The most unusual skyscrapers in the world. The largest skyscraper in the world. The most famous skyscrapers
Now let's look at a project that is just running.
In India, the construction of an unusually beautiful skyscraper has begun, which is scheduled for completion in 2014. The Namaste Tower, which will combine a business center, a hotel and a shopping and entertainment complex, will adorn the fifth largest metropolis in the world - the city of Mumbai (known as Bombay until 1995).
Many agree that it will be the most beautiful skyscraper in the world! Let's add it to our portfolio!
Namaste (Skt. नमस्ते, namaste IAST) is an Indian and Nepalese greeting, derived from the words "namah" - bow, "te" - to you. Namaste as a gesture is a combination of two palms in front of you. In a broad sense, it means: “The divine in me welcomes and unites with the divine in you” - that is, respectful admiration and glorification of the Almighty, the divine essence of the universe, of which man is a part, recognition of the unity and eternal spirituality of all that exists, according to existing traditions.
As conceived by the architects who developed the design of the building, the majestic skyscraper symbolizes the traditional Indian greeting with palms clasped together. And the ornate patterns that adorn the exterior of the building are borrowed from the tradition of mehndi (henna body painting), which is very common in India, the Arab countries and North Africa.
Designed by Atkins Design Studio for W Hotel, the skyscraper is set to become a local landmark that highlights India's economic and cultural significance.
The project assumes the presence of 62 floors and 300 m2 of space, which will house a huge luxury hotel, as well as offices and retail space.
Another original design feature of Namaste Tower will be the original ornament on the facade. He will repeat the patterns that, according to Indian traditions, cover the hands of the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony. The 64-story tower will be "clad" in a shell of fritted glass panels, on which a pattern will be applied. This will create a sense of transparency and depth in the building while maintaining thermal balance.
It is also proposed to supply the building with solar collectors - given the large surface area and annual solar conditions, they can provide 12% of the energy needed to heat hot water for the hotel. In addition to the W Hotel, the building will house office and retail space, and the top of the skyscraper will be decorated with a Sky restaurant and bar with stunning views of the huge city.
As expected, the royal and presidential suites of the hotel will be among the most luxurious of all existing in the world.
When developing an unusual relief of the future skyscraper, experts relied on the prospects of wind flow.
Preparatory work is underway before the construction of the foundation of the future Namaste skyscraper, Mumbai, India.
As usual, the construction of tall buildings is accompanied by the troubles delivered by groundwater.

In our time of high technology, architecture does not stand still. Designers take on board the most advanced achievements of science and technology and implement in their developments forms unusual for the human eye. The latest trend among architects is the unusual winding lines of skyscrapers. The first brainchild of this kind was Turning Torso, built in the Swedish city of Malmö.
The skyscraper is built in nine segments, consisting of five floors, which are offset from the previously installed base. A documentary was even made about the construction of this building by the Discovery Channel. The daring attempt of the Austrian parachutist Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from the top of a skyscraper with a parachute, added to the tower's fame. It happened on August 18, 2006.
So, after the successful completion of the skyscraper in Malmo, the designers began a tacit competition to design and build buildings of unusual shapes in all corners of the globe. Some projects could not withstand technical expertise and were curtailed, others were approved and built, and some are just beginning to be built. Let's evaluate the work of designers and architects and look at extraordinary houses.
Since Turning Torso was the first, it is necessary to start with it. The project of this "winding" structure was designed by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The building was officially opened in 2005. The height of the skyscraper is 190 meters. It includes 54 floors with 147 apartments, an entertainment complex, and a wine cellar. It is noteworthy that each floor of this amazing structure has a pentagonal shape, rotating around a vertical core. It is supported by an external steel structure.
To date, Turning Torso is considered the tallest building in Sweden and all Scandinavian countries, as well as the third tallest building in Europe.
Infinity Tower, Dubai.
This Tower of Infinity, located in Dabai, is 306 meters high and includes 76 floors. This facility is currently under construction. It has already been announced that once the skyscraper is put into operation, it will become the tallest working spiral building in the world. The twist of its spirals will be 90 degrees. Infinity Tower was designed by the same architectural studio that built the Burj Khalifa and Trump Tower in Chicago.
The meandering Avaz tower in Sarajevo.
This winding skyscraper has a height of 176 meters. The building is distinguished by a curved facade and a very interesting design. The building has no living space. There are offices here: the headquarters of Dnevni Avaz and the offices of the media company of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Absolute towers in Canada.
