"MK" has compiled a list of beaches for different pockets
Beach recreation is the most popular in the summer. And if you don’t aim at seaside resorts, then it’s also the most affordable. After all, if you wish, you can get to the “big water” in an hour or two by train, car, bus and even minibus. In the Moscow region there are many quarries, reservoirs, rivers and lakes that attract with their sandy beaches, shady shores and clear-looking water. Just to know for sure how safe it is there and what you have to pay for.
A good beach must meet two criteria: the area is equipped for recreation, and the reservoir is recognized as suitable for swimming. Then this corner of nature receives the honorary title “official beach” from the State Technical Supervision Authority. Otherwise, if there is neither infrastructure nor confirmation of good water quality, a secluded place near a reservoir will be considered a wild beach. If swimming is officially prohibited, but the area is landscaped, it should be called a water recreation area. Today, there are more than 20 official beaches and more than 150 recreation areas near the water in the Moscow region. By order of the governor, 26 more will be equipped by the end of the swimming season.
WHAT IS THE MANDATORY MINIMUM FOR SWIMMING BEACHES?
Permission from Rospotrebnadzor for swimming (water samples in the water areas of reservoirs are taken in April and May. The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Service also carries out diving inspections and bottom cleaning).
Small architectural forms: sunbeds, benches, changing cabins, trash cans, garbage containers.
Rescue station, rescue boat, rescue tower, first aid kit with medicines for first aid. Ideally, there should be three lifeguards on each beach: one on duty at the tower, another in a boat on the water, and a third on standby.
Medical Center.
Stands with rules of behavior on the water.
Only a third of the official beaches in the Moscow region are free. Here you will find exactly the minimum that such recreation areas should have: sunbeds, canopies, toilets, locker rooms, and in some places sports fields. But where the management of the beaches decided to earn extra money, there will be a lot of additional services: a trampoline for kids, gazebos, barbecues, a cafe, parking, water attractions and donkey (horses, camels) riding.
Wild beaches are practically not equipped with anything; no one is responsible for cleanliness and safety there. Any section of the coast can be called a wild beach. The danger in such places lies in ignorance of the bottom and composition of the water. And rivers and lakes can have underwater cliffs, currents and springs.
So every lover of basking in the sun is faced with a choice. But to help residents of the Moscow region, MK has compiled two lists of beaches where you can safely swim, even if you don’t have extra money in your pocket.

Despite the fact that Moscow is not a seaside resort, there are places where you can swim not only for adults, but also for children.
As a rule, the swimming season in the capital opens on July 1. With the onset of summer, people began to go outdoors more and more often; many also want to sunbathe in the sun and swim. There are special places for this in the capital, which we will discuss below.
It is worth saying that the preparation of the recreation area began in April, because already in May people began to go out into nature.
In Moscow there are the following recreation areas:
— where you can swim;
— where you can sunbathe.
This division was based on the safety of the reservoir, its day and the coastal area. Well-maintained beaches have a safe entry into the water, a fenced-in swimming area, an area for children, toilets, showers, changing cabins, a rescue and medical center.
Rospotrebnadzor publishes a list of places for swimming in early June, thus opening the swimming season.
1. Meshchersky pond in Solntsevo. It belongs to the group of reservoirs that were artificially created. The three-meter dam that forms Meshchersky Avenue supports the reservoir. There are no residential buildings here, so there are not many people. On weekends, many vacationers from different parts of the capital come here.
The beach here is small, only 100 meters, but there is a place where you can sit. The beach has a metal fence. There is a place to park a car.
The reservoir is not deep at all and the water is not clear, this makes it possible to warm up quickly. There are changing cabins on site. There is also a children's playground, divided into several zones. The downside is the lack of sun loungers, so you need to take a blanket with you.
2. Beach "Levoberezhny". This beach has been open since the 50s. The only drawback here is the electrical substation, which spoils the entire landscape. There are very few parking spaces. Residents of other areas of the capital also come to this beach.
On weekends there are a lot of people on the beach, sometimes it is very difficult to find a place to relax. The water here is clear and warms up quickly. The area of this beach is also landscaped, there are benches, bridges, gazebos, stairs, a sports area, and a children's area.
3. Troparevsky pond in Teply Stan. This pond was artificially created. The park appeared back in 1961. This beach has also been improved, in particular, work was carried out to build an amphitheater, sports and children's playgrounds were created, and there is a swimming area.
At the beginning of summer the water is clear but very cold. The place is in great demand among residents of the capital; in the morning people take the best seats. Since the shore of the pond is high, wooden bridges were specially built to descend into the water.
For children there is a playground with inflatable trampolines, free Wi-Fi, and a cafe where you can have a good time. The beach also has all the necessary amenities.
