Beach resorts of Georgia on the Black Sea. Family holidays in Georgia Holidays in Georgia in June with a child
Georgia is a song. Polyphonic, like an echo in the mountains, a folk song; lyrical tune “Suliko”; pathetic “Tbiliso”; full of everyday philosophy “Chito gvrito”; daring "Taya-taya". This is a song about harsh mountains and sunny valleys, about soft shoti, rich khash and fragrant “Kindzmarauli”, about freedom, about hospitality and about a ardent, even assertive love for life.
There are no songs yet about the tourism opportunities of this country, so it’s in prose: Vogue magazine named Georgia one of the most popular tourist destinations of 2017. But family vacations in Georgia became popular much earlier, and are only gaining popularity from year to year. Because is there any other place in the world where they believe that guests are sent by God?
In our article you will read why this country attracts travelers so much. In the meantime, take my word for it: holidaying with children in Georgia is a unique experience.
Where is Georgia
Georgia (official name Sakartvelo) is a state in the western part of Transcaucasia. In the north it borders with Russia, in the south with Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The western coast is washed by the Black Sea. The area of Georgia is 69.7 square meters. km, population - 3.718 million people. The capital and largest city of the country is Tbilisi. A tourist trip to Georgia does not require a visa, however, for citizens of a number of countries, the period of visa-free stay is limited to 90 days.
Vacation with children
People come to Georgia with children to sunbathe on the seashore. They come - and their hearts warm, meeting the willingness of local residents to help with advice, treat them to the most delicious khachapuri in the world and put them up in the best apartments (you need to be careful with this).
The country's tourism infrastructure is indeed largely supported by the hospitality of the locals. Everyone here rents out houses, apartments and rooms.
To relax comfortably with your child, it is better to stay in a good hotel - there are more and more of them, however, they are only available in large resorts.
There are no specialized family hotels in Georgia yet. But if you are planning to come here with an infant, there will be a crib waiting for you in your room. The list of services for children is gradually expanding: hotels are equipping playrooms, offering nanny assistance, and creating a children's menu.
Holidays in Georgia are not only about the sea. A sample travel plan might look like this:
- See the mountains.
- Drink real Georgian Borjomi mineral water.
- Try the main dishes of Georgian cuisine and try to decide which is tastier.
- Learn the patterned Georgian alphabet to read bus schedules and signs on country roads.
- Understand why Georgians love to sing so much.
What's good about Georgia for children? Let's answer briefly: everything. Bright sun, warm sea, fresh fruits, delicious churchkhela, healthy matsoni - this is how you need to get healthy. High mountains, wild forests, noisy waterfalls - this is what can surprise you. Children's playgrounds, unusual museums, amusement parks - this is where you can have fun. Be surprised and have fun!
When is the best time to go?
There is no time of year when Georgia is not good. But since tourists have special goals - most often to sunbathe and go on excursions, the best time for a trip is considered to be late spring, summer and the first half of autumn.
The swimming season in Georgia opens in mid-June and lasts at least until the end of September. But the beach season starts earlier: already in May you can sunbathe on the Black Sea coast. It is good to come to Georgia with a baby in May, before the heat sets in.
A vacation with a child at sea should be planned for May-June or September. During these months, you will not be bothered by the heat, the sea will be clean, and the beaches will be sparsely populated.
This is also the best time for city excursions. In summer the air heats up to +40° C, but warm days in spring or autumn are excellent conditions for walking around old Tbilisi.
But in the mountain resorts there is no heat. Here you can relax at a time when unbearable heat sets in on the coast. If you are going to the sea in July-August, then plan a tour of the mountains to enjoy the cool weather.
Among other things, the warm season is the time for fresh fruit. Already in May, strawberries are harvested in Georgia, in June - cherries and apricots, in July - peaches, melons, watermelons, in August - figs, pears, apples. In September, the time of the famous Kakheti grapes begins, and in October the first pomegranates and persimmons appear on the markets.
When is the best time to go to Georgia to improve your health at balneotherapeutic resorts? Usually, Wellness centers are open all year round, although they have fewer visitors in winter.
