Construction began in 1998 and was completed in April 2000, right before the World Cup itself. Design studies were carried out by the design institute JSC LenNIIproekt. The general contractor was the company Skanska East Eurore Oy. This company is responsible for the arenas in Mytishchi, Chelyabinsk, Cherepovets and Yaroslavl.
