The 2018 Interfax national university ranking is available on official resources and univer-rating.ru. Compilers' opinion
“The most noticeable rivalry is taking place between high-status universities that have prepared their strategic development programs and have the necessary resources to implement these programs. Among the high-status universities, in all respects, the group of the strongest universities - participants in the 5-100 Project undoubtedly stands out. In addition, the activation of the “Export of Education” program , undoubtedly played a positive role in the development of internationalization among the country’s universities, primarily high-status universities,” said First Deputy General Director of the Interfax agency Alexey Gorshkov.
He separately noted the successes of MIPT, which was in the top 3, and focused on the positive effect of the “Export of Education” program, which allowed participating universities to perform better in this year’s ranking by expanding academic exchanges.
“Dozens of universities, thanks to this program, improved their positions in this year’s ranking,” Chaplygin said.

We took as a basis the “leaks” about universities that users of our site send to us. A leak is a detailed review of a university that goes through several stages of verification. The drain has a given characteristic. It can be positive, negative or neutral. We ask students, teachers, university staff, and just people who know about the university from the inside to write us a mini-essay, which we call a “leak.” At the first stage of verification, “leaks” are checked by site editors. They filter out reviews that are unfounded and suspicious in our opinion. If the review is approved by the site editor, the review is published in the “Typical applicant” group. Users of the group determine by voting whether this opinion should be trusted or not. If the number of “don’t believe” votes exceeds the norm, we carefully read the comments to this publication and try to understand what exactly confused our readers. In some cases, we find reasoned comments explaining the dissatisfaction with the opinion. Next, we decide whether to take this leak into account in the evaluation of the university or not. If a comment passes all stages of verification, it turns into a “leak” and is taken into account in the formation of our rating. “Drain” has its own weight - the number of people who clicked the “support” button. Thus, the ranking of a university depends not only on the number of positive, neutral or negative leaks, but also on the number of readers who supported this or that leak. Old plums have a worse effect on a university's ranking than new ones.