Weather and climate
The climate of Georgia is heterogeneous. The western part of the country is an area of humid subtropics, where in summer the air temperature rises to +30-35° C, and in winter does not fall below +2-4° C. In the central regions, located at an altitude of 500-800 meters above sea level, summer The heat is somewhat milder, and in winter there are slight frosts.
Eastern Georgia is characterized by low air humidity, record hot summers (temperatures can reach +40°C) and mild winters. Well, the high mountainous areas do not experience heat at all, but the winter there is frosty and snowy. In mountains with a height of 3-5 thousand meters, snow lies constantly.
The holiday season in Georgia is considered to be the period from May to September-October. At this time, you can sunbathe by the sea, relax at mountain balneological resorts, and go on excursions. But you can also plan a vacation in Georgia for the winter months, when ski centers in the north of the country operate.
The opening of the season at the seaside resorts of Western Georgia occurs in May, when the air temperature rises to +19-20° C. In June, the air warms up to +23-24° C, and in July-August the average temperature is +26° C - at the same time daily readings often exceed +30° C.
In September, all conditions are created for the best holiday in Georgia with children: the air temperature drops to +24-25°C, and the sea remains very warm. Often the beach season continues into October, although the air usually cools down to +20° C by mid-autumn.
A peculiarity of the western regions of Georgia is frequent rains. The least precipitation falls in May.
The weather in Eastern Georgia, including Tbilisi, is not much different - but the humidity here is noticeably lower, and therefore the heat is easier to bear. But still, July-August, when the temperature can stay at +35-40° C for a long time, cannot be called a good time for city excursions. The rainiest time in Tbilisi is May-June. In September-October it rains very rarely.
In mountainous areas it is much cooler in summer. In the hottest months, daytime temperatures barely reach +25° C. In late spring and early autumn, thermometers show + 19-20° C.
Georgia is characterized by a significant temperature difference during the day. In spring and autumn, the night air temperature can be only +13-15°C, in summer +17-20°C.
The season at ski resorts begins at the end of November, when the daytime air temperature drops to -1-2° C. In January-February, frosts can reach -6-7° C.
The ski season lasts until the end of March, when the thermometers begin to rise above zero. In winter, there is frequent snowfall in the mountains, while the days are sunny and windless.
Sea water temperature
You can sunbathe in Georgia as early as mid-May. But the swimming season begins only in June: at the end of spring, the sea temperature reaches only +17-19° C, but in the first month of summer the water warms up to +22-23° C. In July-August, the water temperature in Georgia rises to +24 -25° C, and if the weather is hot for a long time, the sea heats up to +27-28° C.
The water temperature in September depends on the weather. If September is hot, then until the end of the month the sea will maintain a temperature of +25° C. If there is no abnormal heat, then by the end of September the water will cool down to +22° C.
It happens that in October the sea remains very warm. But, as a rule, the water temperature gradually drops and by November is only +18-19° C.
Nutrition
Georgian cuisine is praised - and it still deserves praise. But, when going to Georgia with a child, it is worth remembering that food in this country is generously salted and seasoned with spices.
It won’t necessarily be spicy, but new dishes should still be offered to your child with caution. Don’t be afraid that your child will go hungry: restaurants always have the usual side dishes, and they won’t refuse to prepare food for your baby without spices.
What a child will definitely like are the pies: khachapuri - either in Adjarian style, at least in Etin style, even in Mingrelian style, achma, kubdari with meat filling and lobiani - with beans. The child will not refuse traditional Georgian desserts: kozinaki, churchkhela and pelamushi (this dish can be called a semi-finished churchkhela).
As in many countries, in Georgia it is worth choosing the restaurant where the locals gather. We also recommend reading reviews from vacationers. It should be warned that smoking is allowed in Georgian restaurants, although a smoking ban law is expected to be adopted.
Not every child is ready to try new dishes, and in this case, hotel restaurants can be a good help. As a rule, they offer European cuisine, often served as a buffet.