If only offices are located in a skyscraper in Sarajevo, then the Absolute Tower, built in Canada, is an exclusively residential complex, moreover, consisting of two skyscrapers. The facility is located in Mississauga, Ontario. The first skyscraper of the complex has a height of 179 meters, the second - 161 meters. Behind the scenes, this building was nicknamed "Marilyn Monroe" because of the rather unusual and beautiful forms.
Kuwait Trade Center.
The Kuwait Trade Center, also known as Al Tijaria Tower, is a 218 meters high skyscraper. It is the tallest building in Kuwait.
Revolution Tower, Panama City.
The Revolution Tower is a kind of giant corkscrew in Panama City. This complex, which has a height of 242 meters, fit 52 floors, which are offices. The design of the skyscraper is unique in that as it grows, the reinforced concrete giant turns 360 degrees.
Hadid tower in Milan.
This winding tower was designed by renowned studio Zaha Hadid Architects. Its construction is currently underway in Milan, in the historical part of the city and is part of the CityLife quarter under construction. The Hadid Tower, according to the project, will have a height of 170 meters and include 44 floors. The facility will be connected to a metro station. Next to the skyscraper by Zaha Hadid Architects, the Arata Isozaki & Associates skyscraper (220 meters high) and the 150-meter Daniel Libeskind Tower are being built.
Evolution Tower in Moscow.
The Evolution Tower is part of the Moscow International Business Center, which became famous for its fires, embezzlement and imperfections. Each floor of this skyscraper is curved by 3 degrees relative to the previous one, which together gives a 135-degree rounding at the top. Completion of this facility is scheduled for this year.
Gehry skyscraper in Hannover.
This building, built in Hannover, can hardly be called a skyscraper, since it has only 9 floors. But the uniqueness of the object is in its external facade, which is made of stainless steel. The building was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
Opus in Hong Kong.
Frank Gehry has also worked in Hong Kong. Here, his winding building bears the name "Opus".
The object is also relatively not high, but original in its design. The house consists of 12 residential premises, two semi-detached houses. Moreover, the latter has its own swimming pools, parking, gyms. In addition, the houses provide for the processing of rainwater for watering lawns and flowers, as well as charging systems for electric vehicles.
Spiral towers of Mode Gakuen in Nagoya.
A complex of spiral buildings 170 meters high are located in Nagoya City (Japan). This is by no means a residential complex, but a 36-story educational institution. The architectural design of Mode Gakuen is more than unique. The shape of the towers is in the form of wings - narrow at the top, they change the axis of rotation as they grow, and create an organic curve. The towers seem to change shape when viewed from different angles.
The dancing house in Prague is far from the structures that we talked about above. But it is with this architectural object that I would like to end the selection, since, although it is mundane, it is still original and unusual.
The modern world is hard to imagine without skyscrapers. The first truly tall houses appeared only about 120 years ago. The term "skyscraper" was coined in the United States for office buildings built in New York City in the 1980s. 19th century William Le Baron Jenney. Houses of 10-12 floors reached a height of 76 m. By modern standards, they were not too impressive, but thanks to the steel structure they became a model for other buildings of this type that are being built today.
Currently, architects and designers are realizing the most daring skyscraper projects, for example, spiral, round, in the form of letters and crescents, "falling" skyscrapers and "cucumber" skyscrapers.
1. Revolution Tower, Panama
One of the most amazing and spectacular swirling towers can be seen in the capital of Panama, Panama City. The height of the Revolution Tower is 243 meters, and its rotation angle reaches 360 degrees. The construction of an office skyscraper was completed in 2011, its official name is The F&F Tower. The tower has 52 floors, its facade was lined with very beautiful mirror tiles, so in the daytime the building looks fantastic.
The construction of the skyscraper began in 2003 and was completed by 2008, but the skyscraper was commissioned three years later. The design of the tower is very complex, it is based on the principle of geometric rotation of the prism. Initially, the skyscraper construction project was a purely theoretical concept, which, thanks to the talent of local architects, was translated into reality.
One of the busy commercial streets of the city was chosen as the location of the skyscraper. Initially, a plot of a very small area was allocated for the skyscraper construction project - about 2,000 square meters. meters. The budget allocated for the construction of the Revolution Tower was also strictly limited and amounted to 50 million US dollars. Initially, the architects did not have the right to make a mistake, they managed to implement an amazing project on the first try, without unnecessary time and material costs. Today, a skyscraper built of reinforced concrete with a spectacular emerald-colored facade is one of the main decorations of the city.
