We decided to help you with this and made our own rating of the best seaside resorts in Italy, where you can arrange an unforgettable vacation for yourself and your kids.
The best beaches for families with children in Italy on the map
Lignano
We will deliberately give the palm in our TOP-5 to the small Italian resort town of Lignano. It is located in northeastern Italy, approximately halfway between and, and belongs geographically to the Venetian Riviera. It is washed by the Morano lagoon on one side and the Adriatic Sea on the other.
By many criteria, this place can be considered the best for a beach holiday with children in Italy. For many years, from year to year, Lignano has consistently received the highest EU award for the cleanliness of beaches - the Blue Flag. But cleanliness is not the only advantage of the resort.
It must be said right away that there are districts in Lignano - Sabbiadoro, Pineta, Riviera - and they are quite different. If you are planning a vacation with children in Italy, it is better to opt for Lignano Pineta, since Sabbiadoro is a rather heavily built-up and noisy area, and the Riviera is more suitable for golf lovers - there are plenty of golf courses here.
Lignano Pineta is famous for its pine forest - the area is literally immersed in greenery. A wonderful beach with golden sand stretches along the wide green strip of Parco del Mare. The combination of clear water, impeccable sandy beach, emerald greenery of the park (strictly speaking, there are two parks - "Marine" and "Hemingway", separated by the main street of the city) and remoteness from noisy "adult" discos - it's hard to come up with something better for families with children in Italy.
For a family holiday in Lignano, it is better to choose the Pineta area
There are paid and free beaches. There are four free ones, and they are no worse than paid ones, equipped with everything you need for a sea holiday and entertainment for children. For a change, you can choose the time and visit the Punta Verde Zoo, the children's amusement park "Gulliver", nurseries of parrots and butterflies, the Hemingway Plant Park. The Aquasplash water park is also located here.
As for accommodation, accommodation options in Lignano are everything - from hotels to private houses. But "historically" it so happened that tourists who decide to arrange a vacation with children at sea in Italy in Lignano, as a rule, rent private apartments in low-rise buildings.
All the beaches of Lignano are under the round-the-clock and strict control of marine rescue services - this is a separate noticeable advantage of Lignano. Lignano Sabbiadoro also has a 24-hour first aid station.
Cattolica
Another seaside resort that can be considered, without exaggeration, perfect for a family holiday, and where there are the best beaches for families with children, is Cattolica. This place is located on the border of the Riviera-Romagnola in the region and the Marche region. themselves locals affectionately called Cattolica "Queen Adriatic Sea”, and there is definitely something for it. Back in 2010, the two-kilometer-long sandy beach of Cattolica earned the Blue Flag for its clean water.
The beaches of Cattolica are great for families with toddlers and older children.
The large beach is divided into "beaches", each has its own serial number. All of them are well equipped for families. It has everything - children's clubs, swimming pools, jacuzzis, outdoor fitness rooms, table tennis, billiards. You can rent boats and catamarans. A lot of restaurants are open from dawn to dusk.
Actually, Regina Beach (sites No. 9-10-11), Beach 96 (Via Santa Chiara) and Bagno Voulpen (No. 85) are considered family beaches at the official level. Here, in addition to entertainment for parents, an excellent holiday with children in Italy is offered - animators, nannies work, children's disco is held.
Be sure to go to the Aquarium - the kids will be delighted with this amazing underwater kingdom with real sharks.
Cattolica Aquarium is able to surprise any child
In the park near Shark Bay, daily from 21:00 to 22:30, animators from the museum organize exciting children's parties, games and discos.
Each season offers its Mary Poppins Summer Center program - educational courses and fun activities for children and teenagers up to 18 years old. Children of all ages will find something of interest and taste - learning Italian, tennis lessons, horseback riding and many other interesting and useful things for kids.
Your children will also be very welcome in the city center. From June 15, the Mercatino Playground in Piazza del Mercato opens. Here you can play with the many toys provided, taste delicious snacks and make new friends from all over the world. And in the port of Nuova Darsena and Piazza della Rosa dei Venti, guests are expected to perform circus artists.
Terracina
The main city of the Riviera di Ulisse and part-time an excellent seaside resort for families with children in Italy is. The resort is famous for its excellent, clean and fully equipped beaches, which stretch along the coastline for 15 km. In addition to high-quality recreation and entertainment, Terracina is also valuable for its unique air with a high iodine content - according to this indicator, Terracina is second only to Acapulco.
The iodine-rich air of Terracina has a beneficial effect on overall health
Sandy beaches in these places are ideal even for the smallest - the water is clear, the sand is very soft, and the entry into the sea is long and gentle.
For kids, animators work on the beaches, large inflatable toys are provided, you can jump on a trampoline and have plenty of fun in any other way. For older children, exciting excursions to the old city will be interesting. You can diversify water activities at the local Miami Beach water park.
Adults here, too, will by no means be deprived of opportunities for an exciting vacation. On the beaches you can practice almost all possible water sports, including diving. Moreover, you can swim under water even after sunset, when marine life and underwater landscapes look the most mysterious.
Along the entire bay on the waterfront you will find a lot of restaurants and cafes where you can eat and feed the kids.
If you are planning a vacation with children at sea in Italy, it is in Terracina, and you are leaving with a large family, it is advisable to choose a good accommodation option in a cozy area of cottages and villas, which is adjacent to the town itself.
Riccione
Another seaside resort in Italy, where both adults and children will definitely have a good rest is this. In addition to the excellent climate, clean sea and wonderful air, the whole family will also find a lot of entertainment here, so no one will be bored.
First of all, it is necessary to note the nature of the beaches. They are great for sea holidays with children in Italy - a long gentle entrance to the sea, the complete absence of stones and reefs. Most of the beaches are equipped with modern playgrounds and comfortable changing rooms for babies.
The beaches of Riccione are strewn with fine sand and are well equipped for families with children.
There is plenty of entertainment for children here - a dolphinarium, a water park, a cinema, an amusement park. There is even a whole Beach Village beach club with water rides, slides, a pool, carousels, trains, a trampoline. Here the kids can dance with the animators.
You can also rent bicycles with special baby seats and take an exciting bike ride to the neighboring resorts of Rimini or Cattolica. The resorts are connected by a separate bike path that stretches along the entire coast.
Although Riccione is a small town (30 thousand people), it has large supermarkets where you can buy all the necessary baby supplies - diapers, milk, special baby food, and more.
Rimini
Finally, it is a very democratic and perhaps the most popular seaside resort, which is chosen annually by thousands and thousands of families from all over the world for families with children in Italy.
In fairness, it should be said that in terms of respectability and impeccability, Rimini slightly loses to the same Cattolica, or, moreover, Lignano, but we cannot fail to mention it, since this is a real Mecca of family holidays on the Adriatic.
Rimini has long been a real Mecca for family holidays in Italy
The coastal landscape here is very good for bathing babies - the sea is shallow, and in order to reach the depth, you need to walk several tens of meters. The bottom is safe, sandy, without stones and pebbles.

