Unlike most attractions of Crimea, the history of the Swallow's Nest does not go back centuries. It began at the end of the nineteenth century with the construction of a wooden house, called the Swallow's Nest by the owner. However, this building was later demolished, and by 1912, a miniature Gothic castle, built by order of one of the Baku oil industrialists, already stood in its place. It is this masterpiece of architecture that is now known as the Swallow's Nest, although it has changed slightly after the earthquake of 1927 and the subsequent reconstruction.
In the twentieth century, the building was empty for a long time, because it was in disrepair, and after a new reconstruction it became open to the public again. Recently, an art exhibition dedicated to the famous master of landscapes Arkhip Kuindzhi opened there.
Due to its amazing beauty, Swallow's Nest has repeatedly become the object of close attention of filmmakers. It was here that such masterpieces of Soviet cinema as “Ten Little Indians”, “Mio, My Mio” and “The Blue Bird” were filmed.
Swallow's Nest is a place with an amazing atmosphere that is worth experiencing in person.
Gurzuf
A picturesque place, clean air and turquoise sea water! Gurzuf is an urban village located between Alushta and Yalta. The picturesque surroundings of Gurzuf, narrow streets, equipped beaches, and the absence of a large amount of transport always attract residents of large cities who want to relax by the sea and be closer to the exotic, southern coastal nature. A very interesting mountain is Ayu-Dag - which means Bear Mountain. If you look from the western side, the shape of the mountain resembles a huge bear drinking water from the Black Sea, there is a legend about which local guides will be happy to tell you!

Livadia Palace
This palace is a wonderful example of nineteenth-century architecture. Over its more than one and a half century history, the Livadia Palace has many times become the place of great achievements.
Perhaps the first significant event in its history was its assignment in 1861 of the status of a summer residence of the Russian imperial family. Between this moment and the death of Emperor Alexander III at the Livadia Palace in 1894, the architectural ensemble underwent restructuring and expansion, for example, at this time the Small Palace (destroyed during the Second World War) and the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross were built. Under Emperor Nicholas II, construction continued, and the White Palace was built on the site of the old Grand Palace, and buildings such as the palace of the minister of the court, Baron Fredericks, also appeared. After the establishment of Soviet power, the Livadia Palace managed to be both a sanatorium for peasants and a climatic treatment plant, until 1945 came. In 1945, the famous Yalta Conference took place in the Livadia Palace, which largely determined the course of history in the post-war world. The American delegation led by US President Franklin Roosevelt was also located in the palace during the conference. The seventies of the twentieth century for the Livadia Palace became the time of the opening of a museum in it with two exhibitions - historical-memorial and exhibition. In the present, they have been transformed into exhibitions about the Yalta Conference and the history of the stay of the Russian imperial family in the Livadia Palace, respectively. Also in 1977, the famous film “Dog in the Manger” was filmed in Livadia.
In addition to its cultural significance, the Livadia Palace is now famous for the cardiological sanatorium “Livadia” and the widely known Livadia Park, which is quite capable of impressing with its size. Livadia Palace is one of those interesting places worth visiting in Crimea.
The garden was created in 1812 by decree of Emperor Alexander I; its plan was developed by the famous Stephen. Today, the garden is not only a stunningly beautiful place to stroll, but is also a research facility developing new milestones in botany and fertility.
The garden area can be divided into 3 large and one small parks. The paved paths of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, winding, lead enchanted tourists either into dense thickets or to magnificent open observation platforms, from which a breathtaking panorama opens to the tops of centuries-old relict trees.
The upper park has long been an arboretum, today there are dense tennis plantings that turn into open lawns. The park is located on a flat surface, this is where the front swimming pool, rose garden, fountains and forged arches are located. And also a magnificent rocky garden, crowned with alpine plants, surrounded by cypress trees, milkweed. And how beautiful the collection of chrysanthemums is, what aromas are in the air!