2 Torre Agbar, Barcelona
The Agbar Tower was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel. The Agbar Tower is a modern skyscraper located in Plaza de Glorias Catalanes, Barcelona. This modern building was named after the owner of the Agbar Group holding company. The large-scale project was implemented by two construction companies: Architectoz and Dragadoz. Built in 2005, the Agbar Tower immediately attracted attention with its unusual design. The King of Spain was present at its opening and expressed his gratitude for such a bright modern decoration of the city. The water element, mountain ranges, urban motifs are intertwined in this unique building in Barcelona.
The Agbar Tower is a 34-storey building (plus 4 underground floors) with a height of 145 meters, the Agbar Tower ranks third in Barcelona in terms of height. Initially, it was assumed that the Agbar tower would be the office of the Barcelona-based Vodokanal. Office space here is 30,000 square meters. However, the splendor of the Agbar tower forced its owners to change the specifics of the office space, soon this building will become a hotel, the rank of which will be at least five stars.
The unreality of the Agbar tower is given by unusual lighting, consisting of 4000 units of LED technology embedded in a metal surface. The iridescent feeling is created by complex color combinations (about 16 million colors), creating the effect of a kind of “pixelated” color, it seems that the tower is all enveloped in color and light. Rectangular glass panels, located around the entire perimeter of the tower, are able to follow the thermal sensors, creating an even greater impression of indescribable delight from what they see. Everything was thought out during construction, even turning off the light as needed, because the blinds that open depending on the lighting help save a lot of energy.
The Agbar Tower is a building with a special double façade. Two layers form the basis of the facade. The first layer is a dense concrete shell lined with brightly colored metal sheets and randomly scattered squares of windows. The second layer is a system of translucent glass blinds placed at arm's length. Such a double facade system is quite economical, because it allows not to use air conditioners and an internal cooling system. The advantage of such a construction is obvious - it is not cold in winter and not hot in summer, everything is thought out in such a ventilation system. Such a structure gives the outlines of the building a kind of mysticism and unusualness. In the evenings, the Agbar Tower looks especially fabulous.
3. Turning Torso, Malmö, Sweden
The Malmö skyscraper called HSB Turning Torso, which translates as "spinning torso", is located on the Swedish side of the Öresund Strait. After completion of construction, this skyscraper became the tallest building not only in Sweden, but throughout Scandinavia. The height of the tower is 190 meters. The skyscraper is a 54-storey residential building with 147 apartments, as well as beauty salons, SPA centers, a gym, offices, a conference room, etc.
The project was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and officially opened on August 27, 2005. In 1999, the former managing director of HSB in Malmö, Johnny Orbak, saw in a brochure an image of a curved white marble sculpture of a man, which inspired him to build an unusual skyscraper. Shortly thereafter, he traveled to Zurich to persuade Calatrava to design an apartment building based on the idea of a cube-twisting structure.
As a result of their collaboration, a building was built in Malmö, consisting of nine segments of five-story pentagons, which are twisted relative to each other. The top segment twists 90 degrees clockwise with respect to the first floor. Each floor consists of an irregular pentagonal shape rotating around a vertical axis, which is supported by external reinforcement. The two lower segments are given over to office space. Initially, the apartments in the building were supposed to be sold, but the lack of interest in them has led to the fact that most of the apartments are now rented out. The owner several times unsuccessfully tried to sell the building.
Due to the fact that the building is private property, public access to it is limited.
4 Sheraton Huzhou Hotel, China
Architecture firm MAD Architects unveiled its first five-star hotel with the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort in 2013. Located south of China's famous Taihu Lake in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, this ring-shaped 27-storey building is inspired by traditional arched bridges and ancient ink painting techniques.
The resort features 282 luxurious rooms, 39 HotSpring Villas, two Super Deluxe Presidential Villas, and a Spa Villa that offers guests a choice of five different spa experiences.
The design of the complex is based on the idea of unity and infinity. At night, the "ring" is reflected in the lake and looks like a full luminescent moon. The five-star luxury of the hotel is manifested in the inlaid porticos and ceilings with citrine, which symbolizes wealth. And for the decoration of the reception desk and concierge, Red Rose cryolite (Red Rose) and Silk Road cryolite are used. However, along with outright extravagance and even some pretentiousness in the interior, the architects provided for the implementation of several energy-saving technologies in the project.
