In Tong Nai Pan Noi and surrounding areas. Beaches of Koh Phangan. Our reviews and brief description of the east coast of Thong Nai Pan Noi
Despite the fact that we have spent a total of several months on Koh Phangan over the past 4 years, we have only been to the east coast a few times.
Due to its distance from the main infrastructure, this part of the island is more popular with those who come on vacation for a few days than with long-stayers, but from the point of view of a beach holiday it is simply a wonderful area!
There are a couple of wonderful, calm and very picturesque beaches, the sea is clear, with a beautiful turquoise color, which is ideal for both children and adults.
It is here, on Thong Nai Pan Noi beach, that the Panviman Hotel is located,
where we stayed for several days.
You can view all room variations at Panviman Resort, as well as current prices here.
1. Stunning location in terms of uniqueness of nature.
2. Breakfasts with an excellent view.
3. Rooms with sea and sunrise views.
4. Jacuzzi in the rooms.
5. Large infinity pool with picturesque views.
6. Excellent beach, good for swimming. There are villas right on the beach, 2 meters from the sun loungers.
7. Natural viewing platforms right on the hotel grounds.
Our room/villa
We stayed in the Deluxe Jacuzzi Grand room - a large two-story cottage.
There are two identical rooms in this building, with separate entrances from different sides, but we have never seen or heard our neighbors.
When we entered the room, from the first minutes it seemed very spacious to us, and we did not even immediately notice that the door to the bathroom and toilet were not visible.
And only when we looked around, we realized that there was another floor here, where there was a shower, sink, and toilet.
and a spacious hot tub.
The upper room consists of two levels. On a slight elevation there is a huge king size bed - it is so wide that lying on it at the edges, it is impossible to reach each other))
And a couple of steps below there is a soft corner (sofa with armchairs) and a table, and a TV on top.
Another point that we were very pleased with was the huge amount of work space, two whole tables, each of which could easily fit 3-4 people.
However, one of them can be used for tea and fruit purposes :)
As for the interior design, it is at its best here, everything looks very solid and stylish,
and besides, all sorts of pleasant decorations pleasantly delight,
like flowers on the bed and beautifully folded towels =)
But what we liked most about the room was probably the amazing view!
We actually had our own personal observation deck on the terrace,
from which you can admire the azure sea during the day,
and in the morning enjoy the gorgeous sunrises.
In the evening, by the way, the villa is especially beautiful - there is very pleasant lighting inside,
and the area becomes quite atmospheric.
Restaurant
The hotel has several restaurants, we had breakfast at Pan Sea Restaurant
This is a very pleasant place with incredible panoramic views of two beaches at once. The tables in the restaurant are like on the terrace,
and indoors, under fans.
We would love to sit outside, but in the morning the sun shines from the east, so it's too hot there.
The breakfast selection is impressive and quite varied –
a lot of different baked goods,
fruits and yoghurts,
a variety of hot dishes,
and it is also possible to order eggs cooked in various ways,
ranging from simple boiled ones to the signature fried pan - scrambled eggs with bacon, ham and sausages, served in a hot frying pan.
Another restaurant (Pool Desk Bar) is located near the pool, serves European cuisine and is open for lunch.
Its terrace overlooks Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach and the bay, which looks absolutely incredible at lunchtime!
There is also a restaurant on the beach, during the day you can order something from Thai cuisine, and in the evening tables are set up on the sand and a barbecue dinner is prepared.
Territory and pool
The hotel is located on a hilly green headland between two beaches,
The area here is very cozy and picturesque - there are pleasant decorative paths with statues.
and even their own small temple, where hotel employees bring offerings. Since the hotel area is very hilly, and in order to get, for example, from the restaurant to the villa you need to overcome a steep climb, “tuk-tuks” - cars that transport guests - ply around the territory.
The hotel has 3 cascading swimming pools combined into a single system - two very small ones
and one bigger one.
The pools are located in a good location, so the view from them is very spectacular -
palm trees, hills, beach, bay with azure sea, in general - a heavenly picture =)
There are quite a few sun loungers near the pool; when we arrived, there were always empty seats, so there were no problems with where to sit.
There is a small farm at the hotel where they grow organic vegetables - I hope they serve them for breakfast)
Another nice feature of the hotel is the wooden walkways laid over the stones around the cape,
They are very nice to walk along, especially in the morning or evening when it is not too hot outside.
There is also a hotel spa complex located here.
Its distinctive feature is its individual spa villas, overlooking the sea, so you can enjoy not only the procedure, but also the view.
There are several pretty cool observation platforms located on the hotel grounds. Apparently, they were here even before the hotel was founded, and now they are quite easy to get to, there are signs everywhere. One of them overlooks Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach,
and if you walk literally a hundred meters, you can already see Tong Nai Pan Yai
The distance to the viewpoints is not very large, the paths are well equipped, so you can do a light workout before breakfast.
Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach
Panviman Resort is located on Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach.
Here, partly on a stone pedestal, and partly right on the beach, several dozen sun loungers are installed.
The beach itself is quite picturesque -
not very long (about 500 meters), wide, with a gentle entrance into the water.
In general, from the point of view of a beach holiday, in our opinion, this is one of the best places on the island.
The sea is most often calm, beautiful,
There is a small coral reef not far from the shore, so you can swim and snorkel.
And, of course, palm trees and an eternal blue sky complete the picture of a tropical paradise =)
Summary
Panviman Resort Hotel is an excellent choice for those who not only love good service and convenience, but also appreciate beauty. Comfortable villas on a hill, with stunning panoramic views of the bay, are unlikely to leave anyone indifferent, and the opportunity to enjoy an incredible view not only from the room, but also from the restaurants and pool only adds to the advantages of the hotel.

We were there for only a few hours, but I liked it so much that as soon as we left for the neighboring equally beautiful beach, I immediately wanted to go back :)
And I walked along this beach with a camera for almost an hour, I couldn’t stop taking pictures :)
Why did I like this beach so much, and why, in my opinion, is it one of the best beaches on Koh Phangan?
1) Pure transparent water and amazing color combinations.
2) The gentle entrance to the sea is ideal for children.
3) Small waves, at least there were on the day of our trip to this beach. But if you go to the right (if you look at the sea) part of the beach, closer to the rocks, then there are almost no waves there.
4) Nice picturesque boulders on the right side of the beach when looking at the sea.
5) There are really very few people on the beach, it seems to me that if you come there out of season, you can be there in almost splendid isolation :)
6) There are many fewer boats on the beach than on the neighboring beach.
Disadvantages of the beach.
1) They don’t show sunsets here :) But they show sunrises, but that’s not relevant to me yet :)
2) There are practically no budget hotels here. On booking.com. There is only 1 such hotel. And the reviews on it are quite contradictory.
3) This beach is not easy to get to, especially on bikes that are so popular in Thailand, but this is rather a plus, since as a result there are few people there :)
Well, as a small summary of the above - a short video from this beach
How to get to Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach?
The beach is located in the northeast of the island, in a neighboring bay with Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach. As I already wrote in the article about the neighboring twin beach, it is better to go to this beach by car, or ask your hotel to organize a transfer for you (that is, meet you and take you to the place).
But when the road is finally completed, it will be quite possible to ride a bike. From Thong Sala Pier, the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. You can even get to this beach by sea. It is also very easy to get from Thong Nai Pan Yai to Thong Nai Pan Noi - the distance there is about 1.5 km. Since we were with a baby and without a stroller, we took a taxi (for 100 baht), otherwise we would have walked :) The length of the beach is about 1 km.
Tong Nai Pan is the common name for two nearby beaches. One is called Thong Nai Pan Noi, another Thong Nai Pan Yai.
general information
The beaches of Thong Nai Pan are located in the northeastern part of the island. Most tourists prefer to settle closer to the main life of the island (south) or in other parts of the island (west).
On the beach Tong Nai Pan Noah There are expensive hotels. Beach Tong Nai Pan Yay simpler hotels were occupied. But in both of these places prices tend to be higher than in other parts of the island. Both beaches are nearby, but not within walking distance.
How to get to the beaches of Thong Nai Pan
We will assume that you have a scooter or a car. Previously, getting here was not easy. There is only one road leading here, which was in very poor condition. And the journey here was long and difficult. When I got here, the road was good, and only some parts of it were problematic due to the fact that repair work was going on or a small part of it was not paved. And the later you go to the beaches, the easier it will be, because the road is improving every year.
To get to the beaches, no matter how trite it sounds, you need to go towards these beaches. There is only one road and if you follow the map, it is simply impossible to get lost. There are signs along the way to the main road leading to the beaches. And then a multi-kilometer road begins, which at the end of the road will lead you to one of the beaches of Thong Nai Pan.
My impressions
During the off-season on the island, the beaches of Thong Nai Pan are the only ones of their kind where you can swim properly. Here the water also recedes from the shore, but not as much as on other beaches.
I liked the beach better Tong Nai Pan Noah . Somehow it felt more comfortable and nicer here. On the beach Tong Nai Pan Yay There are many fishing boats near the shore, which in my opinion spoiled the idyll of a good beach.
Photos of Thong Nai Pan beaches
Much of the route is very picturesque. Lots of well paved roads. I had a lot of fun getting here.
Together with the surrounding nature, the road is simply incredibly beautiful.
