Church of the Resurrection
The idea of building a temple arose back in 1988, when Bishop Anthony of Tobolsk and Tyumen chose a place for its construction. The first brick was laid in 2001, and four years later the first service in honor of the Resurrection of Christ was held in the church. Made in the style of Russian architecture of the second half of the 19th century, the temple complex is considered the largest in the Khanty-Mansiysk region and has no analogues. The architect of the project was the author of many other famous sights of Khanty-Mansiysk, Karen Saprichan. According to his idea, the territory of the Slavyanskaya Square park is conditionally divided into several sections. The first of them is a cascade of stairs near the main entrance to the temple. Monuments to the enlighteners of Siberia - John and Philotheus, and the Metropolitans of Tobolsk are also located here. The second section, “Road to the Temple,” is a 140 m long cascade of stairs directed towards the city center and separated by a stream with small waterfalls and fountains. The third section contains alleys and recreation areas.
The total cost of the complex project was about 700 million rubles.
Other features of the “In the Name of the Resurrection of Christ” complex include a unique external gallery located at the top of the main temple. For visitors it is of interest as an observation deck, but the main purpose of the external gallery is determined by the air heating system operating in the building. The gallery prevents the appearance of moisture and heats the space under the dome of the temple. The cladding of the temple is made of white Ural marble. The Chapel of Cyril and Methodius deserves special attention. It contains 12 bells, the main one weighing more than 10 tons.
The weight of another bell is 1950 kg, thereby symbolizing the date when Khanty-Mansiysk was given the status of a city.
The decoration of the cathedral church is represented by an altar and a three-tiered iconostasis separated from the middle, decorated with icons of saints and crowned with a golden cross in the middle. The walls of the temple are also painted with images of holy ascetics.