However, we note that the all-inclusive system is not used in Georgia. A special children's menu is also a pleasant exception rather than the rule.
If you are planning an independent holiday in Georgia with children and want to cook familiar food, it is better to settle in large cities where there are supermarkets and markets. The quality of products in supermarkets is quite high, and markets sell vegetables and fruits grown in Georgia, local cheeses, fresh meat and fish.
Baby food is sold mainly in pharmacies, sometimes in large supermarkets. The choice is not very large: several well-known manufacturers and Georgian products. If your child is accustomed to a certain type of food, we recommend bringing formula, porridge or puree with you.
Treatment
Georgia's resort potential is impressive. During the Soviet period, there were a lot of sanatoriums here, using all the natural resources of the region: warm sunny climate, mountain air, magnetite sands, thermal waters. The sanatorium facilities are gradually being restored, so far mainly in the form of health centers at hotels.
Treatment programs in hotels are designed only for adults, but sun, air and water - the main healing factors - are available to everyone, regardless of age.
Wellness centers operate in Borjomi, as well as in the neighboring resorts of Likani and Nunisi - they produce water as healing as the famous Borjomi.
Abastumani, Surami, Sairme, Nabeglavi, Zvare, Tskaltubo are famous for their thermal springs. And how can we not mention the sulfur springs of Tbilisi, which envelop the city with a specific aroma?
Transport
When traveling around Georgia, you can safely rely on public transport. The most convenient way to travel between large cities is by train; between small towns and villages - by bus or minibus; within the city limits you can use a taxi.
Buses are the most common and cheapest form of public transport in Georgia. A ticket from Tbilisi to Batumi, for example, will cost 20-25 lari, depending on the carrier.
It costs about the same to travel by minibus. You can get from Batumi to Kobuleti for 5 GEL. Timetables are available at bus stations in large cities, and in small resorts they can be found at tourist information centers.
A train ticket will not cost much more. So, a ticket for the Tbilisi - Batumi express train costs 25 lari. If you are traveling with a child under 10 years old, then traveling by train will be even more profitable, since children under 5 years old have the right to travel free of charge, and tickets for children from 5 to 10 years old are sold at a reduced rate. There are no discounts for children on buses.
The most expensive form of transport in Georgia is a taxi. The road from Tbilisi to Batumi by taxi will cost 240-270 lari. The cars are not equipped with a meter, so you need to discuss the cost of the trip with the driver in advance.
Within the city, taxi rides are relatively inexpensive. So, you can get to the desired hotel or museum in Tbilisi for 3-6 lari. Urban transport is only available in large cities. A ride there costs 0.40-0.50 GEL.
If you are going to travel a lot, it is convenient to use a car to get around Georgia. Car rental companies have offices at airports and major resorts.
Yes, the children rushed around the airport until the flight itself, and that was until 12 at night. But! There were no whims of children or complaints from others.
But as soon as the plane began to gain altitude, their eyelids closed instantly under the weight of gravity. And they didn’t open until the very arrival.
I think flying during the day for three hours with a child in the same seat would be more difficult.
Upon arrival, the children woke up and looked around without tears (and this was at three in the morning).
At the airport we were let through without a queue, and the border guard himself came up to us and, in difficult-to-understand Russian, offered to go through passport control first.

We need to give an explanation of the place where we rested
I searched the entire Internet, listened and read a lot of reviews, and as a result, I chose my vacation spot - the village of Grigoleti - intuitively.
I called the owner of the house and arranged a transfer.
We found ourselves in a wonderful place.
A small village with pine trees along the coast, black magnetic sands (very healthy for both adults and children) on the beach, clean air and the atmosphere of a “home” resort.
I must say that in June there are still no tourists there. We were practically alone on the beach.
Why didn’t I choose a popular resort like Kobuleti or Ureki? I wanted silence, I don’t really like crowded places.

So, the sea
I’ll say right away that such a vacation is not suitable for those who are looking for entertainment, who want communication, who want excursions.
We, of course, got out of our village. To neighboring Poti, to Ureki. There are many shops and entertainment for children.
