A beautiful flight with Ryanair. Stay informed: all the nuances of cheap flights with Ryanair Baggage allowance
Thanks to the low prices on tickets offered by European low-cost airlines, you can easily put together a package that includes visiting several European countries at once for very little money! But flying with low-cost airlines has its own characteristics - they remain cheap only if you clearly know their rules and act according to them.
Our first instruction is on how to buy a cheap ticket from the low-cost airline Ryanair (flies throughout Europe, as well as to Morocco and Israel) and not overpay for additional services! There is a lot of information, but it will seem difficult only the first time! Then you’ll get used to it, because Ryanair’s ticket prices are the cheapest in Europe and it’s hard to resist this fact!)
Where to fly with Ryanair
Hand luggage
You can take one bag with dimensions of 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm on the plane for free. With the paid Priority & 2 Cabin Bags priority boarding service (from 6 euros), you can additionally take 1 suitcase up to 10 kg as hand luggage.
If a child under 2 years of age is flying with you without a seat, an additional bag with children's things weighing up to 5 kg is allowed as hand luggage.
Weight and dimensions are controlled very strictly; hand luggage must fit in a special frame. If the hand luggage does not correspond to the dimensions, weight and quantity, then it is possible to be denied boarding on the plane or to place the hand luggage in the cargo compartment of the plane for a substantial surcharge!
All current baggage requirements from Ryanair
Baggage
Baggage is paid. To fly cheaply, it is better to do without luggage at all and travel with free hand luggage of a specified weight and size.
If you still need luggage, it is more profitable to pay for it immediately along with the flight. Paying later or at the airport will cost much more! You can take with you up to three pieces of luggage weighing 10-20 kg. The maximum size of checked baggage must not exceed 119cm x 119cm x 81cm. An additional fee is charged for overweight. The cost of luggage depends on the season and route, you can ask for an approximate price, the exact cost will be displayed when booking tickets directly
Carefully note the required type of baggage for each leg of the journey, because when you select baggage for the outbound flight, the system will automatically add a similar baggage option for the return flight!
Additional paid services
When you add additional paid services, flying with RyanAir ceases to be budget-friendly, so think carefully about what you really need and what you can do without:
Reserve Seats(by default, seats on the plane will be assigned randomly during check-in, but for an additional fee (from 4 euros / person per segment) you can book specific seats and still get benefits - the whole family or friends are nearby, comfortable seats, the ability to check in online for 60 days before departure). Please note that if you are traveling with children from 2 to 12 years old, this option is required (the service is free for children);
Get Insurance(additional medical insurance and insurance in case of ticket return) - refuse,
Priority & 2 cabin bags(priority boarding) - if necessary. This option allows you to take 2 pieces of free hand luggage on board ().
Fast Track(quick security check) - refuse,
renting a car, booking a hotel - refuse,
Parking(parking) - only if necessary,
Airport Transfer(transfer from the airport) - if the airport is located far outside the city, perhaps purchasing a transfer will be profitable - check the prices in advance,
non-standard luggage(equipment for transporting children (Baby Equipment), sports equipment (Sport Equipment) and musical instruments (Music Equipment)) - only if necessary.
The cost of additional services can be viewed directly when purchasing tickets or in advance. If you need any additional services, it is better to buy them immediately when purchasing tickets - it’s cheaper!
Fee for payment by credit card
There is no fee when paying for tickets with a debit card; when paying by credit card, a fee of 2% of the purchase amount is charged. However, many debit cards from Russian banks are defined as credit cards, so be prepared for a 2% commission!
Currency conversion upon payment
After entering all the information about the bank card, the following message may appear to the right: “Your debit/credit card will now be charged xxxxx RUB (or $) (xxxxx EUR). Click here for more information on our guaranteed exchange rate (this mainly happens with MasterCard Standard cards). The airline offers to issue an invoice for tickets not in euros, but in rubles or dollars, but the conversion occurs at an unfavorable rate. You can refuse this way: click on “Click here” in the inscription that appears and in the window that opens, REMOVE the conversion checkbox.