4. Serebryany Bor-2 in Khoroshevo. This place is the most famous, its territory is protected. The length of the beach is 150 meters. It is not very convenient to go into the water, especially for small children. Even though the water is clean, it warms up very slowly.
You can use the toilet, shower, and changing room for free. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent. Despite the price, in the morning all the seats are already taken. Animators work specially for guests and organize interesting games and competitions.
5. Serebryany Bor-3 in Khoroshevo. This beach is considered the third largest in terms of size, where you can also swim. The beach area is completely fenced. Parking is designed for 160 cars. The coast stretches for 450 meters. Lots of places to sunbathe.
There is a lot of entertainment here, there are sports grounds, restaurants, playgrounds and much more.
6. Lake Beloe in Kosino. The beach has a metal fence. Parking is designed for 150 cars. Rzero is popular among all residents of the capital. The shore stretches for 300 meters. The water is very clean and meets all sanitary requirements.
The territory has all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay.
7. Large city pond, reports Ros-Registr. Since the reservoir is located next to the city administration, all events and celebrations are held here. The parking lot is very small, so you should go early. The length of the beach is 150 meters. The water is very clean, but not very convenient, because the reservoir is located close to the road.
Summer is coming, and many are already thinking about where to spend their vacation. Of course, many of us, out of habit, are ready to go to domestic and foreign seaside resorts. Those of you who can afford Nice, Mauritius or Miami need not read any further :) But most of us remember with nostalgia the affordable visa-free holidays in Turkey and Egypt. But this opportunity is closed for now, and, it seems, for a long time. At the Black Sea resorts of Russia this summer, a rush is expected with all its consequences: expensive, queues, beaches crowded, “our” service and a shortage of hotel rooms.
Holidays on lakes in our country can be a good alternative. We bring to your attention the best places where you can swim and sunbathe, improve your health and go fishing, and just see new interesting places and relax with the whole family inexpensively.
Pskov Lake.
The most convenient way from Moscow is to first get to Pskov by plane or train, then travel 25 km by regular bus or by boat along the Velikaya River. Lake Pskov is part of a huge lake region on the border with Estonia. The lake is large and shallow, with an average depth of 4 meters. The water warms up to 22C from mid-June. The shores of the lake look very picturesque; they are covered with coniferous forests and sand dunes. Here you can relax as a “savage” or choose one of the resorts. In the summer, at the Pleskov country hotel, a double room costs 3,600 rubles, and at the Lukomorye recreation center, a standard room for two will cost 2,600 rubles. In addition to a beach holiday, you can go fishing (bream, pike perch, perch, roach), drive through the surrounding villages or admire ancient Pskov.
Lake Baikal.
Lake Baikal is one of the natural attractions of Russia, located on the border of the Irkutsk region and Buryatia. You can get from Moscow by plane or train to Irkutsk or Ulan-Ude. The lake's water surface area is approximately 32,000 square meters. km, which is comparable to the territory of Holland. This is the deepest and cleanest freshwater lake on our planet. The best places for swimming are the shores of the Barguzinsky and Chivyrkuisky bays; here in the summer the water warms up to 22C. And the most famous resort of Lake Baikal is the village of Listvyanka, it stretches for 5 km along the coast. You can stay inexpensively, for example, in the “Bodriy Medved” guest house (1,200 rubles per day for two), or in a luxury hotel similar to the Swiss chalet “Anastasia” (from 6,000 rubles per day for a double room in July). The energy center of Lake Baikal, Olkhon Island, is also considered a good place where you can improve your health; it is very beautiful and clean here. History buffs should see the Buddhist datsans, which are located nearby in the village of Arshan, and families with children will be interested in visiting the world’s only nerpentarium and seeing the famous Baikal seals live.
Lake Elton.
Lake Elton is the Russian analogue of the Dead Sea. It is located in the Volgograd region almost on the border with Kazakhstan. From Moscow, the most convenient way is to fly to Volgograd or take a train (directions Astrakhan, Makhachkala, Astana) to Elton station, which is located 6 km from the lake shore. The water temperature in the lake in July reaches 25C, but this process can hardly be called swimming, rather a bath, after which you need to take a fresh shower. Just like the Dead Sea, people come here for health reasons. At the beginning of the last century, the Elton sanatorium was built here (from 2800 rubles per day per person with treatment and food). Here they treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system, skin diseases, and relieve joint pain. Diseases of the respiratory tract, nervous system, gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary system also respond well to treatment. There is practically no resort infrastructure here, but guests can enjoy beautiful steppe landscapes, walks in the Eltonsky Natural Park and stunning views of the pink waters of the lake.
Lake Teletskoye.