But: it was hot, crowded, and we quickly ran to our house on the seashore. Moreover, he was on the seashore in the literal sense of the word. You open the door, ten meters of lawn - and immediately the beach.
We had our own large room on the first floor of the house, with a bathroom (washing machine) and a kitchen.
I prepared the food myself
We pre-filled our luggage with baby cereal, canned food, a potty, and diapers. And I must say, if not for this, our vacation would have cost much more.
Food is really expensive in Georgia, for example, milk costs 3.5 rubles with our money (and it’s, you know, “chemical”), we didn’t buy meat at all! Although by the end of June homemade milk was brought directly to the beach, very tasty and cheap.
There was no entertainment in our village at all. We spent all our time on the beach or on the lawn, playing ball, “catch-up” and various simple games invented on the spot.
I took a lot of children's card games, so we weren't bored.

In the first days of vacation there was practically no one on the beach
But the sea (we flew from June 18 to 28) was cool. By the end of June, groups of people began to appear. The sea became very warm.
It was impossible to pull the children out of the sea! The entrance to the sea is very soft, smooth and long.
You can move fifty meters away from the sea and still stand waist-deep in water. For parents with children, this is paradise. And, once, we even saw dolphins!
Regarding the beach...it's dirty
But this dirt is not bottles and garbage, but some branches, sticks, leaves.
But the sea itself is clean. Lots of shells.
What I didn't like were the wandering dogs. They were all harmless, but they were a nuisance by begging.
And there could also be a herd of cows walking along the beach! But for the children it was more of an entertainment.
For children of this age it is not difficult to come up with entertainment, even after being in one place for so many days.
These are morning runs along the sea, with splashes and laughter, burying in the sand and digging up treasures, tunnels through which water runs, burying children and oneself in the sand, and no one has canceled the banal rolling cars.
Every day at sea was a holiday for the children, even without any toys or outside entertainment.

What left a negative imprint on me
The taste of the tap water, the lack of a good grocery store within walking distance, the lack of shoulders on the roads and very, very fast drivers (a pedestrian crossing will not allow you to cross the road safely, you have to wait until all the cars pass).
Which will definitely make me go back there.
Calm, feeling of safety and people. Even at night we could leave the door to the street open, although our house didn’t even have a fence.
You feel at home there and are not afraid. People are very sociable, they love Belarusians, and this respect is not feigned.
It was unforgettable to sit on a bench near the house in the evening and watch stunning sunsets; even the children became quiet at this time and looked fascinated and surprised.
The splashing of the waves provided the peace we all needed at the end of a hot and bright day.
On the last day we decided to go to Batumi.
And what I realized there was a completely different vacation. The city is stunning in its aura, architecture, people, entertainment, playgrounds, food and nature. But...that would be a completely different story.

So, what can I say: you can go to Georgia with children
But consider everything: food, your leisure preferences, local flavor.
An all-inclusive holiday in Georgia will be very expensive, but no less attractive.
But a holiday in the outback will leave a lasting positive impression only if you are ready for it, as we were ready.
Namely: simplicity, almost village life and a lot of time alone with nature and oneself.
Alla Chastnaya
The choice of a resort for a holiday with a child depends on how many days you are going to Georgia and for what purpose. If you are traveling mainly for the sake of the sea, some places will suit you, but if entertainment in a noisy city comes first, you need others.
Tourism in Georgia
Tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Europe, Asia and even the USA go to Georgia on vacation. Not surprising, because Georgia is traditions, folk food, mountain nature, sea and friendly people all rolled into one. This country is suitable for family and company holidays.
Most visitors choose to holiday near the water. The country is washed Black Sea, the climate here is humid, subtropical. In the coastal part of Georgia you can find resorts for every budget and taste.
Sunny Batumi
Where to relax in Georgia by the sea, if not in Batumi? This resort is located along the coast and is suitable for relaxation if your visit to Georgia lasts less than 5 days. Advantages of Batumi in terms of holidays with children:
- the city has a water park, a dolphinarium, a zoo and other entertainment for children;
- next to each hotel or hostel there will be markets and shops nearby;
- the city is safe;
- many places for walking (parks, embankment);
- There are many clubs and restaurants available for parents to relax.