Unlike conventional glass façades, the reflective screens used in the Sheraton Huzhou design reduce the need for forced air conditioning. The very shape of the building provides shading for all balconies and promotes natural ventilation. Ultra-clear glass allows maximum access of natural light to interior spaces, thus eliminating the need for additional artificial lighting during the day. This not only saves energy, but also creates a pleasant atmosphere.
Often people have certain associations at the mention of the word "skyscraper" - a tall, glazed rectangular building with stunning views of the city. Most of them really are, but there are exceptions to the rule, which you will learn about in our roundup of the 14 most unusual skyscrapers in the world.
1 Genex Tower in Belgrade, Serbia
Located in third place in the Genex Tower, it resembles a huge gate that welcomes tourists from the west. The appearance of the complex is formed by concrete twin towers, united by a restaurant on the highest floors. Initially, the Belgrade giant was supposed to become a new symbol of Serbia, but despite this, it became one of the strangest buildings in Eastern Europe and one of the worst examples of brutalist architecture.
2. Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea
The North Korean skyscraper Ryugyong is considered one of the most controversial buildings in the world. The construction of the 105-storey hotel began in 1987, later it was frozen many times and was finally completed only in 2014. The triangular structure of the raw concrete building has been the subject of constant ridicule from professional architects. The skyscraper is regularly criticized - for example, in 2008 Esquire magazine called the hotel "the ugliest building in the history of mankind."
3. Elephant Tower in Bangkok, Thailand
The construction of the 32-story Bangkok tower, reaching 102 meters in height, was completed in 1997. Three concrete buildings, interconnected on the last 8 floors, are shaped like the silhouette of an elephant. This building was ranked 4th in the list of "20 Most Original Skyscrapers in the World".
4. Robot building in Bangkok, Thailand
The robotic building in Bangkok immediately catches the eye of tourists due to the obvious resemblance to its prototype. The reason for the construction of the building of the Bank of Asia was the desire to draw public attention to the problem of computerization of the banking sector. The author of the project, Sumet Jumsay, drew inspiration from his son's toy robot. The architect sees his skyscraper as a protest against the postmodern architecture that swept the world in the early 1980s.
5. Headquarters of China Central Television CCTV in Beijing, China
The 44-story skyscraper that serves as the headquarters of China Central Television was nicknamed "pants" shortly after it opened in 2009. The building is built in an unusual style and is a ring structure of five horizontal and vertical sections that form an irregular lattice on the facade of the building with an empty center.
6. Torre Velasca Tower in Milan, Italy
The mushroom tower is located in the very center of Milan. Torre Velasca definitely contrasts with the surrounding architecture, despite the fact that this tower was designed in the style of Italian medieval castles. Since its construction in 1954, it has evoked a wide range of emotions among citizens - some admire this building, while others criticize it for being too large for these places.
7. Kingdom Tower in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The mosque tower, made in the shape of a keyhole, is located in the Arab city of Riyadh. It is the tallest building in Saudi Arabia and the second tallest mosque in the world. The Kingdom Tower, also known as the Burj Al Mamlaka, has been named "Most Stylish Skyscraper" by the prestigious Emporis Skyscraper Awards. It is interesting to note that the architects created the keyhole at the top of the building due to local laws prohibiting the construction of large objects above a certain height.
8. Lloyd's building in London, UK
Lloyd's building in London

Lloyd's building in London
The Llloyd's building, located in the English capital, has become a classic of high-tech architectural style. This unusual complex attracts the attention of passers-by with pipes, cables, elevators, stairs and other engineering elements taken out to the outside. All this was done in order to maximize the internal space.
The Hong Kong office complex Lippo, consisting of two towers (48 and 44 floors), was built in 1988. The author of this skyscraper is the American architect Paul Rudolph. He owns the original idea of creating a large object of two towers, vaguely reminiscent of koalas hugging tree trunks.
10. Wooden skyscraper in Arkhangelsk, Russia
The tallest wooden building in the world, a 13-story "skyscraper" in Arkhangelsk, was built by Russian mobster Nikolai Sutyagin. It seems incredible that he built the house alone for 15 years, adding new floors every year. However, after his next imprisonment, the finally completed house turned out to be unnecessary to anyone and was demolished in 2012.
