The convenient location of the Capitol is the key to its popularity. You can walk from the University metro station (no more than 7-10 minutes), and there is also secure parking. Vigilant guards at the entrance may ask you to open the trunk - please be understanding.
Please note that your car can be parked in the Capitol parking lot for free for the first three hours. There are almost always free places.
As for the insides, the standard set of shops is supplemented by truly rare places. For example, there are outlets of the Italian brand Marina Yachting and the British perfume brand Jo Malone. There is also an 8-screen multiplex “Karo” - a paradise for movie lovers.
Why, there is even a World Class fitness club - people work out their muscles and run kilometers on treadmills in full view of ordinary visitors.

One of the oldest (opened in November 1997) and most original shopping centers in Moscow (located underground - three levels). Built according to the design project of sculptor Zurab Tsereteli.
Every resident of the capital has visited Okhotny Ryad at least once, and Muscovites first saw many of today’s popular shops there. For example, the first Russian H&M and Mascotte opened in Okhotny.
Located in the very heart of Moscow, Okhotny Ryad receives thousands of visitors every day, many of whom are foreigners. As a result, the shopping center is always crowded, it is very noisy and at times not entirely comfortable. But shopping is great at any time.
Yell rating: 4.3
It is located next to the Voykovskaya metro station (which, in turn, is very far from the center - and this is the main disadvantage). Taking into account the fact that paid parking is available, and free public parking spaces are located quite far away, it is best to get to Metropolis using the Moscow subway.
The Metropolis project brilliantly implements the “city within a city” concept - there are shops and entertainment for every taste, and the monstrous food court is generally considered the largest in Moscow. Of course, all popular brands are represented here, and the local H&M is generally the best in the capital (two floors, men's, women's and children's collections, the most fashionable lines).
Yell rating: 4.3
A gigantic, almost immense shopping center on the edge of Prospekt Mira, considered the largest in Europe until 2014. The main disadvantage is that you can really get lost in Golden Babylon, and the path from the store to the car left in the parking lot can take 20-30 minutes at a leisurely pace. By the way, the parking lot is very large - you can use the three-level parking lot, or you can park your car in the parking area adjacent to the center. For free!
For those who decide to go to this shopping center on public transport, there are free buses departing from the Sviblovo, VDNH, Babushkinskaya and Otradnoe metro stations.
In addition to numerous stores of all possible brands (from top and mass brands and even handmade ones), there is a 14-screen Luxor multiplex, a bowling alley, a sports bar and mechanical dinosaurs in DinoCity. Golden Babylon is full of entertainment for adults and children.
Yell rating: 5.0
The first place in our ranking was occupied by the largest shopping center in Europe, which took this title from Golden Babylon. It is relatively new (opened in 2014), and therefore almost half empty - it is not very conveniently located relative to metro stations (the nearest station is more than a kilometer away, although free buses are also provided), and there are not very many people inside. But there is a huge parking lot, and for now it is free (but sooner or later you will still have to pay, so seize the moment).
Naturally, there are every store you can imagine, and even a week of continuous shopping is not enough to see them all. The calling card of the Aviapark is the largest vertical aquarium in the world with more than three thousand exotic fish. There are always crowds around the huge transparent pillar 23 meters high. It seems that this detail of the interior of the Airpark attracts more attention than any store.
It is possible that someone comes to the Aviapark just for the aquarium.
We have a tradition in our editorial office: every two to three years we analyze the market of existing shopping centers in the capital and select the ten most large-scale projects. Over the past 15 years, since the appearance of the first world-class shopping malls in Moscow, their sizes have grown so much that the 7-level shopping center "European", the most visited shopping center in Moscow, today barely ranks among the top ten supergiants, and the shopping center "Aviapark" "In terms of its size, it has no equal in all of Europe.
As before, we focused on professional shopping centers, without considering specialized trading platforms and retail parks. And they ranked the largest objects by net retail space(GLA). At the same time, we decided to slightly change the format of our rating. Behind last years the market was not growing so rapidly, and only a few truly large malls were opened. Therefore, we decided to create a list of the largest shopping centers located within the city, without including objects located on the Moscow Ring Road and cities in the nearest Moscow region. And this is what happened.
