How to get from Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv
By train
A convenient, fast and inexpensive way to get from the airport to Tel Aviv (and other cities in Israel). Travel to the central railway station of the city - HaHagana - only 13.5 shekels. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes during the day, every hour at night, travel time is 10-12 minutes. The station is located on the lower level (S) of Terminal 3.
You can also get to the center by going to Tel Aviv Merkaz (Savidor) station, and then taking bus number 18 (a ticket costs about 7 shekels). See prices and train schedules.
The return route from the city to the airport is the same. Remember that if you arrive by train at Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 1, you can get there by free shuttle (station on level G). The shuttle stop at Terminal 1 is located in front of it, opposite Gate 4.
Don't throw away your tickets, as there are turnstiles at the exit.
By minibus (sherut monit)
Along with the train, this is the most convenient and popular option among tourists to get from/to Tel Aviv airport. The advantage of this method is that minibus taxis will stop wherever you want, and not just at the official stop. Minibuses depart from the airport only when the cabin is filled with passengers. The journey to Tel Aviv will take about 20-30 minutes, the ticket price is 30-40 shekels.

By taxi
A taxi at Tel Aviv Airport must be ordered through a dispatcher: in Terminal 3 on level G, at Gate 3, and in Terminal 1 - next to Gate 3. The cost of a trip to the city center will be approximately 130-150 shekels.
You can order a car for transfer in advance on the website - the driver will meet you with a sign.
By bus
This is the most inconvenient and time-consuming method, since there are no direct routes that would connect the airport with the city. If you do decide to take the bus, you need to find exits 21 and 23 of Terminal 3 (second level) - there is a bus stop there. Wait for bus number 5 (carrier Egged Service Lines, free), which will take you to Airport City station, from where you can go to Tel Aviv and other cities.
By rented car
Another convenient option is renting a car at Tel Aviv airport. You don’t have to wait for transport or fuss with luggage, and you can return your car before departure. Renting a small car costs from $36 per day, medium - from $37, large car - from $52 per day. You can book a car on the Skyscanner Car Hire website.

I hope you find some useful information here to help you on your trip to Jerusalem. That's all I have for today. I wish you all pleasant travels. See you again!
The two main metropolises in the Middle East are separated by a distance of 66 km, but the main Israeli airport is not located near the capital, but 14 km to the Southeast in the direction of Tel Aviv. The Ben-Gurion International Airport gained its fame thanks to increased security requirements and a whole range of security measures developed in order to prevent and timely prevent terrorist threats.
The enforcement of these measures is monitored by various Israeli law enforcement agencies: the army, the police, and private security firms. Therefore, traveling to this state is completely safe. Let's consider the basic conditions of the flight and the ease of travel to the destination, that is, how quickly you can get from Tel Aviv airport to the city center after the plane lands.
Thanks to the well-organized infrastructure of the transport network, it is easy to get to the city hotel using almost any type of transport, based on your budget, personal preferences and free time.
Today, the second largest metropolis is inferior to Jerusalem in terms of population and popularity among foreign guests, but is ahead of it in terms of infrastructure development and transport traffic. For its desire for progress and its modern appearance, Tel Aviv has received the fame of the “city of the future”, so the location of the main air harbor nearby is quite justified.
Compatriots planning a trip to the Dead Sea will have to decide how to get from Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv in the shortest time or at the lowest cost.
Currently, tourists have access to the following options:
- travel by city public transport;
- contact a taxi service;
- to rent a car;
- use the transfer.
We will discuss these methods in more detail below. How is the road to the air terminal along the railway track? Traveling by train (rakevet) is considered almost the most comfortable and economical way to travel. The departure point is located on the underground level directly in the third terminal building.
Suburban trains operate around the clock. The exception is religious holidays, including the seventh day of the week - Shabbat - the Sabbath day, when, according to spiritual teachings and established regulations, local residents are advised not to work. To reach the metropolis on this day, you need to order a taxi or take a shuttle. Railway traffic resumes after 20 pm.
From the airport, you can also take a train to Jerusalem on a morning or evening flight (at 6 a.m. or 7 p.m.). It should be remembered that at night the interval between trains is one hour, and during the day - about half an hour. During the daytime, the train picks up passengers at the following stations:
- HaHagana is an intermediate stop from where you can transfer to the train to Jerusalem and other popular places;
- Ha-Shalom is a crowded business center;
- Savidor-Merkaz - located near the local bus station;
- The university is the final destination of the electric train.