Teletskoye Lake is located in the Altai Territory, on the border with the Western Sayan Mountains and is recognized as the most picturesque and one of the most visited lakes in Russia. There are regular direct flights from Moscow to Gorno-Altaisk, then you need to travel another 150 km by car or minibus. Local residents also call this lake Altyn-kel, that is, “golden lake.” And this is not an exaggeration. The lake is the main natural attraction of the Altai region. Nature has preserved its pristine nature here, and the banks of the reservoir are considered a unique protected area. The water is so clean and transparent that it seems like a natural aquarium, in which a huge number of fish species live, including burbot and grayling. People come here for excellent fishing, clean beaches and natural beauty. The only drawback for tourists is that even on the hottest summer days the water rarely warms up above 20C. You can stay at one of 18 campsites or at a camp site. Prices for daily accommodation per person range from 300 to 6,500 rubles.
Lake Uvildy.
Lake Uvildy is one of the largest and most beautiful natural reservoirs in the Urals. Getting there from Moscow is very easy. By plane or train to Chelyabinsk, then approximately 90 km by land transport to the resort sanatorium “Uvildy”. The name of the lake translates as “blue bowl”. The water in the lake is crystal clear and has healing properties - heals wounds and has a good effect on the condition of the skin. Thanks to its exceptionally clear water, the lake has long been a favorite of divers. And fishermen won’t be bored either - the lake is full of bream, pike, perch, crucian carp and roach. The fishing here is exceptional. There are many recreation centers and children's camps on the shores of the lake; residents of the surrounding Ural cities come here on weekends. The cost of spending the night in a sanatorium or at a tourist center in a room with amenities ranges from 2,500 to 6,000 rubles.
Lake region Seliger.
You can get here from Moscow or St. Petersburg by car or by train to Ostashkov station. A trip to this amazing land of small islands, rivers, lakes and almost 1,500 kilometers of beaches can easily replace a trip to the sea. The swimming season on Seliger is quite short, from July to mid-August, the water temperature is usually no higher than 22C. There are dozens of boarding houses, camp sites and sanatoriums on the lake shore. On average, accommodation in a double room with private amenities will cost about 3,000 rubles for two. When you get tired of swimming, sunbathing and fishing, you can go to the famous Nilova Heath, rent an ATV or ride a yacht.
It is worth noting that there are many wonderful places around the city where you can swim, fish and relax by the water. This review is about where you can plunge outside the city, but not too far away so that you can go by car, taxi, bicycle, bus or train.
1. Rainbow Waterfall on Nara
On the Kaluga highway, on the border with the Kaluga region in the area of the village of Papino, there is the largest waterfall in the Moscow region - Raduzhny. On a clear summer day you can see the sun playing in the streams and drops of sparkling icy water flowing from the steep banks into the Nara River. Many cold springs and springs formed a powerful stream here, falling from a height of five meters. The Nara makes a sharp bend in these places, opening up a stunning view of the waterfall itself and a whole cascade of springs located below.
The best place for swimming on the Nara is 200-300 meters upstream from Raduzhny, right after the ford and a small dam. There are six more springs along the way. In summer you can safely come here with a tent and spend the night. We recommend taking rubber boots and appropriate clothing: the banks of the Nara are steep and swampy due to the many springs.
How to get there:
45 kilometers from Moscow along the Kaluga Highway you need to turn right before the village of Papino. Before reaching the village, before the bridge over the Nara, turn right onto the asphalt road in front of the gas station. After 30 meters turn left onto a dirt road through a field. Along the road, about a kilometer on foot or by car to the slope overlooking the river. Further on, the waterfall can be found by the sound of falling water.
2. Lagovsky pond near the village of Romantsevo
Near the village of Romantsevo there is a large pond, in which there was even room for an island overgrown with forest. The shore is equipped with a diving tower, and there are changing cabins nearby. Most of the beach is cleared of trees. The surrounding area is landscaped: there are nets for playing beach volleyball, there is a horizontal bar, and there are air mattresses for rent. Under the old pine trees there are shelters with tables and chairs where you can have a picnic. There are public grills nearby. The main drawback, according to vacationers: the popularity of the place. On weekends, up to two thousand people gather at the pond. To get a good position, it is better to arrive in the morning. The pond is home to pike, carp, grass carp and crucian carp.
How to get there:
3. Shchapovskie ponds near the village of Ivankovo
Two large ponds connecting the villages of Ivankovo and Aleksandrovo were formed thanks to the Lubyanka River. This is an excellent place for fishing, swimming and camping. The bottom of the ponds is muddy, so many people prefer a platform for diving. The area is rich in wasps, so it is better to provide means of protection and defense. One of the reservoirs is stocked with predatory fish: pike perch, perch, and pike. In addition, there are crucian carp, roach, and carp. KRH Pessier is especially revered by spinning anglers and lovers of live bait fishing.