Airpark - 230,000 sq.m.
The Aviapark shopping center on Khodynskoye Pole, which opened at the end of 2014, has no plans to concede its status as the largest shopping center either in Moscow or in Russia as a whole in the foreseeable future. For almost four years, the mall, worth $1 billion, has become a real home for the opening of flagship stores of world brands and a leader in Moscow in terms of the share of space allocated to cafes and restaurants. Today, Aviapark is more than 95% full. At the beginning of 2018, a new CSKA metro station opened next to the shopping center, and in the very near future, another center of attraction here will be the huge Khodynskoye Pole city park.
Golden Babylon - 171,500 sq.m.
The flagship “Golden Babylon” on Mira Avenue in the Rostokino district is awaiting big changes. The second largest shopping mall within Moscow changed its owner at the end of 2017. And its age is already respectable: having amazed with its scale in 2009, today “Golden Babylon” looks outdated. The work will be carried out according to the design of Blank Architects. The façade of the complex will receive a new modern design, and the architectural, planning and interior solutions of the complex will be updated. At the first shopping level of the complex there will be a Central Plaza, lounge areas, the share of food and entertainment operators will increase, and the food court will be reconstructed. Finally, the shopping gallery will receive a fresh pool of tenants. In general, instead of the boring old stuff, there will be a lot of new interesting things.
P.S. Yes, by the way, the old brand will also be abandoned in favor of a more concise one. The updated shopping center will be called “Europolis Rostokino”.
Columbus - 136,000 sq.m.
The largest shopping center in the south of the capital, Columbus, keeps up with the times, attracting quality fashion gallery operators, expanding the area of children's goods and restaurants. Columbus features five shopping levels with strong anchors of the most popular formats, flagship stores of fashion brands and a powerful entertainment function. IN different time the object was of interest to the PIK group, structures " Kievskaya Square" and even Morgan Stanley. According to expert estimates, Columbus is one of the top shopping malls in the capital and costs at least $550 million.
Metropolis - 118,000 sq.m.
Universally recognized as one of the best shopping centers thanks to the successful Mix & Match concept, Metropolis strengthened its position in the summer of 2016 with the opening of a second building with an area of about 38,000 sq.m. - plus 110 tastefully selected stores, 13 new cafes and restaurants and a winter garden, as well as non-trivial design of shopping galleries and many fresh ideas for those who are tired of everything. It turns out that today, under one roof of Metropolis, Max Mara and Converse, TSUM Discount and Gap, Hugo Boss and Victoria's Secret, Scotch & Soda and Longchamp coexist perfectly and find their audiences. And how do they manage to combine all this?
Afimall City - 114,200 sq.m.
Having survived the rather difficult first years after its opening, Afimall City received the status of one of the largest modern trading platforms within the Third Transport Ring. Today, following one of the main trends in the market, the shopping center is one of the top three in terms of the share of food & beverage tenants in Russia. Afimall 2018 version has about 400 stores, more than 30 cafes, restaurants and coffee shops, a large food court and, of course, the now business card a transparent dome with an area of 10,000 sq.m., into which the Moscow City skyscrapers can be seen.
Riviera - 97,000 sq.m.
The Riviera shopping center in the reconstructed ZIL industrial zone in the Danilovsky district of Moscow is the largest project in recent years implemented within the Third Transport Ring. Its construction as the “River Mall” began back in 2006, and was completed, after repeated changes of owners and key parameters, in 2016. Today, the shopping center on Avtozavodskaya Street is a high-quality mall in the lifestyle concept, with cinema, fitness, a wide selection of entertainment and a fairly standard pool of shopping gallery tenants for Moscow malls.
City - 97,000 sq.m.
The Gorod shopping center on Entuziastov Highway was opened in 2009, in the wake of the growing popularity of the super-regional format in the Russian capital. The main emphasis in attracting the audience of the complex over the past nine years has not changed - this is a large number of truly strong “anchors”. Another one interesting feature complex: half of the third, as well as the entire fourth floor of the complex is occupied by furniture and household goods stores. The fashion gallery in Gorod combines global brands and stores of Russian federal chains. And the Gorod shopping center remains the only shopping center in Moscow that integrates not just an ice rink, but a real hockey center.