The lower park is located on a rocky slope. The ancient terraces are intertwined with staircases. Water plays not only the role of a means of irrigation, but also a decorative element. There are several interesting pools, fountains, and all kinds of streams that turn into a fountain or a cascade. There are water lilies and papyrus in the water of the fountain. This is where the most valuable species of fruit and ornamental trees grow. The park is also decorated with a long Palm Alley, which reveals to guests many varieties of palm trees, and a sculpture of a Boy taking out a splinter.
The Primorsky Park in Nikitsky Garden was founded to mark the centenary of the garden. The park is located on an area adjacent to the sea. It is here that guests will see a collection of subtropical heat-loving plants. The youngest park in Nikitsky Garden - Montedor, created about 50 years ago, greets visitors with junipers, fluffy oak, relict pine trees and metasequoia.
Flower balls are held annually in the Nikitsky Garden. It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful sight!
You can get to the garden either by numerous excursion buses or by any minibus from Simferopol towards Yalta.
The Wax Museum
Every year, during the holiday season, in the very center of Yalta, in a building that belongs to the local history museum, a museum of wax figures made in St. Petersburg opens its doors.
Here you can admire wax doubles of famous actors, musicians, and historical figures - from kings to current politicians. In general, the museum is a great place for those visitors who just want to have fun or take a closer look at famous people in detail, as well as learn something interesting and new - in principle, for all categories of vacationers and city residents.
Glade of Fairy Tales
Attractions vary. Some of them arise due to nature, while others are born due to human diligence and skill. There are, however, those that combine the brush of nature and the chisel of man. These include the Glade of Fairy Tales in Crimea.
It is located not far from Yalta, and the place for its placement was chosen extremely well. Glade of Fairy Tales is inscribed in a very picturesque forest, on the edge of which the main exhibition is located. This is, of course, a very good decision, because the images of such famous fairy-tale characters as Leshy or Baba Yaga look surprisingly natural against the backdrop of a forest landscape. In total, more than two hundred sculptures from the best cartoons, children's books and folk tales, made by masters from different countries, found their home in the Glade of Fairy Tales.
In order for the figures to fit into the nature surrounding them as successfully as possible, as a rule, the method of florism is used, which consists in taking as the basis of the work a certain object (for example, a boulder or a stump), which initially has some resemblance to the fairy-tale hero whom is going to portray the master. Glade of Fairy Tales is a wonderful vacation spot for adults and children, allowing you to feel the fairy-tale atmosphere and immerse yourself in memories of your favorite fairy-tale characters, as well as learn a lot of new and interesting things. This cannot be ignored!
Foros Park
Foros Park was founded in the 19th century. But initially it was just a deserted area with one fountain. In 1885, the new owner of these lands, merchant Alexander Kuznetsov, decided to completely transform the park and after 5-6 years he achieved what he wanted, spending a huge amount of money on it. A large number of rare plants that do not grow in this area, but are able to adapt, were brought to the park.
The area of the current park is 70 hectares, of which 30 are reserved for cultural plantings, and the remaining 40 are a large forest park area. The park features more than 350 species of trees and shrubs. Of particular interest is the paradise - six lakes located at different levels, connected to each other by a small channel. The park is declared a monument of landscape architecture and is protected by law.

Massandra beach
Massandra beach, like a magnet, attracts numerous city guests. Firstly, it is very conveniently located, and secondly, there is a lot of entertainment here. This is a real sea paradise, where life does not cease for a moment. During the day you can sunbathe and swim to your heart's content, and in the evening tourists love to leisurely stroll along the coast, where Yalta's nightlife is vibrant.
Massandra beach is considered one of the best in Yalta, but probably its main disadvantage is the huge number of vacationers at the height of the season - it seems that there is nowhere for the apple to fall. But if you put this nuance aside, you can have a great time here. Among the entertainment that is offered to tourists, there is everything - both the opportunity to relax and the opportunity to have an incendiary rest.