Such a developed infrastructure also results in a lack of recreation in Batumi - not very clean sea. Top beaches for swimming: Iveria, Mandarin and My Black Sea.
If you vacationed in Abkhazia before traveling to Georgia, you may have problems with entry.
During the tourist influx season (this is the period from July to September), the cost of a vacation can be steep. A trip in the autumn months is relatively inexpensive. Locals say that even in October the sea in Georgia is warm.
Holidays in Gonio and Kvariati
Both of these beautiful cities are located in the coastal part of Georgia. will suit you if your trip to Georgia lasts at least a week. A distinctive feature of these resorts is the healing mountain air and crystal sea. Of the minuses of both cities:
- there is not much entertainment for children, at most single playgrounds and trampolines;
- underdeveloped infrastructure.
Beaches in this area pebble. The stones get very hot during the day, which can be uncomfortable. Another controversial nuance is the steep coastline. The shore itself is deep and drops sharply down 1-2 meters. Some beaches may experience high waves and frequent storms.
For a city break, go to Batumi, the journey takes 20 minutes and costs up to $0.5.
In Gonio, be sure to visit the famous eucalyptus grove And ruins of ancient castles. There are many diving spots in Kvariati, the seabed there is very beautiful. This is where the options for cultural recreation end.
Ureki and Grigoleti
You can also go to these resorts for a vacation lasting from 1 week. Beaches in cities sandy, the sea is relatively shallow and the shore enters the sea gradually. Resort By the river known for its magnetic sands, which can cure many childhood diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system and cardiovascular system, and even cerebral palsy.
The sea itself in these resorts is clean and warmer than in Batumi. You don’t even have to book accommodation in advance and look for it yourself right on the spot. In the private sector, every second house is rented out. There are several significant disadvantages of Ureki and Grigoleti:
- a lot of mosquitoes;
- not very clean coastline;
- in summer the beach is almost always crowded with vacationers;
- There are few shops and other advantages of civilization.
Ureki and Grigoleti- these are villages, not cities. Renting housing there is not particularly expensive, but while relaxing there you won’t be able to have much fun or go for a walk. It is very often impossible to travel to Batumi for these purposes; the journey one way takes about 1.5 hours. If you are going to Georgia specifically for the sea, these options are just right.
The city is not very far away Poti, this is a port city. There are more different shops and entertainment places. As a last resort, you can go for a walk there.
Kobuleti
This city is very similar in structure to Batumi, it is the second most popular among vacationers in Georgia. If you decide to go to Kobuleti- settle closer to the city center, there is nothing much to do on the outskirts. If the issue of price is critical for you, you can rent housing very cheaply in residential areas.
In every more or less large city in Georgia you can rent a car, which makes getting around much more convenient.
There are a lot of beaches in this city; there are places to relax with both very small and large pebbles. Among the advantages of Kabuleti:
- there is an amusement park Tsitsinatela with a huge territory and a large number of attractions for children, adults and families;
- many bars, restaurants, cafes;
- you can rent accommodation to suit a wide range of budgets and tastes;
- For children there are playgrounds, cafes with animators and other entertainment.
Kabuleti has a very well-functioning transport connection system. Moving around the city does not cause any inconvenience.
Cape Verde
This area is also called by another name. It is not very far from Batumi - only 9 km.
This resort is more reminiscent of a tropical area; it has a very humid and warm climate. The cape remains green all year round. The advantages of Mtsvane-Kontskhi are:
- Here you can spend a lot of time with your children even in the hottest part of the day. Such a number of plants makes the air very clean and healing; people often go to this resort to restore the respiratory system.
- There is a very large botanical garden; your child will be able to see unique plant species.
- Viewpoints offer views of the most beautiful landscapes.
- Variety of beaches. On the green cape you will find both small pebble beaches for families with children and places for extreme recreation with a steep coastline.