Ryanair flight check-in online
Starting from 48 hours and up to 2 hours before departure, you must register for the flight on the website and print out your boarding pass (Boarding Card) on A4 paper (to go through the visa check procedure at the airport (see next point)). Otherwise, checking in at the airport will cost you 45 euros/person, and printing your boarding pass at the check-in counter will cost you 15 euros/person!
Don't forget that you need to check in for your return flight separately!
How to print a coupon if you are already traveling and not at home? Ask your hotel or hostel for an email where you can send your boarding pass for printing. You can also use an additional paid service for reserving a seat on an airplane (from 4 euros / person for each segment when purchased simultaneously with a ticket), which allows you to check in for a flight 60 days before departure - you can easily print out your boarding pass at home!
Visa Check procedure
At the airport, before departure, at the airline counter, you must go through a document and visa check procedure (Visa Check), and your printed boarding pass will be stamped accordingly. According to Ryanair rules, this is always mandatory for all non-EU/EEA citizens, including citizens of the Russian Federation/CIS.
Recently, they stopped requiring Visa Check on a number of domestic flights in Europe. But still, if possible, take a printed boarding pass with you
Ticket changes
Always carefully fill out passenger information when purchasing tickets, because... all subsequent changes are paid and very expensive. It is often cheaper to buy a new ticket! Changing a flight starts from 30 euros, if you do it yourself on the airline’s website (even more expensive at the airport). Changing the name on the ticket costs 110 euros on the website and 160 euros at the airport.
First, a little history. Following the deregulation of the European air travel market in the late 1970s, the classic single-hub airlines began to lose their monopoly position in the market.
Founded in 1984, the airline took advantage of this opportunity and began flying from Waterford and Dublin in Ireland to London - on tasty routes previously owned by two major players, Aer Lingus and British Airways. And since 1987, flights to Europe have opened.

But things did not go so smoothly, and Ryanair initially did not have the current concept, and in 1991 it was on the verge of bankruptcy. Called to correct the situation, Michael O'Leary studied the experience of the American low-cost airline Southwest Airlines (yes, Ryanair was not a pioneer in the world of low-cost airlines) and realized that the key to survival would be low prices, quick turnaround of aircraft (minimum time at the airport between flights), and fees for everything additional services, a single type of aircraft and a single class of seats in it (economy). In 1992, as part of deregulation, the EU allowed European airlines to operate flights between all European countries without restrictions. And from then on, the history of the Ryanair that we know now begins.
First of all, it is worth saying that Ryanair’s main competitors in the fight for new passengers now are not, or other airlines. None of the air carriers has such an extensive network of direct flights.
Rival number 1 is the railway and companies such as Eurostar. They offer high-speed transportation at a relatively low price. And this is one of the reasons for creating marketing promotions with “£1 tickets”.
The Irish airline devotes a lot of resources to stimulating the market - through cheap tickets they win new, loyal customers in the future, and win over those who previously used exclusively the train or traveled little at all. In a word, they are increasing their customer base.

The next success factor is the unification of the fleet. Ryanair is ordering new aircraft models of the same type - Boeing 737-800. This allows you to get a good price from the manufacturer, save on maintenance and personnel training (no need to retrain from one model to another). It is rare to find an aircraft older than 10 years in the Ryanair fleet.
One of the stumbling blocks in negotiations with Boryspil airport was the turnaround time of aircraft on the ground. Ryanair maintains a 25-minute rule between landing and the next takeoff. In particular, for this reason (and also in order to save money), telescopic bridges are not used.
So, if you are already invited to board, do not rush to rejoice - most likely, your plane has just landed from the previous flight, and you will have to stand in line under the open sky.
Also, quick turnaround is facilitated by the minimum amount of luggage that needs to be loaded on board. And don't forget that the weight of excess baggage increases an airplane's fuel consumption, so baggage fees have a very strong commercial rationale.
When it comes to staff, this is one of the airline's Achilles heels. Working conditions are below market average, high staff turnover. The result is frequent strikes by pilots and flight attendants. Just recently, 600 flights had to be canceled due to such a strike. This is another nuance that needs to be taken into account when planning a trip with Ryanair - it is good to have a backup option, because the Irish often do not guarantee a connection, and the cancellation of one flight can cost you the loss of the entire route.