11. Watts Towers in Los Angeles, USA
Reaching over 30 meters in height, the Watts Towers were erected by the Italian immigrant Simon Rodia in 33 years. A simple Italian who knew nothing about construction used piles of scrap metal, plastic, sea shells, empty glass bottles and other garbage to create this masterpiece. Today, the incredible complex is considered one of the symbols of Los Angeles and is listed as a National Historic Monument.
12. Umeda Skyscraper in Osaka, Japan
Nestled in the southern tropics of China, the Vanke Center, designed by American architect Stephen Hall, is considered the world's first "horizontal skyscraper". Built in 2009, the complex is an intricate structure of towers literally lying on its side. The Vanke Center is considered one of the most significant environmental structures in the history of mankind. The construction of skyscrapers is a kind of competition between architects, and the height of the building plays a very significant role. The largest skyscrapers of the European continent are included in our review. However, it is worth noting that today skyscrapers should not only impress people with their dimensions, but also create a favorable environment for them, which they successfully cope with.
The list has already been compiled more than once by various publications of the Old World. Today we decided to follow their example, presenting to your attention a small selection of the most impressive and unusual buildings with a height of more than 100 meters.
DC Tower (Vienna, Austria)
Opening our list is the tallest building in Austria, the eco-friendly skyscraper DC Tower 1, also known as the Donau City Tower. This building was built on the banks of the Danube in 2013 and immediately fell into all sorts of lists of the most impressive buildings of our time. The thing is that this 250-meter building with a wave-like facade is one of the few skyscrapers in the world built in accordance with all the standards of "green" architecture. The building, in particular, has water-saving showers, energy-efficient elevators, as well as many other interesting features that are inextricably linked with environmental issues. The "life support" of the tower is due to environmentally friendly energy. The author of such an impressive project is the French architect Dominique Perrault.
Currently, a second similar tower, DC Tower 2, is being built opposite DC Tower 1. The construction of the common complex is planned to be completed in 2015, but even now the Donau City business center in Vienna can be safely called one of most beautiful skyscrapers planets.
Petronas Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
The Petronas Towers is one of the oldest complexes on our list. The construction of these two amazing towers took place from 1992 to 1998. At the same time, two towers were built in parallel by two different construction companies, and the then leader of the country, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, took an active part in the design of the object. It was at his command that eight-pointed stars were laid in the silhouette of the buildings, which was supposed to make the Petronas Towers the most "Islamic" skyscrapers in the world.
However, this is not what brought worldwide fame to the complex. After their erection, Petronas Towers were recognized as one of the most structurally complex structures on the planet, as well as one of the largest structures in Southeast Asia. The useful area of the buildings is equal to the area of 48 football fields, and the total area of the complex exceeds 40 hectares. In addition, the foundation on which 450-meter buildings are supported reaches 100 meters in depth, which is the absolute record of the planet.
Currently, the Petronas Towers are one of the most recognizable symbols of Malaysia, as well as one most beautiful skyscrapers Asia.
- Federation Tower (Moscow, Russia)
photo city.rf
The complex of two buildings in the center of Moscow rises above the ground at 242-a (West) and 374-re (East) meters, respectively. According to this indicator, the building ranks first in Europe, remaining not only one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in Russia, but also one of the tallest buildings in the Old World.
In total, 67 elevators are involved in the life support of the tower (10 more than in Burj Khalifa), each of which moves at a speed of 8 meters per second. And a special concrete frame, made of unique high-strength B90 concrete, gives the complex increased stability, which, according to the authors of the project, should be enough for the building to withstand a direct hit from an aircraft.

Initially, the project also provided for a 506-meter spire, in which it was planned to place an observation platform. However, this idea was later abandoned. The Federation Tower is currently in the final stages of construction. One of most beautiful skyscrapers Europe will be finally put into operation in 2016.
CAYAN Tower (Dubai, UAE)
One of the most unusual buildings in Dubai, and at the same time the tallest "twisted" building on the planet rightfully takes its place in the list most beautiful skyscrapers our vast earth. The design of this 300-meter tower was carried out by the famous American bureau Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and, according to the architects' idea, was to minimize the effect of wind on the stability of the tower.
However, the twisted body of the skyscraper also has a pronounced aesthetic value: from the base to the roof, the silhouette of the building twists exactly 90 degrees. This fact allowed the CAYAN tower, also known as the Infinity Tower, to become one of the permanent participants in various lists of the most impressive buildings on our planet.

