In almost every city there are corners where you can feel a special romantic atmosphere. You can have a good time in them or invite a girl on a date. Some places have become commonplace for wedding photo shoots and marriage proposals. There are many similar places in the capital of Russia, and each has its own interesting history. There is no need to wait until summer, because the most romantic places in Moscow can be found in large numbers in winter.
1. Greenhouse in the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve
When the winter weather is frosty, you can find a place in the capital where strawberries and lilacs are blooming, and lush tropical plants are fragrant. To do this, you need to come to the greenhouse located at the Tsaritsyno estate. Here even in winter it is green like spring, and the air is filled with strawberry and floral aromas. What couple in love would not want to be on such an island of eternal summer?
Unfortunately, the original 18th-century greenhouses have not survived, but they were restored in 2007. Now the Tsaritsyn greenhouse is available to visitors. It consists of two buildings: in one, grapes are grown, and in the other, a real Garden of Eden with exotic plants and incredibly beautiful flowers. The feeling is amazing when, after a walk through the snow-covered alleys of the estate, you find yourself in the soft, warm atmosphere of the greenhouse. Here it is very easy to combine business with pleasure - not only admire unprecedented flowers, but also expand your botanical knowledge.
2. Ice skating rink on Red Square
This is our answer to the New York skating rink near Rockefeller Center, which has long become a favorite meeting place for couples in love. In American films there are many scenes with declarations of love at this skating rink. Now Moscow lovers have an even more tempting opportunity, because Red Square is not some kind of Rockefeller Center! And the atmosphere here is just as upbeat and romantic.
How wonderful it will be on Valentine’s Day, holding hands, sliding along the surface of the ice under the Kremlin walls! Even those who are not very confident in skating will have something to remember after visiting such a skating rink. Tired of active skating, you can go to the cafe open at the skating rink, where it will be so pleasant to drink a cup of hot coffee or chocolate in high spirits.
3. Restaurant Sixsty
The capital's highest observation deck with panoramic glazing is located in the Sixsty restaurant, which climbed to the 62nd floor of the Federation Tower. From here you can see all the skyscrapers of Moscow City, and the entire capital is visible at a glance. In addition to the magnificent view, lovers here can enjoy contemplating the sunset, the feeling of a bird's flight, soaring in the clouds, and in frosty weather the starry sky reveals itself in all its glory.
On Valentine's Day, a surprise awaits all visitors - once an hour, windows on one of the glass walls open to the sound of solemn music. Then those who wish can come up to this improvised balcony, look at Moscow from there and feel its breath. Prices in the restaurant are less romantic than the view from the window - lunch for two here will cost an average of 3-5 thousand rubles.
Many people like to watch horror films before going to bed, but the impressions will be much sharper if such fans go to places that are almost ready...
4. Patriarch's Ponds
This place of ancient Moscow is perfect for romantic walks, but now the spirit of a European city with numerous cafes reigns here. On the corner there is an American confectionery “I Love Cake”, which offers good breakfasts and delicate desserts. Malaya Bronnaya invites baking lovers to visit Khleb & Co. You can enjoy your time here even in winter. Old Moscow has many winding streets and alleys, and Patriarch's Ponds can be called its pearl.
In winter, another attraction appears here for walkers - an ice skating rink on the surface of the pond. And although the ice here is not perfect, the skating itself seems more romantic. The surrounding trees are decorated with illuminated lights, each house is imbued with history and delights with unique architecture.
5. “Apothecary Garden” of the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University
On the map of snowy winter Moscow, this place is another green spot. Of course, the garden freezes in the winter, the tree branches are covered with frost, the pond is encased in an ice shell, but even in this state the garden does not lose its beauty and a touch of romance. Local birds become almost tame in winter - they can be easily fed. But the real summer continues in the greenhouses, because many of their inhabitants begin to bloom in winter.
The Exotic Winter festivals are held here every year. Thus, one of the festivals was dedicated to a variety of representatives of the plant kingdom: those living under water and in the desert, entire landscapes were made from them. In the “Palm Greenhouse” you can see rare orchids, which for a long time were carefully preserved by garden workers from too curious eyes. Of course, such exotic plants will not leave a resident of the middle zone indifferent, so why not go there with your other half on Valentine’s Day?
We have all long been accustomed to treating Russian roads with a fair amount of skepticism, and, to tell the truth, there is every reason for this. But it's not worth it...
6. Walks along the Moscow River
How romantic a walk along the Moscow River on a luxury steamship owned by the Radisson company can be. On board there is a restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and panoramic windows. The most romantic holiday of winter is St. Day. Valentine is treated in a special way here. This snow-white ship sets off on a special voyage from the pier near the Ukraine Hotel. For lovers on board, a candlelight dinner has been prepared and a romantic atmosphere has been created: snow-white tablecloths on the tables, candelabra with candles, romantic melodies performed live on the piano and saxophone. Italian chef Lorenzo Strappato will prepare a wonderful dinner, including desserts and appetizers - all included in the ticket price. During the voyage there will be a lottery with nice prizes for guests. And someone will be lucky enough to win a night in a room for two at the Radison Royal Hotel.