Italy is a member of the EU and is a country that has signed the Schengen Agreement, so the procedure for processing documents for children is fully consistent with the classic mechanism for obtaining a visa. A minor is required to issue a passport.
Pay attention to the list of documents for applying for a visa.
- Questionnaire completed by parents
- Photo and copy of the page of the international passport with the data of the minor
- Copy of the first page of the parent's passport
- Birth certificate - original and copy. Moreover, if the parent has changed his surname, the fact of this must also be confirmed with a special certificate.
If a travel company undertakes visa processing services, only original documents will be required from you. In addition, if a minor family member travels with his mother, a notarized consent of the father to leave is required. For the Russian border service, its presence is unimportant, but for the Italian consulate it is a necessary condition.
A power of attorney for children is required if they are going to enter Italy with accompanying persons who are not close relatives - this can be either a grandparent or an outside person or group of people.
The excursion north and the beach south of Italy are two completely different parts of the same country, and a lot depends on the type of vacation you prefer. If the age of the child allows, you can arrange a whole tour around the country not only to enjoy the excellent beaches and the sea, but also to show your child the world cultural heritage - according to UNESCO, about 70% of monuments of ancient architecture and art are concentrated in Italy.
In the south of the country, the 2018 beach season will last from early May to early October, and the peak of heat and tourist flow will, as usual, be in the summer months, when it is better not to come there with kids. But the velvet season in September for families with crumbs is an ideal time for swimming and walking.