At night, trains stop at Savidor-Merkaz station, bypassing previous points. To continue to the famous tourist areas and get from Tel Aviv airport to the city center, you need to take bus route No. 18.
The exact train schedule can be found on the interactive page of the local railway hub website. For the convenience of Russian-speaking passengers, all information is available in translation.
You can buy a railway pass immediately after landing in the terminal building - in special machines located at the station. How to get from Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv without assistance? Make use of the tourist amenities provided by various signs and signs in the train and station areas. Finding the right car is very easy: just follow the signs that say “trains”.
The ticket purchasing algorithm looks like this:
- In the machine window, indicate “English”;
- mark your final destination;
- read the information about the date of the trip and its duration;
- indicate who needs a ticket (adult or child);
- make payment in cash or using a bank card.
Announcements of train arrivals are made in English. The price of a trip to the center of Tel Aviv from the airport is 16 shekels. Translated into our money, this amount is approximately equal to 270 rubles. It is fixed and cannot be reduced even if you decide to leave earlier than the specified station.
The road to the city takes a maximum of 15 minutes. Certain categories of citizens are provided with certain discounts and preferential tariff prices for tickets, in particular for:
- children under five years old – travel is free;
- children from 5 to 10 years old – there is a 10% discount on the purchase of a coupon;
- – the discount on the ticket is also 10% upon presentation of a student card or other supporting document;
- pensioners - the benefit is 50%, but it is better to check at the box office in advance whether this condition applies to foreign guests.
If you have any questions or problems related to purchasing tickets, you can ask for help from airport staff 24 hours a day.
Before entering the platform, the purchased ticket must be leaned against the turnstile. After completing the journey, people exit according to the same principles, so before arriving at the destination, you should not throw away the ticket.
In addition to the railway, the available type of transport is local minibuses or sherut monit. Their undoubted advantage compared to electric trains is the ability to get off at any time and anywhere, without reaching the stop provided by the route.
The sherut monit departs only when the entire cabin is filled with passengers. The duration of the trip will be about half an hour, but tickets cost almost 2.5 times more than by train (maximum 40 shekels or 670 rubles).
Due to the small interior, the road will not be too comfortable for travelers with small children or tourists with a large number of bags and suitcases. The cheapest way to get from Tel Aviv airport to the city center is by city bus. This type of transport is considered the most economical in price, but the least comfortable. There is no direct way to get to the city by minibus or bus.
In the process you need to follow a certain sequence of actions:
- from the 3rd terminal building, take exits No. 21, No. 23 to the bus stop, or take shuttle No. 5. Travel on the shuttle is free for all passengers. However, if you plan to return to the airport after leaving its territory, you can enter the shuttle only upon presentation of the travel card received from the driver in the city public minibus;
- transfer to minibus No. 268. The duration of the trip to the booked hotel will be approximately half an hour, not taking into account the congestion of the route. Ticket price – 14 shekels or 234 rubles;
- take shuttle number 5 to the Ben Gurion El Junction stop;
- get to the city by bus No. 249.
You need to keep in mind that traveling by bus takes longer than other types of transport. In addition, buses do not operate at night and on Saturdays. Discounts on tickets on public transport are similar to those on the train. Small children accompanied by adults are allowed to travel free of charge.
Buses depart from Ben Gurion Airport from 7 am to 9 pm from Thursday to Sunday. And also at 10:25 and 14:00 on Fridays. On Saturdays, one route is operated, departing from the airport terminal at 21:30.
Traveling by car with a driver is the most acceptable option for those tourists who like to travel in comfort, or who take a lot of luggage with them on the road. Drivers will deliver you to the metropolis even at night, on weekends and holidays, including Shabbat. Therefore, among other means of transport, this is the only option to get to Tel Aviv. It is suitable for airline customers flying into Israeli soil on Saturdays or at night.
The disadvantage in this case is the high travel costs: the driver of the car will charge you 230 shekels or more than 3800 rubles in our money.
Additional costs are also possible:
- plus 10 shekels (160 rubles) for one more person;
- 67 rubles additionally for baggage transportation;
- plus 25% of the base price for a trip on Saturday or at night;
- a certain amount at the driver's discretion for waiting.