The situation with personnel, according to European aviation experts, is the greatest risk factor for the company in the future - now there are still enough people willing to work for Ryanair, but in the future their image in the eyes of potential employees may deteriorate so much that the company will face a real personnel crisis.

Michael O'Leary has proven himself to be an excellent manager from the very beginning and has not lost his touch for the third decade. The boss of Ryanair negotiates very aggressively, often from a position of strength. The airline has leverage over both airports (often a city or country needs Ryanair more than a new destination to the carrier) and on aircraft manufacturers (Boeing clearly does not want to lose such a large buyer). This allows us to obtain conditions acceptable to the airline.
Again, there is an example with the entry into Ukraine last year when Ryanair chose to curtail the project instead of coming to a compromise. We do not know the exact terms on which the parties agreed this year, but we can assume that for the Irish these conditions will be no worse than they were offered a year ago.
In general, Ryanair prefers to cooperate not with the main airports in the region, but with more remote ones, from which there are ground connections to major cities. You can negotiate with them for a lower cost of service, as well as receive marketing support.

My experience flying with RyanAir
Probably all travelers who have flown with RyanAir at least once can say something about this airline: the Irish low-cost airline leaves no one indifferent. Some praise it to the skies, admiring the low fares, while others criticize it for its complex ticket purchasing system and strict flight rules. However, in any case, RyanAir was and remains one of the most popular airlines in Europe, which means it is really good, no matter what they say!
So, my first acquaintance with an Irish discounter happened back in 2008, when my friends and I bought tickets on the Tampere - Frankfurt - Milan route and back directly from Milan to Tampere.
Flight Tampere - Frankfurt (Hann) helped me draw a very important conclusion: never fly from this Finnish airport again, because it is too far. The road from St. Petersburg to Tampere seemed to last forever, although in fact it takes about 8–9 hours without heavy traffic jams at the border. Moreover, this pleasure turned out to be not very expensive for us (only 27 €), since we managed to “fit” into the minibus, which was bought entirely by a group of our friends.
Flight Frankfurt (Hann) - Milan (Bergamo) forced my friends, and then me, to draw certain conclusions even at the stage of preparation for the trip. As I later found out, we had two tickets for this route: for the day of the flight from Tampere and the next day in case of a severe delay in the first flight. In this way, my friends prepared for the possible disruption of their connection to a non-connecting flight. And I, in ignorance, was very worried when the flight from Tampere was delayed by 20 minutes! By the way, we only had 2.5 hours for the transfer, which, in my opinion, is a little risky.
Flight Milan (Bergamo) - Tampere confirmed the earlier conclusion that I would no longer fly from Tampere. Besides the fact that it takes a long time to get there, on the way back it also turned out to be very expensive for us. This time the price tag was completely standard - 50 € one way (although sometimes 45 €). By simple calculations we get 90-100 € for a round trip, and adding to this the cost of the flight, we understand that for the same money you can fly from St. Petersburg. To do this, you just need to catch sale tickets, and you can also find ones that include baggage and meals on board! Of course, in 2008 there were many fewer such promotions than today, but now they exist, but the price tag for a transfer to Tampere has remained the same.
My next date with RyanAir happened in 2009, when the first planes of my favorite low-cost airline flew from the town of Lappeenranta, closest to the Russian-Finnish border. Not to take part in this great event would be an unforgivable omission! And we flew, but this time the route turned out to be simple: Lappeenranta - Dusseldorf - Lappeenranta.
Flight Lappeenranta - Düsseldorf (Weeze) I was shocked by only one thing - the airport in Lappeenranta. Here, for the first time in our lives, we saw a waiting room with four chairs))) Luckily for us, the flight was in the morning and we managed to sit out in the airport canteen (yes, exactly a “canteen”!), because this catering establishment also has a lunch break ! In general, the airport was surprising, but at least you could take bags for packing liquids in your hand luggage for free!