7. Moscow Planetarium
In winter, stars are rare guests in the Moscow sky, but to admire them, you don’t have to wait long for suitable weather - you can just go to the planetarium with your loved one. The diverse exhibition of the Moscow Planetarium is constantly updated. He even developed romantic programs for Valentine's Day. By visiting it, you can consolidate a newly established relationship or time it to coincide with the Nth anniversary of their continuation. Under the stars of the planetarium, romantic music, love stories, elegant poetry will sound, all this will be framed by magnificent paintings. Such an evening cannot but be remembered for a long time; it will make the bonds of love even closer.
8. Vorobyovy Gory
The famous observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory not only pleases the eye with a beautiful overview of the capital, but also seems to encourage an ardent young man in love to read poetry and sing for his incomparable lady. He can lay the entire city, or at least its panorama, at her feet. There are people who call themselves specialists in geopathogenic zones, and so they recognize the Sparrow Hills as an excellent place to convey to their interlocutor or instill in him their thoughts and feelings - isn’t this important when declaring love?
Kazan is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities on the Volga. The capital of the current multinational Tatarstan combines Western technologies...
9. Luzhkov Bridge
It is also called the “bridge of love”, since it has long been customary to make a stop here during the movement of wedding processions. This bridge is located on the way from Bolotnaya Square to Kadashevskaya Embankment, and the fountains are clearly visible from it. It is believed that the Luzhkov Bridge got its name because of Tsaritsyno Meadow - the area where Bolotnaya Square is now located. In 2007, the capital’s first “tree of love” appeared on it - a metal frame on which couples in love leave their locks, which are designed to strengthen the bonds of love.
Every year the number of such “trees” grows - many people liked the simple tradition. Near the bridge on the other side of Bolotnaya Embankment there is a “Bench of Reconciliation”. According to urban legend, if you sit on it for some time after a quarrel, peace will surely come. The bench is deliberately made very close so that those sitting will certainly touch each other. And really, is it possible to be offended by your loved one for a long time while sitting in an embrace with him? After a walk along the Luzhkov Bridge, it’s a good idea to take a look at the nearby Tretyakov Gallery.
10. Neskuchny Garden
Previously, there was a park of the Neskuchnoye estate, but now lovers coo here. There are many secluded paths in Neskuchny Garden. Here you can also ride bicycles, play tennis, and visit the local museum. The Alley of Love is especially interesting, walking along which you will certainly come to a clock whose hands are frozen at the time 17-55. This is a kind of sculptural allegory to Griboyedov’s phrase about lovers who do not notice the clock. From the former estate of Count Orlov, a stone bridge has been preserved here, with which one romantic legend is associated, which says that a couple of lovers need to hold hands, make a cherished wish and then walk across this bridge - and it will certainly come true. And to live your whole life in love, you need to kiss in the middle of the bridge.
You can choose the classic route for your romantic excursion around Moscow. In this case, you will visit Manezhnaya Square, walk along the Alexander Garden and Okhotny Ryad, stand on the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, enjoy the view of Sofiyskaya Embankment and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and the Patriarchal Bridge will help end your walk with a touch of mysticism. You can create an easier, but no less interesting route, consisting of Sparrow Hills, Novodevichy Convent and Poklonnaya Hill.
In autumn the ocher parks are very beautiful, in summer walks on the water are attractive, in winter it is better to take romantic walks around historical estates, exhibitions and museums. Start your journey from the Sofia Embankment, in particular from the Big Stone Bridge. This is the first of the solid bridges across Moscow; it was revered by tourists along with the Tsar Bell and the Tsar Cannon. From here you will see the Kremlin in all its glory.
Just a few steps from the bridge is Bolotnaya Square - a great place for romantics. At the entrance to the park you can relax by a large fountain with cast gratings and columns. Hugging each other, it’s good to watch the play of the fountains in the Vodootvodny Canal. At night the spectacle is fantastically beautiful, as the multi-colored lights turn on.
From here it’s time to go to the Luzhkov Bridge to the Tree of Love. This bridge connects Kadashevskaya embankment and Bolotnaya Square. The Tree of Love appeared here in 2007, a metal sculpture created especially for lovers. You can hang your lock on the plant, especially since the Moscow authorities have added two more trees to the first.
Be sure to sit on the unique bench for those who have quarreled; it is impossible to sit on it without clinging to your loved one. Along picturesque narrow streets you will reach the Muzeon on the Crimean embankment. This outdoor sculpture park is located next to the Artist's House. Romantics love to walk around the museum, the exhibits of which are very photogenic, and small charming ponds with openwork bridges just beg to be painted on canvas.
The excursion route ends at Gorky Culture Park, which you will reach after crossing the river. In winter you can go ice skating here, and in summer you can feed the ducks. The skating rink, by the way, turns out to be the largest in Russia, because the Pionersky Pond and park paths are flooded.