How to get there:
Five km beyond Podolsk along the Warsaw highway in the village of Oznobishino, turn right, after 5 km, immediately after the bridge over the stream at the entrance to Shchapovo, turn left, after 1 km to the left and right of the road there will be Shchapovskie ponds, and a kilometer and a half later - Pesye. You can get from Podolsk by buses No. 24, 32 and 34 to Shchapovo, then on foot. Or you can take a taxi directly from Podolsk.
4. Svitinsky ponds in Svitino/Zybino
Svitinskie ponds are located 20 kilometers from Podolsk. There is no separate recreation area here; people swim and sunbathe on concrete slabs overgrown with mud. It is better to go into the water in rubber swimming shoes. Not ideal, but a good option to take the plunge. You can also go fishing.
How to get there:
Drive into the region until the turn to Kiselevo. Through Kiselevo, without turning anywhere along the main road, to the signs for Svitino, Zybino. Next - straight to the beach. After the bridge, immediately to the right you will see the ponds themselves. You can get there by bus 1033 from Podolsk.
5. Pond in Polivanovo
There are many small cold rivers formed by springs near Podolsk. One of them has the beautiful name Konopelka.
In the Polivanovo area, this cool river is blocked by a dam, which forms three ponds. The central one is developed by the country club of recreation "Golden Carp": in this pond there are beluga weighing 120 kg, sturgeon and catfish each weighing 20 kg, and in addition: carp, common carp, bream, grass carp, trout, pike, whitefish, beluga, perch, crucian carp and roach. Fishing is paid and you cannot swim in it. And in the other two ponds this is just feasible.
How to get there:
The village of Polivanovo is located on the left bank of the Pakhra, about 10 km west of the center of the city of Podolsk. You can get there by bus 1034 from Podolsk.
6. Pond at Epiphany
The source of another small river Lopasnya is located in Epiphany. There is an excellent pond with spring water here. The banks of the pond are clayey and it is best to swim from wooden bridges. There are a couple of places where you can enter the water from the shore, but the bottom is muddy and not level. There is a sandy piece of beach, but it is in a closed cottage community. The central platform from which young people dive into the water is small, the area around it is covered with sand - it was made by the owner of a store located across the road from the river. There are tables and benches near the store.
How to get there:
Drive towards the region from Podolsk for about 30-35 km, turn at the Epiphany sign, then follow the main road. Or by bus 1077 from Podolsk.
7. Lakes near the village of Satino-Russkoye
Near the villages of Ovechkino and Satino-Russkoye there are three reservoirs. You can get to them directly by car. The main disadvantage is that the beaches are very crowded on weekends.
How to get there:
8. Rozhaika River and spring
On the Rozhayka or Rozhayka river, the festival “Kupala on Rozhayka” is held annually in the summer. In these places there is a pond, a river and a spring.
How to get there:
From Podolsk you can take bus 71 to the Ferma stop. By car: along the concrete road until you turn to Valishchevo and the Allur equestrian club. After Valishchevo turn left onto Menshovo.
9. And another pleasant vacation spot on the Rozhaya River is located near the village of Ivanovka.
How to get there:
From Podolsk you can take bus 71 to the Turgenevo stop. Continue on foot.
10. Polenovo and Tarusa on the Oka
In addition to the beautiful places around Podolsk, thanks to electric trains, you can go a little further - to the Oka. The railway station is also called just outside Serpukhov; when you reach it in an hour from Podolsk, you will immediately find yourself on the sandy banks of this picturesque river. But you can drive four more stops and get off at Tarusskaya station (Zaoksky village) to get to the legendary places glorified by the artist Polenov. The forests of the Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve begin here. This option is more suitable for a trip with tents for a couple of days, because in one it is impossible to explore the legendary Zaoksk valleys and enjoy a holiday on the Oka River. You can get to Polenovo by bus, and then travel on foot. Polenovo is located on the Tula bank of the Oka, and Tarusa is on the Kaluga bank. You can get from one bank to the other on motorboats with the help of local residents.
How to get there:
Along the Simferopol highway (M2 or E-105 “Crimea”) after the bridge over the Oka River, after 4.5 km there will be a turn to Zaoksky (Staro-Simferopol highway). Further along the main road to Malakhovo 10 km. In Malakhovo, turn right at the sign “Polenovo” and then follow the main road for 9.6 km, and after turning right at the sign “Polenovo” for 3.6 km.
By train: from Podolsk station to Tarusskaya station, then by car or bus to Velegozh (with a stop in the village of Strakhovo) or to Lanshino. Get off at the “Selo Strakhovo” stop, then walk 1 km, straight in the direction of travel.
