caucasian Reserve, dedicated to the local fauna and flora, as well as the history of the recovery of the bison population. Since 1979, this protected area has the status of a biosphere and is part of the international system of reserves of the Earth's biosphere. And since 1999, the lands of the reserve have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The museum is open to visitors from 10.00 to 17.00 (with a break from 13.00 to 14.00). Not far from the museum stands one of the best-preserved large Adyghe dolmens, the height of which reaches 2.5 m. The age of this megalithic structure, made of large sandstone slabs, has exceeded 4.5 thousand years.
In addition, on the right bank of the river Belaya you can visit the monument on the mass grave of the soldiers who defended the village during the Great Patriotic War. It is located on the right tributary of the Belaya - the Molchepa River.
Uninhabited territories of the spurs of the Caucasus Range begin from Guzeripl. Mountain gorges surround the village from all sides. From the south, at a distance of about 10 km, rises pasture Abago. The route to it is laid from the mouth of the river. Molchepa. To climb the alpine meadows of Abago, you need to get permission from the staff of the Caucasian Reserve.

On the Guzeripl r. Belaya receives a large left tributary - the Zhelobnaya River. An asphalt road leads from its mouth to the west, gaining height to the tourist center "Partizanskaya Polyana" and above it - under the peaks of the Lagonaki mountain plateau. It was laid relatively recently to Yavorova Polyana, from where tourist groups get to the Fisht shelter along the trail.
Previously, a narrow-gauge railway ran along the right side of the Zhelobnaya valley, along which timber was delivered down to Guzeripl from logging sites on the mountain slopes. Prisoners worked here, including repressed Don Cossacks. From the village, the timber was rafted along the Belaya to Kamennomostsky. To walk to the location of the former loggers' camp in the Zaklyuchenka glade, you must also obtain permission from the administration of the Caucasian Reserve.