Flight Düsseldorf (Weeze) - Lappeenranta made us laugh a lot, and subsequently recognized ourselves in that video about packing things in the size of carry-on luggage, which I posted recently. Yes, yes, that’s how it happened! Socks rolled into a tube and stuffed into shoes became a hit of the 2009 air season)))
Weeze Airport was also “fun” because According to statistics, for 10 girls there are 9 guys

Today I received a letter from Ryanair offering me a flight to Europe for 19.99 euros. And I thought that this is the very moment when I urgently need to write for you about how to use the website of the Irish airline Ryanair, the largest European low-cost airline, to buy cheap air tickets. At the same time, I’ll share life hacks on how not to ruin your trip when flying with low-cost airlines.
Keeping an eye on airline promotions is one of the automatic must-dos of a solo traveler, like brushing your teeth. If you have an open visa, such mailings are a sure way to buy cheap air tickets at a special price and go on a trip at the lowest cost.
So let's begin. We go to the site ryanair.com and immediately see the search form
By placing the cursor in the first field, we select the departure city: the site, so that we don’t rack our brains, immediately gives us a drop-down list of countries to which the low-cost airline flies. Having chosen the desired country, we see which airports our Ryanair is ready to transfer us to. It is worth remembering here that low-cost airline companies usually choose remote airports.
Don't forget to choose a round trip flight (return) or just one way (one way).
For example, I took a flight from Brussels (Charleroi airport, a town 46 km from the Belgian capital) to Porto. In the fall of 2013, my husband and I already flew this route, and then the ticket price was 19.99. I talk about this in detail in the article. . It was nice to discover that these cheap tickets are still available and in March you can fly to Portugal for mere pennies. Here we see the coveted cheap air tickets
Now, by clicking on the price, we begin to understand what we need to decide on if we want to save:
By choosing a ticket for 19.99, you will be left with hand luggage and will need to check in 4 days before departure on the airline's website. If you choose a ticket for 50.66 euros, you get the right to online check-in 60 days before departure, 20 kg of luggage and 2 bags of hand luggage and reservation of a seat in the cabin. I will explain in more detail in the next step. We select the cheapest tickets and go to this page. Here the airline is trying to squeeze extra euros out of us:
Now let's take a closer look at what all this means, because in 5 years, it turns out, the rules of the game have changed. So, the latest information: the company changed the rules for carrying hand luggage (and did it again).
Baggage rules
UPD. Please note, from August 2018, the concept of hand luggage, which is given to each passenger without additional charges, includes only 1 bag with the dimensions 40 cm x 20 cm x 25 cm. And that's all you can take for free.
Only passengers who have paid the €6/£6 fee for Priority & 2 Cabin Bags (including a Flexi, Flexi Plus or Family Plus ticket) will carry a bag or suitcase of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm as hand luggage. The surcharge for the luxury of carrying a small suitcase in the cabin can rise to £8 if paid after the ticket has been purchased, via Manage My Booking on the website or via the Ryanair app (30 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart). By the way, keep in mind that the additional payment - 6 euros - is only for the outward flight; for the return flight you also need to pay separately.
If you buy a ticket at the most economical fare, then at the booking stage you can check in luggage up to 10 kg, this will cost 8 euros/pounds if purchased at the time of booking. Up to 40 minutes before flight departure, the baggage fee paid via the Ryanair website or app is €/£10. Otherwise, checking your baggage at the airport will lighten your wallet by €20/£, paying at the gate is €25/£.
5 years ago we traveled with backpacks (at that time you could only take one item 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm in hand luggage), that is, without any luggage at all.
Oh, these happy times have sunk into oblivion! This is how the Irish low-cost airline tightens the screws))).It is worth noting that these dimensions are checked very strictly. The company has racks that you can squeeze your luggage into to see if it qualifies. Many had to take out their clothes (they put them on themselves using the cabbage fork technique) to reduce the size of their bags. I think this check is still being carried out.
Now let's figure out what to do if you don't fit into the specified luggage dimensions.
This is where the above mentioned Plus & Flexi Plus plans come in handy.
Plus plans are only available for purchase at the time of booking and cannot be upgraded to Flexi Plus plans at a later stage. All All Plus fares are non-refundable, except as provided in articles 4.2, 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 (see the airline's rules).