Flame Towers (Baku, Azerbaijan)
The "flame towers" of Azerbaijan are located exactly in the center of our list. Three gigantic buildings with a height of 190 meters amaze with their unusual concept and impressive lighting. In 2013, the authoritative portal skyscrapercity.com ranked Flame Towers in first place in the list of buildings on earth with the most impressive backlight. Subsequently, the Discovery and Science Channel channels presented their separate reports about this complex. However, such attention is quite understandable. In fact, the entire facade of the buildings is high-precision LED screens, thanks to which in the evenings Flame Towers look like giant flames.
Due to the favorable location of the building, it can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. At the moment, the "Fire Towers" are one of the main symbols of Baku and all of Azerbaijan, the name of which, by the way, is also translated from Persian as "Gathering Fire".
CCTV Headquarters (Beijing, China)
Read also:
One of the most unusual buildings on our list. The China Central Television building was built in 2009 by Dutch and German architects Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheren. The aestheticism of the 234-meter skyscraper has been repeatedly questioned. But the originality of the structure has always been noted by the world's leading architectural publications.
In 2010, the famous "Pants" were included in the TOP of the most unusual buildings in the Middle Kingdom. On several occasions, CCTV Headquarters was also included in the the most beautiful skyscrapers in the world.
Al Bahar (Abu Dhabi, UAE)
The headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council are two 145-meter towers located right in the middle of the Arabian deserts. The architecture of the towers is an amazing blend of modern technology and the traditional mashrabiya style, characterized by an abundance of intricately patterned latticework. However, this fact is not the only interesting feature of these towers. The thing is that the golden “scales” of buildings are not only an element of decor, but also a special ventilation system, consisting of two thousand modules that open depending on the location of the sun. Thanks to them, even in a 50-degree heat, a comfortable atmosphere is maintained in the building, and the energy consumption of the tower is also reduced by 50 percent.
Burj al Arab (Dubai, UAE)
The next item is again the UAE. "Arab Tower" - Burj al Arab - opens the top three of our list most beautiful skyscrapers in the world. Built on an artificial island, the 321-meter building is rightfully considered one of the most elegant, aesthetic and recognizable buildings on our planet. In addition, the famous hotel is also a real embodiment of Arab luxury. Helipads, an underwater restaurant imitating a submarine, a hall covered in gold leaf, panoramic elevators and golf courses located at dizzying heights - all this splendor has turned Burj al Arab into a living symbol of Dubai life. Today, the image of the "seven-star" hotel flaunts on thousands of postcards, magnets and other souvenirs brought from Dubai.
A few years ago, the authorities of the emirate even presented a separate city logo, where the letter “D” in the word “Dubai” was made in the form of an “Arab Tower”.
Sheraton Huzhou Hotel (Huzhou, China)
Honorary silver of our list most beautiful skyscrapers in the world goes to another representative of the Middle Kingdom - the Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort. This building, reaching a height of 102 meters, is more than half the height of the CCTV building, but despite this, its construction cost investors almost twice as much - $ 1.5 billion! This fact is connected with the unusual bionic shape of the hotel, which, in fact, made this skyscraper famous all over the world. However, such a "horseshoe" structure also has a purely practical function. Such an engineering solution adds greater resistance to earthquakes to the structure.
In addition to the unusual silhouette, the skyscraper's façade, which is decorated with 19,000 LED lanterns, is also a bright detail of the skyscraper.
Absolute Towers (Mississauga, Canada)
Despite the fact that most of the most beautiful and impressive skyscrapers of our time are located in China and the United Arab Emirates, the first place on our list today went to the birthplace of high-rise buildings - North America. Canadian skyscrapers Absolute Towers today proudly top our list, as well as dozens of other "hit parades" of multi-storey buildings.
It is noteworthy that the author of this structure was the Chinese architects from the MAD studio, who developed the design of these amazing undulating buildings. The "twisted" form of the building makes the building visually rotate, and also helps to eliminate the vertical barriers common in multi-story buildings. Both skyscrapers do not have a single repeating balcony or floor, which creates a unique environment for the residents of this residential complex.
Currently, two towers, 180 and 161 meters high, are the main symbol of the small town of Mississauga, located in the suburbs of Toronto. In 2012, the architectural complex was awarded the title of the best high-rise building in America. Today we decided to put it in first place in our ranking of the most beautiful skyscrapers on the planet.
Good luck and goodbye!