The beach is a whole complex consisting of six beaches, three of which will impress lovers of increased comfort, and three are more democratic. Almost every corner of the beach has its own interesting history, which makes them especially attractive. Undoubtedly, on Massandra beach you will plunge into a warm atmosphere of pleasure and sunshine.

Today I want to talk about how I first came to Yalta. Ten years have passed, but time has no meaning in this story. My mother and I arrived in Crimea, bought tickets for a sightseeing tour. When the tour group was in Yalta, we had to pay money and join them. As soon as I unzipped the bag, I immediately realized that there's no wallet there. I was robbed, and my mother and I were left without money. Imagine, you can’t even buy some water!
Five years later I met a guy from Yalta. We started a relationship. Now I know the most interesting places of this warm city, because every summer we let's go to his homeland.

Yalta is divided into three main districts: Old city, where the history of the settlement of the first inhabitants began, the new city and Chekhovo. The city also includes the village of Nikita and. That's why, space for walking enough. But, if you are not interested in just walking around the city, I will name interesting routes.

I have been to Yalta many times. When I came here for the first time, I was amazed by the nature: palm trees, mountains, blue sea! It seemed to me that I was in Turkey, and not in Crimea. After swimming to my heart’s content in the sea, I went to explore the local attractions. I’ll tell you about the most amazing places that I remember.
Where did I go in Yalta
Since I love literature very much, in the city guide I immediately looked for attractions associated with great writers and books. Therefore, the first places I went to were the following:
- house-museum of A.P. Chekhov;
- historical and literary museum;
- Memorial Museum of Lesya Ukrainka.
I’ll tell you in more detail about these wonderful museums.
Chekhov's House
When I saw A.P. Chekhov’s house, I gasped. It coincided so much with my ideas. Reading about Chekhov's life, I saw him as neat and sedate. Therefore, no matter how many times I come to Yalta, I still go “to visit” Chekhov every time. I really like his house, imbued with some special atmosphere. Looking at his desk, I imagine Anton Pavlovich, sitting thoughtfully with a pen in his hands... “He’s probably writing the next chapter of The Cherry Orchard,” I think...
Chekhov moved to Yalta for health reasons and lived here until his death. After his death, his sister took over the house and kept the furnishings in the rooms intact.
Yalta Historical and Literary Museum
There is a mysterious atmosphere unique to museums here. And it is created by ancient things, such as:
- photos;
- archaeological finds;
- household items and treasures of ancient peoples;
- valuable jewelry and coins.
With the help of these unique exhibits you can get acquainted with the ancient history of Yalta.
Memorial Museum of L.Ukrainka
Lesya Ukrainka is a famous Ukrainian writer who loved Yalta especially touchingly. And not only because the Crimean climate eased the pain in her bones, but also because Yalta gave her inspiration and strength.
The museum has a large exhibition telling about her creative life.

Summer, heat, vacation! We urgently need to go somewhere and relax. For the third year now, my mother did not go on vacation. Living in Crimea for most of her life, she had never been to Yalta. And for some reason she had a picture in her head and the opinion that in Yalta nothing to do. There seems to be nothing to see there and nowhere to go. This year my family and I decided relax in Yalta, since I didn’t really want to go to foreign resorts, and the budget was very limited, there was a crisis, what can I say. On the very first day of our stay at the resort, we were faced with the question of What interesting things can you see in this city? Luckily, the people who stayed in the hotel next door to us were very nice and were happy to tell us about everything sights of Yalta.
What to see in Yalta
I’ll say right away that our vacation in this beautiful city lasted for a couple of days, since there were many more attractions here than we could have imagined. All this is due to the fact that many interesting places in Yalta are not only in the city itself, but also in its vicinity.
Where to go in Yalta with children
If you are planning go to Yalta with children, then don’t think that they will get bored there. This city has many places that will delight and surprise your little ones.