Plus tariffs include the following additional benefits:
- One piece of luggage weighing 20 kg
- Reserved standard seat
Actually, if you have a lot of luggage, the problem is solved in this way. It makes sense to fly with a low-cost airline at the prices of this tariff - it’s up to you to decide.
Flexi Plus fares are only available for purchase at the time of booking. Again. You must immediately decide whether you need this fare, even before starting the booking procedure, otherwise you will fly like a Spartan, without your beloved huge suitcase.
In Flexi Plus the following services are included:
- Free check-in at the airport
- Any reserved seat
- Priority passage and 2 pieces of hand luggage
- Flexibility when changing your ticket
Reservation of a place
Further. At the same step, we can get the opportunity to reserve a place for ourselves for 2.5 euros. If you want to be sure that you will sit next to each other, pay. Plus, you get the opportunity to check in online 60 days before departure. If we do not enable this option, we will be able to check in online later - 4 days before departure. This must be done, otherwise you risk paying from 60 to 140 euros for registration at the airport (depending on the season).
Now click the yellow check out button at the top of the page and go to the next step, where you will need to log in via facebook, google+ or go through standard registration, and then fill out the information for the ticket:
This is already familiar to everyone who has ever bought tickets, a page with personal data and payment. We choose how the airport staff will address us: Mr., Miss or Mrs. We fill in the first name, last name, country (EU countries come first, then all others), telephone number, then select the payment method (card or paypal) and postal address.
That's it, click pay. You will receive a booking confirmation by email with a code that will allow you to check in online for your flight.
And now the most important moment. You will need to arrive at the airport with a printed boarding pass (or one downloaded from the mobile app). As a non-EU resident, this boarding pass will need to be stamped at the check-in counter after your visa has been verified. Without this stamp you will not be allowed on board. We observed such a scene already on boarding. The person was simply not allowed onto the plane without a stamp (neither waving a passport with a visa nor begging helped). He had to buy a new plane ticket and sit all night at the airport, waiting for his flight.
That's all, actually. The main rule of using any low-cost airline is to carefully study the airline’s rules, then you will be prepared and will not be among the violators, and your trip will go perfectly. You can buy cheap air tickets from low-cost airlines; this will not ruin your trip at all if the preparation is thorough.
How to check in online for a Ryanair flight and how to print your boarding pass. The instructions include two options from a computer and a mobile phone.
Separate instructions have been written for purchasing tickets.
Low-Cost airlines, which include Ryanair, require passengers to complete online check-in, and in some cases, print out their boarding pass. This is done for cost-saving purposes to speed up the planting process and reduce costs.
If you do not take care of online registration in advance, then at the airport you will have to part with more than the cost of the ticket.
A few important points when checking in for a Ryanair flight:
- Free check-in without seat selection is available from 2 to 48 hours before the flight.
- Registration before 48 is available only to those who have paid for their seats. In this case, check-in for the flight is possible from 20 days before departure.
Check-in for a Ryanair flight
Step 1. Log in to your account
We go to the English (for convenience) version of Ryanair and enter your personal account by clicking on the inscription Log in in the upper right corner. In the window that appears, enter your e-mail and password, and then press the yellow button Login.
Those who do not have a personal account on the Ryanair website can continue to check in for their flight without it. To do this, click Continue as guest or we don’t go into this menu at all. Instead, we look for a link on the site.
If you do not have an account on the Ryanair website, it is better to create one. Even if tickets were purchased without registration. This will make registration easier in the future.
The instructions below assume that you are registered on the site and have filled in your account information.
Step 2. Looking for your flight
Click on the inscription My Bookings at the top of the screen and in the future there are two possible scenarios.
- First— when you purchased tickets from your account.
- Second— when you bought tickets without registration or from someone else’s account.
Option one - When there is registration
If tickets were purchased from this account, then the entire list of flights for which you purchased tickets will appear, as in the picture below. Select the flight for which you want to check in and click below it Check-in.
A list of passengers for whom the ticket was purchased will open in a new window. If someone changed their mind about flying or couldn’t fly, then they don’t need to go through the procedure. Place a checkmark next to the people you need and click Confirm.
Now windows with the data of the passengers selected above will open in order if there is more than one of them. By default, the data is taken from the account you filled out earlier. If the data differs, you can correct it by clicking edit. If the data is correct, then click Continue.