- There is an opportunity to go diving and windsurfing.
- The sea is very clean.
The area is adapted for recreation for both adults and children. Here you will feel very comfortable.
Shekvetili
This is a village located next to the resort of Ureki. This place is characterized by the same magnetic sands and forest groves that are present in Ureki and Grigoleti. Differences between Shekvetili and other resorts:
- Only cottages are available for occupancy (it is not possible to rent housing from private owners), you can rent the entire house or rent a couple of rooms;
- it is much quieter here than in other resorts in Georgia;
- relatively few vacationers.
Shekvetili more suitable for those who like passive family vacations. If you come here, you need to purchase food and everything you need in advance, because there are no shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. If you have long wanted to escape from civilization and the bustle of the city, you will like Shekvetili.
If you go to Shekvetili, when? The maximum water temperature is reached in August, rental prices in this month are not very high, so the best option would be the end of summer and the very beginning of autumn.
Anaklia
This new resort is located in Western Georgia, 150 km away from Batumi. Anaklia received city status recently and has not yet had time to survive the influx of tourists. Due to this, the resort’s beaches and sea are still very clean. Anaklia already has a fairly well-developed infrastructure and transport links within the city. For a family holiday, the resort has the following places:
- amusement park;
- hotels of various categories;
- a yacht club where you can book boat excursions or rent a yacht;
- many cafes and restaurants.
There are no downsides to holidaying in Anaklia except one - since the city is new, it is not yet a thoroughly tested and explored territory by tourists. If this is your first vacation trip to Georgia, it is better to go to Batumi or Kobuleti. It is worth going to Anaklia for reconnaissance without children first.

For a holiday in Georgia with children during the beach season, we recommend choosing Batumi and Kobuleti. The duration of the season is from May to October.
The cost of living here is higher, but the range of entertainment services is wider.
- accommodation. Batumi and Kobuleti offer a variety of types of accommodation - from small private ones to large respectable hotels.
- Large hotels will offer a high level of service. A number of hotels can provide a babysitting service upon request.
Beach and entrance to the sea
Batumi beach is rocky, but the entrance is convenient even for a small child. In Kobuleti, the pebble beach is 10 km long. With younger children, it is better to go to Ureki in the summer. The 5 km long sandy beach and wide strip of coastal shallow water will appeal to parents and children. The famous healing properties of sand with magnetite will benefit the health of the whole family. There are a large number of hotels and guest houses in Ureki.
Where to go with a child
Batumi. Be sure to visit the Batumi Botanical Garden. There are many historical monuments in the city and its surroundings. You can book an excursion on the street, but we recommend going with a representative of the tour operator: it’s more reliable.
Kobuleti. Walks along the cozy streets of the city and the embankment. Children will love the Tsitsinatela entertainment center (translated from Georgian as Firefly). Everyone will find an attraction to their liking. All attractions are new, including the Ferris Wheel, Castle of Horrors, and Kamikaze. The large area of the park is neat. The only drawback is that the ticket office is located at the entrance to the park, and not at the attractions. Therefore, so that nothing overshadows the walk, you should take care of purchasing tickets in advance.
Winter period, ski resorts
Children over three years old at ski resorts in Georgia will be able to learn skiing or snowboarding with the help of an instructor during their vacation. Bakuriani is especially popular among family vacation lovers. A wide selection of inexpensive hotels and developed infrastructure will satisfy the needs and wishes of vacationers with the whole family.
Off-season holidays
Known for their unique climatic conditions and thermal waters, Georgia's sanatoriums and holiday homes welcome guests all year round. Mountain resorts in the Borjomi Gorge and Sairme have modern medical facilities and offer comfortable accommodation for children.
If you purchase a voucher with treatment, three dietary meals a day are included in the price. Discounts are available for guests with younger children.
The price of accommodation in small private hotels often includes meals. Georgian cuisine is not overly spicy; most dishes resemble familiar homemade dishes. A special children's menu is available upon request. Hospitable hosts will be happy to try to please their little guests.

