The village itself, or rather the estate scattered over relatively flat sections of the slope, is located along the old south coast highway. This is another option for lovers of hiking and cycling along the old mountain serpentines. Find on the map an asphalt road that starts in Alushta near the Krymskie Zori hotel and the Alushtinsky sanatorium. Then this old road crosses the trolleybus track at the monument to partisans and soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and, with smooth bends, goes deep into the forest on the mountain slopes. Huge rounded boulders resemble the impact of glaciers in northern Europe, however, the ancient glaciation of the Crimean mountains has not been proven, and the pebbles of Mount Paragilmen are also a mystery.

The mysterious name Paragilmen is of Greek origin. Its ancestor is a philosophical term meaning "going beyond", "violating the limits of something." Perhaps the Greeks wanted to emphasize the height with this, but modern climbers may not agree with them. This mountain is an excellent and unsafe training ground. The one who conquers it will go beyond the past self, overcome the limits of his own inability, argue with fate.

In the Crimea there is a song full of black humor, about a rock climber who fell into the abyss, whose friend, studying the features of the fall, tried to calculate the height of the rock where the accident occurred. There will definitely be someone who will say that this is written about Paragilmen. But athletes still come here - in such places you can really understand who is worth what.

The legends on this topic are inaccurate, but the local population is sure that the treasure of some ancient rich man should wait in the wings on Paragilmen. Mountain origin

It was formed in the Pliocene period (2-5 million years ago) from limestone rocks. At that time, it was not yet a separate mountain, but was part of Babugan-Yayla, the largest massif of the Crimean mountains. For reasons unknown to us, Paragilmen broke away from Babugan, and, turning about 20 degrees, slid off the main massif and moved a distance of several kilometers.

Meaning of the name

Paragilmen is a mountain with three sheer steep slopes and one gentle slope, which stretches for 500 meters towards the parent massif Babugan-Yaila. The top and the northern slope are covered with dense beech-hornbeam forest and juniper thickets.

During the years of Soviet mountaineering, there were a lot of strong masters of sports of international class. The first ascents to this mountain were made by them, therefore, many routes to Paragilmen are very old and quite difficult, because. in those years, the categorization of routes was too relative. If, for example, the next USSR Championship in mountaineering was being prepared, then the strongest athletes of that time began to prepare routes on Paragilmen. Therefore, the categories of many routes to Paragilmen are very underestimated. For example, almost all Paragilmen "triples" can be equated to the Crimean "fours" in terms of the difficulty of passing. And the rare “fours” from Paragilmen can be safely compared with the Crimean “fives”.

• Route 2A along the left edge of the wall (“left deuce”), located next to route 1B. This is a beautiful and uncomplicated deuce with a panoramic ridge at the culmination of the route. The dots mark the proposed stations on the route, in contrast to 1B, the relief here is poorer in terms of vegetation and ledges. The total length is about 350 m, it is covered in 7 pitches / stations.

• Next in difficulty - ).

The route passes along the right edge of the wall without going to the wall. Unfortunately, it is almost invisible in the photo. You can start the route right along the rib, you can go to the left of the rib, along the system of slots and internal corners, so it’s a little more difficult and shorter, by 20 meters, you can go to the right of the rib from the couloir. The route passes along the corners of the center of the wall, turning to the right in the upper third, leading to the top of the "Shovel". The route is much more difficult than the classic troika. It starts in the same place, but after the first corner, it does not go to the left, but goes along the system of internal corners, towards the cornice with a white spot under it.

A bit of history. The route is very beautiful and logical in its own way. There are four difficult pitches, which is why it is considered the 4th (at one time Fantik called all difficult routes less than five pitches long), but this is Fantik, and he is not an indicator. And for mere mortals, this is a good, combat 5, according to the level of the “right diamond”, no lower. The route requires careful climbing and good knowledge of AID techniques. You can call it a real climbing route, as opposed to a broken climbing route.