European - 74,300 sq.m.
It’s hard to believe, but the Evropeisky shopping center, conveniently located between Dorogomilovskaya Street and the square Kievsky railway station, will soon be 12 years old! After the opening, “European” became a real gateway for dozens of world brands to enter Russia. It was not closed for reconstruction, but all these years, thanks to an effective rental policy, it continues to be the focus of attention for connoisseurs of quality shopping. According to unofficial data, even today, when the market for quality shopping centers in Moscow has grown several times, “European” remains the most visited mall in the Russian capital (5-6 million people per month) and is one of the five most popular in the world.
Kashirskaya Plaza - 71,000 sq.m.
“Kashirskaya Plaza” is the flagship project of the Enka company, which is building shopping malls of a regional scale on the site of regional shopping centers of the Capitol chain. At the same time, this is the newest and most modern shopping complex on the Moscow market - its opening took place only three months ago. The Californian bureau Jerde, known for its Mall of America project, worked on the bright architectural concept of the mall. The traditional “anchors” are accompanied by stores of international brands in flagship concepts, and the “highlight” of the mall is the exploitable roof with a summer cinema, swimming pool, restaurants and sports grounds.
Kuntsevo Plaza - 65,000 sq.m.
Another ultra-modern shopping center on the site of the Capitol was opened three years ago in Kuntsevo in the west of the capital. The Kuntsevo Plaza shopping center took about four years to build and has become an exemplary mall, combining unusual architectural solutions with fashion brands, interesting restaurant concepts with trendy spaces for relaxation and communication. We can say that it was with Kuntsevo Plaza that the trend began to open iconic restaurants inside shopping centers, which were previously presented only in street retail. And the shopping gallery of the complex can boast of names that are hard to find among competitors - Maje, Pinko, Michael Kors, Gaastra, etc.
At the site of the V International Real Estate Investment Forum PROEstate (St. Petersburg), the first rating of “100 Best Shopping Centers in Russia” was presented, compiled by experts from the Guild of Managers and Developers. A correspondent for the business magazine “Fashionable Magazin” found out which shopping centers and shopping centers made it into the TOP 100 and why.
The rating includes 100 of the highest quality, according to market experts, shopping and shopping and entertainment complexes in the country. In 2011, the Guild’s Committee for Retail Real Estate assessed more than 300 properties in 14 cities of Russia, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Volgograd and others. In each city, an expert commission was formed from participants in the retail real estate market: representatives of developers, consultants, management companies, service companies, who collected information and further assessed the objects.
— The rating determines the best, but does not rank objects, does not compare them and does not place them in place. Also, the rating does not divide retail real estate into groups or classes,” noted the Chairman of the Committee on Retail Real Estate of the State Property Management Department during the presentation of the project, managing partner of London Consulting&Management Company | LCMC Dmitry Zolin. — We allow for a certain subjectivity when compiling the rating, however, when assessing objects, we tried to adhere as much as possible to the specified standards and the developed assessment methodology. We hope that the rating will become a useful innovation for all market participants: retailers will receive a convenient tool for comparing different shopping centers, and owners and management companies will receive an additional means of positioning the property on the market. Consumers, in turn, will be able to use objective information from market professionals to choose where to shop and spend their leisure time.
Experts consider only existing high-quality shopping centers with an area of 5 thousand square meters or more. meters. The evaluation criteria were developed by specialists from the Guild of Managers and Developers and include more than 30 parameters that affect both the overall quality of the facility itself and the comfort of working and staying in the shopping center.
— The total number of objects presented in the rating was distributed among the cities participating in the project in proportion to their population. As a result, St. Petersburg received a quota for 17 shopping centers, Kazan - 5 shopping centers, Omsk - 4 shopping centers, Samara Region - 5 and so on, - explained to Fashion Magazin member of the Expert Commission of the State Budgetary Inspectorate Lyudmila Reva, director of business development at Astera in alliance with BNP Paribas Real Estate.
The geography of the project will expand annually, and ultimately the “100 Best Shopping Centers in Russia” project will cover almost all cities of Russia.