Beach season in Georgia
The Georgian Black Sea coast, which is a vast 315-kilometer coastal strip (including Abkhazia, which is not controlled by the Georgian authorities), is characterized by very warm summers. Climatic conditions allow swimming in the sea for five to six months, and climatotherapy all year round.
Typically, the beach holiday season in Georgia lasts from June to September, but some people swim in May and at the end of October, although the sea is cold at this time.
The ideal time for a passive holiday at sea in Georgia is the second half of June, September and the first week of October, when the sea has already warmed up and the main stream of vacationers has not yet arrived or has already left.
From mid-July and throughout August, there are a lot of vacationers along the entire Black Sea coast of Georgia - there are summer cafes on the beaches, clubs are open, and accordingly, housing prices rise during this period.
The coastal part of Adjara is a favorite place for tourists and is distinguished by diverse resort areas.
Batumi
One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Black Sea coast is Batumi, located in a subtropical climate zone. Every year thousands of tourists come here, not only domestic, but also from all over the world.

Teenagers will also be interested in riding a bicycle along Batumi Boulevard, the main attraction of the city, which can be rented there.
In the old part of the boulevard, which stretches for seven kilometers, there is a park decorated with modern sculptures, original benches and fountains.
Along the entire coast in Batumi there are cafes and bars, restaurants and hotels, as well as shops.
The city hosts many international festivals and events every year. So that in Batumi everyone can find something interesting for themselves.
The beach in Batumi is free, like all beaches in Georgia. You will have to pay to rent sun loungers and umbrellas. Those who don’t like the city beach can go to neighboring villages.
You can stay both in hotels and in the private sector.
Gonio
The cleanest sea in the vicinity of Batumi is in the villages of Gonio and Kvariati, which are located south of Batumi, not far from the Georgian-Turkish border.
In Gonio, in addition to the clear sea and mountain slopes, tourists are attracted by the eucalyptus grove located along the road and endowing vacationers with a healing aroma.
Tourists in Gonio are also attracted by the ruins of an ancient fortress of the same name, which is associated with many legends and myths.
On the territory of the fortress there is a symbolic grave of the Apostle Matthew - one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, who, according to some sources, may be buried in this territory.
The beach in Gonio, which is located 11 kilometers from Batumi, is made of large pebbles.
In Gonio and Kvariati you can stay in both hotels and private accommodation, located either near the beach or nearby in the mountains.
Kvariati
One of the most popular resorts on the Black Sea coast of Georgia is Kvariati, which has an excellent location, combining mountain air with sea air.
The sea water here is crystal clear, which attracts many vacationers. The beach, one kilometer long, is pebbly and clean. Kvariati, which is located 15 kilometers from Batumi, has gained popularity for its deep water and attractive underwater world, which is ideal for diving.
For lovers of the underwater world, there is a diving center at the beginning of Kvariati.
Beach lovers can rent scooters, pedal boats and banana boats.
In addition, there are playgrounds and rubber trampolines in Kvariati and Gonia.
Kobuleti
The most popular seaside resort in Georgia after Batumi is Kobuleti, where you can find entertainment and services for every taste. The holiday season begins in June and ends in October. The beaches are varied - from small to large pebbles.

The subtropical climate makes a holiday in Kobuleti fabulous - the resort is located in the Colchis Lowland and differs from other seaside resorts in the region with its special microclimate. This is a real pearl of Adjara.

This place got its name Cape Verde because of its year-round green cover. The climate in the resort is subtropical, warm and very humid, which promotes the growth of tropical plants.
The total area of the garden is about 120 hectares, which contains a magnificent collection of 5 thousand species. Almost half of them are tree and shrub species. Only 104 of them can be found in the Caucasus. In one territory they coexist perfectly: blue eucalyptus and Japanese sakura, cactus plantations and a bamboo grove, palm trees and giant spruce trees.
Hot summers promote sunbathing, as well as the treatment of respiratory diseases. The improvement of this place began at the end of the 19th century. On the beautiful slopes of Cape Verde, the Batumi Botanical Garden of world significance was laid out, which annually welcomes thousands of vacationers and guests.