Thais passing by
Some areas along the road resemble nature from dinosaur movies.

Thailand has long conquered the whole world with its exotic nature, sandy beaches and enchanting carnivals. Called Siam in the past, Thailand had the status of a colony for a long time, but despite the lack of independence, this country managed to preserve its original beauty and culture. One of the most famous local holiday destinations among tourists is Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach on the island of Koh Phangan, which is located in the Gulf of Thailand.
History of origin
Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach is located in the eastern part of the island near the village of Ban Tai. Together with the neighboring beach of Thong Nai Pan Yai, they form twin bays. The beaches are separated by a high cliff, on top of which there is the most expensive hotel - Panviman Resort. In early 2008, the road to the beach led through impenetrable jungle, occasionally covered with dirt stones. Currently, construction work is underway to develop the transport system. Another possible way to get to Thong Nai Pan Noi is to take a boat from the shores of other beaches.
Architecture
The territory of Pan Nai Pan Noi beach is represented by a spacious snow-white beach with clear, clear water. The coastline is surrounded by beautiful lagoons, surrounded by mountains and dense tropical forest. You can swim on the beach all year round, it is deeper and there are no coral reefs. The view of the rising sun in this area is especially beautiful. The neighboring village is a traditional Thai settlement. There are huts with thatched roofs. In local bars and restaurants, which are located right in the open air, you can taste fruit juices and cocktails, as well as get acquainted with exotic cuisine.
Neighborhood
Travelers are invited to relax at the Panviman luxury hotel. There is a water park with pools and slides, as well as an observation deck, from the height of which a beautiful view of the Gulf of Thailand opens. Restaurants and cafes are comfortably located on the hotel premises. The menu offered to hotel guests is distinguished by a special variety of delicious dishes of European and Asian cuisine. For those who prefer to relax in silence, it is worth visiting the nearby Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach. There are no settlements or traders here, only white sand and azure water. In this deserted area you can meet giant lizards - Takuad, as well as real wild cats, often crossing the road. In the evening, only a few bars offer music, local shops close quite early, so nightlife lovers should visit the Fool Moon Party, which is held on Haad Rin Beach. More than ten thousand vacationers gather here who want to dance to the tunes of folk and modern music, as well as taste exotic cocktails.
Note to tourists
You can get to Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach from Thong Sala port by Sorengo minibus within 40 minutes.
During the season, you can swim from the center of Maenam Beach to Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach. This journey takes about 2 hours.
Beaches of Koh Phangan on its eastern side there is a series of small local beaches. Their main feature is privacy and isolation, and as a result, relative inaccessibility. Some can only be reached by water or by hiking through the jungle and mountains. Although now the road situation is changing for the better.
If you decide to settle on this side of the island of Koh Phangan, we advise you to first find out how things are with the transport issue at the moment, how accessible and in what way the hotel you are going to is accessible. To quickly and easily find the best hotel deals, we recommend using metasearch engine Hotellook .
The eastern beaches of Koh Phangan are natural beauty, silence and a great place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It’s also nice that you can always swim and swim here. But, keep in mind the following:
- The beaches of Haad Rin Nok and Haad Khonti are easily accessible and you can get to them without any problems, but getting to some others can be problematic.
- Sometimes there can be decent waves here. Remember, there is no drowning rescue service here!
- If you like to travel with non-cash money, then check in advance for the availability of ATMs, they may not be there!
- You are unlikely to need a snorkel, mask and fins. We can say that there is no snorkeling on all the beaches on this side.
So, let's start moving along the beaches of Koh Phangan, along the east coast, from bottom to top (from south to north).
Haad Rin Nok and Haad Khontee are wide, very beautiful beaches, with white, clean sand and excellent swimming opportunities. You can always easily reach these two beaches along the southern road of the island. For accommodation there are both inexpensive bungalows and very expensive ones.
Perhaps the main thing you need to know about this place is that during the Full Moon party it is very noisy and crowded here, and there may not be room in hotels of all price categories. Consider this fact when deciding to live in this area. Well, let us note that you will not find silence and solitude here at any time. The main contingent is young people, as a result there is always nightlife. If this is important and necessary for you, then this is the place for you.
Haad Yuan Beach
Haad Yuan is a wonderful beach for a quiet holiday. You can only get here by water or on foot through the forest (1.5-2 hours). In advertising brochures, one of the enticements is the opportunity to quickly and easily get from silence and relaxation to the cheerful Haad Rin with all its delights. This is true, but keep in mind that the cost of this pleasure is at least 200 baht per person one way. In addition, you will have to pay very generously for silence and privacy with the high cost of food, because... You understand that you can only buy anything here in the hotel restaurant and cafe. Another nuance - electricity is supplied from a generator and by the clock, at least this was the case a year ago (find out how it works now) There is always plenty of water.