Where to stay?
A strip of hotels stretches along the entire coast of the resort towns. Some of them are located right next to the beaches, others are further away, but you can almost in any case walk to the sea in about 15 minutes.
The main category of resort hotels is 3-star establishments. It cannot be said that all of them fully comply with these standards; in these Italian resorts, the stars are very “conditional”. Therefore, when choosing a hotel, be sure to indicate all the necessary parameters in a travel agency, and if you book accommodation on your own, then carefully review the photos and read the reviews of tourists.
The most budget option near the beach will cost a family of three about 3.5 thousand rubles a day. If you want increased comfort, book a 4-star hotel - for about 7 thousand rubles a day for three. Budget tourists usually go to Rimini and Riciione, but there are also luxurious hotels in the resorts, accommodation in which will cost three travelers about 12 thousand rubles a day.
Rimini and Riccione are surrounded by a resort area of fifty-kilometer beaches. The sea here is shallow and warm with a very flat bottom, the sand is clean and fine. The entrance to the water is gentle, there are practically no dangerous jellyfish, but small crabs can be found. It should be noted that most of the beaches are paid, and therefore you will have to pay for sun loungers and umbrellas, unless, of course, you have chosen a hotel with a private beach. There are also municipal ones, but there are only a couple of them and they are not so clean, but no one will swear for rest “on a towel”.
The infrastructure of the beaches is great for families with children. Playgrounds, water slides, sports areas and cafes with bars where you can buy refreshing drinks and snacks - you can lie on the beach at least around the clock. Want to have some fun? Take a ride on a catamaran, send the kids on the water slides. By the way, you can also go diving: in the waters of the Adriatic you will meet fish, turtles, starfish.
If you are interested in an educational holiday, go to the historical center of Rimini. The old part of the city is rich in architectural and historical monuments:

- Cavour Square. On it you can see buildings of various eras - from the Middle Ages to neoclassicism.

- Rubicon river. Known to all people due to the catchphrase, the river flows in the city to this day, tourists love to take pictures at the sign with the name of the river.
In addition to historical sites and architecture, the surroundings of the resorts are full of entertainment for children:
- You should definitely go to the park "Italy in Miniature". On the territory of under 100 thousand square meters there are copies of the most famous sights of the country. In addition, you can still play slot machines, go karting.
- Fiabilandia is an amusement park with children's discos and many themed areas: English legends, oriental exotics, African jungles and much more will keep the kids busy all day long.
- Mirabilandia Park is one of the largest in Europe, it is more modern and dynamic, and teenagers will definitely like it there.
- Do not forget about water activities - not far from Riciione is the Aquafan water park.
What to try in Emilia-Romagna? This region is one of the culinary centers of Italy. The cuisine of this place has given the world such famous dishes as parmesan, Parma ham, balsamic vinegar.
Rimini and Riccione are a huge number of restaurants and cafes, from the most inexpensive to respectable.
Of course, enjoy pasta and pizza for every taste; drink coffee with tiramisu; and be sure to buy the whole family "gelato", as they call ice cream in Italy.
Shopping is best done in Rimini. On the central streets of the city there are many shops where you can buy high-quality Italian shoes or an inexpensive fur coat. Outside the city there are outlets where you can buy things from past collections. And don't forget local souvenirs:
- a bottle of wine;
- products with a marine theme;
- bologna sausage.
By the way, in Rimini and Riccione there are a lot of travel agencies that offer to visit such cities as Venice, Rome, Florence and many others with a tour. Resorts are popular among Russian-speaking tourists, and therefore there is practically no language barrier here.

Collecting them will be a great joy for the child.
How to get there?
Getting to Rome from Moscow will not be difficult. There are both direct flights and transfers. The cost of a one-way ticket in 2019 will be approximately 9 thousand rubles.