Firstly, I highly recommend taking your children to Zoo called "Fairy Tale". What I really liked about this place was that at the entrance they sold special food for specific types of animals, respectively. we could treat our little brothers without causing harm to their health.
Secondly, despite the fact that Yalta has a sea, I advise you to go with your child to water park "Atlantis". Everything there is aimed specifically at family vacations, and there are special areas for children, which are designed in the form of various children's cartoons. Also available children's aquadrome, which is called "Seven seas".
And finally, the youngest children should like a place called "Glade of Fairy Tales". The territory of the attraction occupies several kilometers, but you can explore it with a guide sculptures of all fairy-tale characters about an hour, and then independently return with the child to the places where he liked the most.
Where to walk around Yalta
I won’t talk about the competition – it’s a separate topic. And here about the new Yalta- yes, yes. Why new? It’s just that I haven’t been there for 16 years, so I’m new. First of all, I advise you to look, perhaps, the last surviving monument to Lenin of its kind. The mayor of Yalta, in my opinion, made a very wise decision: to postpone the demolition of the monument indefinitely, so as not to traumatize the psyche of the elderly population, for whom this monument means a lot. Well, young fellow, what can you say, an informal approach to caring for pensioners.
Walk along the Yalta embankment- it’s akin to Deribasovskaya in Odessa, it’s simply a sin to miss it. Hold the knee of Anton Palych Chekhov. Again, walking along the streets, squares and open parks is also a sacred thing. Although walking around Yalta is not so pleasant - it’s all hunchbacked and hilly, you can only walk smoothly on the embankment, otherwise it’s uphill and downhill. I can’t even imagine how local girls walk in heels.
Parks in Yalta
You can devote a day to each park - and it won’t be enough. All of them are unique and interesting, time flies in them, and you don’t want to leave this tropical garden and park paradise.
Are you planning a trip to Crimea or have you already arrived and want to get to know it better? Yalta attractions photos local parks, forest routes, historical and natural monuments, architectural structures imbued with the intricacy of destinies will fully be able to give you a complete impression of the beauty of the peninsula. For your convenience, we suggest using the map and reading the description of each attraction.
A popular peak among tourists in the Crimean Mountains, with its highest point being 1234 meters. From the top a magnificent panorama of the surroundings of Yalta opens. The Ai-Petri mountain range is one of the most interesting attractions of Crimea. It stretches for 25 km and covers an area of more than 300 km2.
The pearl of Yalta is considered to be the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which amazes guests and residents with its magnificent architecture. Finding the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is easy - it is located in the very center of Yalta on Sadovaya Street, almost any transport goes here. Anyone can visit it.
The room was built in the courtyard of the France Hotel on the Yalta embankment in 1897 by order of A.I. Roffe, owner of the Roffe and Sons guild. The famous designer Nikolai Krasnov, who had already designed the Livadia Palace, took up the plan.
The 98-meter stream of water literally flies, captivating the heart of everyone who looks at it and hears the stunning melody of water splashes. This natural heritage of Crimea is covered with many interesting legends!
The pedestrian route, two and a half kilometers long, is named after the famous specialist in the treatment of tuberculosis, Fyodor Timofeevich Shtangeev. The traveler will enjoy panoramic views of Yalta and the Crimean Mountains.
It was Yalta that became the city where the famous Russian writer A.P. Chekhov spent his last years. Due to his health, he was forced to move to Crimea, so in 1989 he decided to build a house on a plot of Yalta land. The nickname “Belaya Dacha” was given to the house, which stood out as a bright spot against the background of city streets, by Chekhov’s contemporaries.
It is difficult to find a more suitable place for a pleasant walk at any time of the day or year than the Primorsky Park in Yalta. This amazing place is loved by both locals and resort guests. The park, located at the end of the city embankment, owes its popularity not only to its proximity to the main beach of Yalta, but also to the comfort that surrounds its visitors. There is everything for a good rest: comfortable benches, a pump room with cool spring water, numerous grocery stores and restrooms.