Be vigilant so as not to fall for various tricks of scammers. The price for a taxi ride in Israel is constant; the specific cost can be clarified at a special counter at the airport terminal or by calling the taxi service.
In order to get from Tel Aviv airport to the city center on time, it is preferable to make an order in advance on the Internet. If you plan to do this at the airport, you risk getting into long queues at the entrance to Terminal 3 or at the exit from Terminal 1. Taxi services are always offered on the carriers' website.
Driving a rented car is a very convenient and fast way to get into the city. The main advantage here is the absence of the need to wait for a bus, train, minibus and sufficient space for any luggage. How expensive is it to get from Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv? Do you need to spend money on such a trip? The rental price depends on the type of car and its capacity:
- $36 for a small car that can accommodate up to 4 passengers;
- $37 and up for a mid-size car;
- $52 per day for minibus rental.
If you have an international driver's license, there are no obstacles to renting a car. When choosing this method of travel, every foreign tourist has the opportunity to freely move around urban areas and in the surrounding area, as well as explore the most famous sights of an amazing country. Guests from distant countries most often use a rented car.
Another available type of transport is a transfer from the airport to the city. Ordering a trip from a company is an expensive but time-saving way that allows you to quickly get to your desired location.
The advantages of this type of passenger delivery are that the driver will personally meet you at the designated location and help you carry your luggage. Moreover, the price of the service is constant and does not change under unexpected circumstances. You can order a transfer online within 24 hours, without weekends or holidays.
Train from Ben Gurion Airport
Greetings, my dears! Today I will tell you how to get from Tel Aviv to Haifa by different means of transport.
The distance from the Israeli capital to Haifa is 92 kilometers. Travel time will take from one and a half to two hours, depending on what you decide to go on.

If you arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and want to go straight to Haifa without stopping in Tel Aviv, you can take the train right at the airport. Trains leave Ben Gurion every hour.
Ticket price is 27 shekels (just under $8). The duration of the trip is approximately one and a half hours.
From the city center
If you are already in Tel Aviv and decide to change your surroundings, go to Tel Aviv Central Station, HaHagana. From there you will travel to Haifa without any problems.
Trains depart 24 hours a day, which is very important for those arriving in Tel Aviv at night. If you travel from the city, the travel time will be about 20 minutes longer.

The route number, platform at which boarding takes place, and other useful information are indicated on the ticket. The same discounts apply on bus routes as on the railway.
3. By taxi
In addition to the usual taxis in Israel, there is also a hybrid taxi and minibus from the Amal company. Their parking lot is right in Ben Gurion airport.
This transport is suitable for those who are not in a hurry. The fact is that the minibus leaves only after it is fully loaded, and this can take a long time.
The difference between such a taxi and a regular minibus is that each passenger will be taken to the address specified by him.
The cost of a trip from Tel Aviv main airport to the desired address in Haifa is 87 shekels ($22.5). Travel time depends on the speed of passenger transportation. A trip between cities on this minibus takes just over an hour.
Those who prefer a regular taxi can also take one directly from the airport.
A car to Haifa will cost 480 shekels ($124). But this is not the full cost.
- For each suitcase you will have to pay about 4 shekels ($1)
- For an additional passenger after the third – 10 shekels ($2.5)
- In the evening and at night (from 20.30 to 6.00) the total fare increases by 25%.
If you are not very fluent in foreign languages, you can order a taxi on a Russian-language service, this can be done in advance. The cost will be fixed and usually less than a taxi from the airport.
So, intercity taxi is not a cheap pleasure. But you can get there quickly: in just 1 hour 15 minutes. Taking a taxi at night, although more expensive, is absolutely safe.
4. By car
The best way for those who like to travel independently and not depend on anyone. You can rent a car at Ben Gurion Airport immediately after arrival on any day, including Saturday. And if you book it in advance on the website, the car will be waiting for you.
To rent a car, you just need to show an international driving license.
The daily cost of renting an average car will be approximately 160 shekels ($40). A liter of gasoline will cost 5.5 shekels ($1.3).
By renting a car, you can plan your travel route yourself, attend various excursions, and conveniently get to the airport on the day of your return flight.
So, if you have a car, then this route from Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa will be useful to you (you can open it in a new window for comfort).
