A characteristic feature of these villages is the presence of upper and lower settlements (i.e. lower Krinitsa and upper Krinitsa). The terrain is mountainous, there are many gorges. In the village of Betta there are several Slots (Right, Left, etc.). They are gorges remote from the sea (1 km or more) where rich flora and fauna are observed. the Betta farm is, as it were, “hidden” in the mountains from prying eyes, it is the final station of the road, then there are only mountains, forest and sea.
Story
The name “Betta” is associated with the Adyghe anthroponym “Bite”; according to other sources, “bete” means humpbacked in Adyghe, which possibly meant mountainous terrain. A Greek version of the origin of the toponym, meaning “two,” is also possible, perhaps because in this place two rivers converge into one before flowing into the sea.
The village arose in the 90s of the 19th century, as a result of disagreements in the agricultural community of intellectuals Krinitsa. According to the testimony of Gelendzhik police officials and the local press of the late 19th century, Betta was founded by undocumented miners who arrived south from the central and southern provinces of Russia in the hope of finding casual work in these places.
The seeds of hard work and the thirst for searching for a better life fell on fertile soil. A favorable climate, excellent land and a desire to improve their way of life allowed the newly arrived laborers to establish a community life. The local population and the capital's intelligentsia, who came to rest in the summer, helped the new colonists with advice and the transfer of experience. So, in the Shirochanskaya gap, in the village of Betta, the Shirochanskaya artel arose. Through her efforts, gardens, vineyards and arable land began to be cultivated.