Attention!!! Now there is a glitch on the Ryanair website with saving the validity of the passport; it is not saved. At this point you will have to enter it manually.
Option two - Without registration
If tickets were purchased without registration on the Ryanair website or from another account, then if you have the ticket data, you can add it to this account, and then make further registration. Let's consider this option in order.
If there are no tickets in your account, an empty field will appear. Click the blue inscription Can't find your upcoming trip?.
In the window that appears, after entering your ticket details, click Go and if the data entered is correct, the following window will appear and the ticket will be added to this account, and there is no need to look for it in the future.
A new window displays your ticket details. Click there Check-in and continue checking in for the Ryanair flight. Unfortunately there are no pictures for demonstration.
Since this is a new ticket and there is no passenger data in this account, then as in the previous option, the window with the passenger data, but it will be empty except for the Last Name and First Name. Fill in the passenger details and click Continue.
Step 3. Selecting a seat in the cabin
This window appears as the last chance to choose a seat in the cabin. The service, as always, is paid and if several people are flying, the system will automatically scatter you around the cabin.
Even if the tickets were purchased together, you will still be scattered around the cabin. If you want to fly together, you will have to buy additional seats.
There is a little trick to save money. When you register 2 or more people, make it random for the first time. When registering the remaining ones, you buy seats next to the one the system gave out for the first passenger.
Have you made your choice to pay or not for seats?
- Put a tick Randomly seats if you are greedy or want to take a couple of hours off from your significant other.
- Choose Choose seat if you can’t survive without your companion for a couple of hours and are even willing to pay for it.
- The third option is for those who still doubt how dear his traveling companion is to him. If you select Check-in late, the online registration process will stop.
Regardless of whether greed or love wins, we press on Confirm.
Attention!!! Free random seat selection is only available 48 hours before departure. Those who have purchased seats will be able to register 30 days before the flight.
At the next step, Ryanair still can't believe that you refused to select your seats and/or baggage. You are given one last chance to go broke and buy these options. But we do not give in to temptation and press on Skip to Doarding Passes.
In fact, all these options can be purchased up to 2 hours before departure. So the airline is waiting for your money until its last breath. But where will you then print out an updated boarding pass 2 hours before departure if you need to go through the Visa check procedure?
After the previous window, check-in is completed and a window will appear where you can view your boarding passes and see your seats. Below is an example of a picture where the option “ Random places“, but as you can see, fate brought us together no matter how much I wanted it and we sat, although not together, but next to each other.
Attention!!! Do not be afraid of the scary inscription in a yellow frame that says - If you are not an EU citizen, then you must print out the ticket.
This rule only applies when passing through border control when a visa is being checked.
There is no such check within most EU countries. How to check this you ask???
Download the Ryanair mobile app and if after the online check-in procedure the ticket barcode opens, then you don’t need to print it. Otherwise, the application itself will tell you that you need to print the ticket.
In the previous step, we completed online registration and if you have to go through the procedure Visa check, then the tickets will have to be printed. In any case, it is useful to have a printed version of the ticket, since the smartphone can shrink or slip out of your hands at the very last moment when you are almost bringing it to the ticket reader.
Click View Boardig Pass in the previous window if you want to save a separate ticket. Better press View all Boardig Passes, to open all tickets in one window at once.
All your tickets will open in a new window. All you have to do is click Print (1) in order to print a ticket or Download (2) to save it to your computer. If you press Don e then everything will close.
ATTENTION: You can print your boarding pass in either black and white or color.
Where can I print my boarding pass abroad?
Many people are intimidated by the process of printing abroad, and they buy places, but everything is not as difficult as it seems.
How do I do this with minimal knowledge of English? The phrase Print Fail and a stupid facial expression are enough.
- If you are staying at a hotel, then most likely the Reception will help you print it.
- When renting an apartment, you can puzzle the owner with this question. They either told me where to do it or offered their help. As a result, I received a boarding pass with delivery to the door.
- We open the phone and launch Google Maps. In the search, enter Copy and Print or Copy or Print separately. There is a high probability that there will be a couple of similar establishments not far from you. It almost always turned out that it was possible to print there.