Haad Tienvost Beach
Haad Thianeast is the next small and isolated beach. Peace and quiet. The sand on the beach is quite coarse, and the natural splendor, for our taste, is broken by the beach sun loungers, which fill almost the entire small space. Housing can be found from 100 – 1500 baht. There are three resorts. One of them, like the beach itself, is positioned as a super cool Yoga center. We found this statement very dubious. In any case, if for you yoga is not a fashionable option for fitness, but a philosophy, then this is probably not the place for you. Transport and food are the same as on the previous beach. But the boat is already more expensive - from 300 baht.
Haad Nam Beach
Had Wai Nam is a very small and secluded beach. To get there by water from Haad Rin costs 300 baht. This is where it's quiet. There is only one resort on the beach. The cost of living in a bungalow is from 450 baht. The light from the gas generator turns on when the owners wake up, and turns off accordingly when they go to bed. They say yoga classes are also held here. We can’t say what kind of yoga it is and to what extent, but if you want to live in isolation from civilization, with the opportunity to independently meditate on the ocean, sunrise, rocks, or just a palm tree, this is the place for you.
Haad Yao Beach
The eastern Haad Yao beach (not to be confused with the western!) is a place for Robinsons. There are two resorts with wooden bungalows on the beach. From this beach, taking a walk (10-15 minutes) through Cape Laem Nokrong, you can get to the uninhabited (we hope this is still the case) Haad Yang beach. Wonderful place. It is located in a coconut grove, and its sandy shore ends on both sides with picturesque cliffs. There is a small stream with clean fresh water. Oh, I wish I could live there with a tent!
Yes, you can read about a possible option for traveling around Thailand with a tent in our article Kayak trip around the islands of Thailand
Haad Sadet Beach
You can get to it by water or by road to Thong Nai Pan Noi. The sandy beach surrounded by greenery of palm trees and tropical vegetation is very beautiful and picturesque. Fortunately, several of its resorts are organically integrated into the surrounding beauty and do not spoil it. It would be like this everywhere. You won’t find nightlife or any attractions here, but you can take interesting walks, for example to the waterfalls of the Khlong Thaan Sadet River, which flows into the sea here, admire nature to your heart’s content, and even go fishing. In addition, if you wish and have some skill, you can walk along the shore along the rocks and stones, but be careful.
Personally, we really liked the inexpensive hotel here called Mai Pen Rai Bungalows. His bungalows on the rocks above the sea look very picturesque and romantic. And what types of them! By the way, this is just a gorgeous beach for a honeymoon. But this is so, in general, and a detailed story about this beach and our personal impressions of it -.
Be careful, there are no ATMs with cellular connections; difficulties are observed)
Nai Pan Yai Beach and Thong Nai Pan Noi
Thong Nai Pan Yai and Thong Nai Pan Noi are the northernmost beaches on the east coast of Koh Phangan. Nowadays, you can get to them quickly and easily along an excellent quality road.
The beaches are very large and populated. Many hotels, ranging from inexpensive bungalows to very expensive hotels with their own enclosed areas, multi-level swimming pools, artificial waterfalls and more. You can swim here at any time without any problems, there is always plenty of water. There is no snorkeling, just like on this entire coast of Koh Phangan.
There is some nightlife. You can eat in numerous cafes and restaurants from hotels, as well as in local ones. The presence of makashnitsa was also noticed, although not much. There are fruits. In general, the situation with food and products is tolerable, but in our opinion, it is significantly more expensive here than in Tong Sala.
Those who are looking for silence, harmony and beautiful nature on the seashore probably shouldn’t come here. But I think that these beaches of Koh Phangan will deservedly appeal to lovers of classic beach holidays and swimming. There is everything for this - warm sea, white sand on wide beaches, hot sun, fairly developed tourist infrastructure and good service. In terms of comfort, they resemble beaches west coast, and in terms of the level of development of local infrastructure they are close to southern beaches of the island
General review of the eastern beaches of Koh Phangan
The eastern beaches of Koh Phangan will satisfy lovers of all kinds of recreation:
- Fans of drive, fun nightlife and discos will love the beaches in the Haad Rin area
- Fans of a civilized beach holiday and comfort should take a closer look at the beaches in the north of the east coast.
- Well, those who like a quiet and relaxing holiday with a minimal presence of civilization can find it in the central part of this coast
In conclusion, let us again note one common feature that is inherent in all these beaches, which are so different from each other, and is not typical for the other three coasts of the island of Koh Phangan - you can swim on the eastern beaches at any time and in any season, there is always plenty of water.
Well, you can find out what is good about the beaches of Koh Phangan in its northern part by reading the post Northern beaches of Koh Phangan.