The coastal strip of Cape Verde is incredibly picturesque. The fine-pebble beaches are always full of vacationers, including lovers of active recreation (diving and windsurfing). Wild rocky beaches are open for extreme sports enthusiasts.

The coast of Ureki is a strip of pine and eucalyptus forests, which, combined with sea air, fills everything around with a very special intoxicating aroma.
The sea, sun, fine velvety sand with magnetic properties make the Ureki resort a unique place for active recreation and treatment.
Many years of practice have proven that magnetic sands help treat cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, childhood diseases such as cerebral palsy, paralysis, rickets and birth injuries, as well as chronic urogenital diseases, which often cause infertility.
These sands help rapid rehabilitation after severe operations and recovery from complex fractures and injuries, which is why people come here to improve their health.
Magnetic sands exist in many countries, including Argentina, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Japan, but only in Ureki the magnet content reaches 70%, which is one or two orders of magnitude higher than in other places.
The healing properties of the magnetic field have been known since ancient times. They were used for treatment by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Indian yogis. In modern medicine, the magnetic field is widely used as a physiotherapeutic method called magnetotherapy.
Like all significant seaside resorts in Georgia, Ureki has recently begun to actively expand its tourism infrastructure - the old beach has been improved, several new beaches have opened, and modern hotels have been built.
There are children's playgrounds and water slides. You can build sand castles on the beach. There is an amusement park for children. Every summer, show business stars come here and hold concerts right on the shore.
So, if there is a heaven on earth, it is Ureki, where you can get while still alive. But you should be prepared for the fact that these resorts have a small selection of accommodation and it is advisable to book it in advance.
Grigoleti

This is one of the most famous Black Sea resorts in the Lanchkhuti region (Guria region), which is located 10 kilometers from the city of Poti.
The resort, most of the coastline of which is covered with pine forest, is located in the southwestern part of the Colchis Lowland, and the proximity of the warm Black Sea contributes to the formation of a humid subtropical climate in the area.Grigoleti beach consists of magnetic sand, especially useful for joint and rheumatic diseases. The incredible properties of this sand were first experienced by the residents of this area, who were cured of various chronic diseases. In this regard, doctors, scientists, and research institutes became interested in the properties of magnetic sand.
An ideal place for a relaxing holiday with family and children. Here you can choose a hotel room or cottages with three meals a day, or stay in the private sector.

This is a young, rapidly developing resort on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, located 147 kilometers from Batumi. Anaklia received city status in August 2011, when the first high-class hotel and yacht club opened.
Spanish architect Alberto Domingo was invited to build the resort. He changed the geometry of the coastal strip, designed a new embankment, laid out a large amusement park and built the longest pedestrian bridge in Europe, 540 meters long, which connects the resort with the village of Ganmukhuri, located on the other side of the Inguri River.
At the moment, the coast is being built up with modern hotels and tourist facilities. A deep-sea port and a Free Industrial Zone will be built in Anaklia, which will contribute to the development of the region and, accordingly, tourism infrastructure and the growth of tourists.
P.S
Which of the above resorts to choose is up to you. Everything will depend on what type of relaxation you prefer - passive or active.
It should be remembered that in the second half of July - in August, prices are high everywhere and many good places are occupied, so it is better to book a hotel room or a room in the private sector on the Internet in advance, so as not to search on the spot in the heat, especially if you are with children.
If you plan to spend two weeks or a month at sea, you can book accommodation for a few days, and spend time on the spot, comfortably, searching for accommodation. The chances of finding a cheaper apartment or room are quite real.
The price of housing in the private sector is not fixed, but depends on the weather, season, time of day, the mood of the owner, and so on. You need to walk, look and bargain with the owner.
Georgia is an amazing country where not only clean sea, beach, sights and entertainment await you. It also includes delicious, natural food, wines, fruits and mineral waters.
All this, against the backdrop of sincerity and hospitality, leaves an indelible mark on the soul and makes tourists come to the Black Sea resorts of Georgia.