Regarding the last point, the question may arise: “But I don’t have a flash drive?”
- Now all smartphones have a flash drive function. You just need to connect via the charging cable and select “Transfer files” or something similar in the pop-up message. I can’t vouch for iPhoneophiles since I didn’t have the opportunity to try.
- Don't have a cable at hand? You can almost always ask for an e-mail and send the file to them. I also often used this option.
Boarding pass Ryanair
An example of what a Ryanair boarding pass looks like. It will need to be presented at the airport during the procedure. Visa check and/or baggage check-in.
Another way to check whether the procedure is necessary Visa check. If there is no inscription on the yellow stripe in the upper right corner Visa check, which means the procedure is not needed.
Online check-in for Ryanair from your phone
To check-in online for a Ryanair flight from a mobile phone, you must install the appropriate application for Android or iOS. After downloading and installing the application, you need to log into your account and add your ticket if you bought it without registration or from someone else’s account.
A little hint from personal experience. Install the application on several phones if you are not flying alone. It's much more reliable this way. You can log into your account on several phones at once, and check in for a flight on one. The boarding pass appears on all phones at once.
Step 1. Choosing a flight
When you have several tickets in your phone, you need to select the flight for which you will check in.
Step 2. Buy additional luggage and other options
Both through the website and through the mobile application, Ryanair allows you to purchase various options until the last moment.
Now the most relevant option is Priority and 2 Cabin bags since from 11/01/2018 you can only take the smallest bag up to 40x20x25cm into the salon.
Purchasing luggage and other options will not be considered here, so click Check-in in the window that appears and proceed to the next step.
Step 3. Selection of passengers and hand luggage volume
We put a check mark next to the flying passengers if no one has changed their mind about flying, and also put the lowest check mark if you haven’t purchased more Priority and 2 Cabin bags. Those. We agree that we will go on board with only one small bag.
Step 4. Passenger data confirmation
The picture of the next two screens is a little outdated, but the principle remains the same. Here the passenger's data is checked if it was entered earlier or entered again or if it has not been done before.
Example of data entry for the second passenger.
Step 5. Select a location
Here we are again asked to make a difficult choice, namely to fly together or take a break from your travel companion. Depending on the solution we choose Get a random seat or Select seat (select and buy a seat).
Inscription Get a random seat appears only 48 hours before departure.
Step 6. Confirmation of successful registration
If check-in for the flight was successful, then we will see the following window. To go to boarding passes, click View boarding passes.
Step 7. Visa check or free passage on board
In this window, two options for events are possible and, as in all jokes, one is bad and one is good.
If the Visa check procedure is not needed, a window with the ticket barcode will appear. This is your boarding pass on your mobile phone.
ATTENTION: The application does not have a function for saving your boarding pass, so to print the pass you will have to launch a browser on your computer or mobile phone. You can only save or print your boarding pass from your internet browser.
ADDITION for newcomers who bought a Ryanair ticket
This is an important addition to the instructions “Checking in for a Ryanair flight” for those who rely only on Russian at random. Here you will have to pay for it with a large ruble and not even a ruble, but a euro. So please read and follow carefully.
- Online registration is required for each flying passenger. Check-in at the airport at the airline counter is paid 50€ . Except for those who bought a ticket with the option Flexi Plus.
- must be printed for each passenger if it is necessary to undergo a visa verification procedure. Printing at the airport at the check-in counter is paid 15€ .
- By default, at the cheapest fare, luggage other than hand luggage is not included in the ticket price. It is purchased as an option. Buying additional luggage at the airport at the airline counter is much more expensive than online.
- From 01.11.2018, only the smallest bag up to 40x20x25cm can be taken into the salon. A second bag up to 55x40x20cm and weighing up to 10kg now needs to be purchased and checked in as luggage at the check-in counter or buy an option Priority and 2 Cabin bags and bring it into the salon. If you make a mistake, you will have to pay an additional 25 € at the plane's ramp.
- If you are a non-EU citizen, a visa verification process may be required Visa check at the airline check-in counter. But this only applies to flights requiring border control. Even within the European Union there are countries where there are border controls, such as Romania.
