Jordan resorts. Jordan - we are going on vacation to Jordan, where it is located on the map. What is the name of the sea in Jordan?
0
Discovering new shores and countries is the lot of travelers and tourists. You may ask, how are they different? Well, for example, a traveler loves to discover places that few people have visited before or have not visited at all. But a tourist needs a place where he will feel comfortable and quality rest so you can bask in the sun and swim in the sea. Jordan is a place that will be of interest to both travelers and tourists. The country is very interestingly located on the continent. Its shores are washed by two seas, but the total coastline is so small that there are essentially no resorts here. There are one or two resorts on each sea and that’s it. So a map of Jordan with resorts on the Red Sea may not be useful to you, because on the shores of the Red Sea there is one city, which is a resort - Aqaba. It is this resort that we will talk about today.
As already mentioned, Jordan is washed by two seas: the Red and the Dead. Naturally, those who come to the country for treatment and to prevent diseases choose the Dead Sea, where the water itself heals and heals. Tourists who prefer beach holidays relax on the shores of the Red Sea. To be fair, it should be said that the Red Sea approaches the shores of Jordan thanks to the Gulf of Aqaba. If it were not for the gulf, Jordan would not have access to the sea in this part of the world. And thanks to the Gulf of Aqaba, the country has access not only to the Red Sea, but also to the Indian Ocean, and then to anywhere in the world.
For this reason, Aqaba is not only resort town, but also a port. True, the port is not large; nevertheless, due to the length of the Red Sea, it is not profitable to bring or take away cargo by sea. It is much more economical to deliver goods by land or across Israel to Mediterranean Sea, and from there by sea to anywhere in the world.
Jordan finds it very difficult to compete with neighboring countries for tourists. firstly, the coastline here is small and it is physically impossible to receive many tourists, so in order to reduce demand, prices are quite high. And secondly. Nearby there are cheaper and no less beautiful countries: Egypt and Israel. Their coastlines are much larger and have a larger selection of hotels and resorts. And Jordan’s proximity to countries such as Iraq and Syria also leaves its mark on the tourism industry. Not many people decide to vacation where there is a war going on literally a few hundred kilometers away.
But be that as it may, Aqaba is a very visited resort in the country. And it’s not just about beaches and beach holidays. Excursion tourism is very well developed here, but what can we say if one of the wonders of the world is nearby - old City Petra. This city is visited by more tourists than the beach area in Jordan, because there are beaches in every country in the world, but such a city is only here.
The road to Petra alone is worth seeing it all. You will walk two kilometers among stones and caves, one hundred meter mountains will rise above you and hang over your heads. This walk takes your breath away. And after half an hour of walking you find yourself at the gate ancient city. Entrance to Petra costs at least $117! Yes, it’s a lot of money, but it’s worth it, and the city must be maintained and maintained in such a condition that it stands and delights tourists for many years to come.
The most best time to visit Jordan for beach holiday– this is spring and June. These days it is not hot here, the weather is quite pleasant. Starting from mid-summer, the heat begins, there is not a single cloud in the sky. It’s better not to come here these days; during the day it’s up to +40 in the shade!
There is only one resort on the Red Sea in Jordan. But the map will still be useful to you. Thanks to the interactive map, you can zoom in so you can see the resort's streets, coastline and everything in between. With the help of a map, you will determine where and what is located and can easily move around independently.
The Kingdom of Jordan is a beach holiday and treatment on the coasts of the Red and Dead Sea, the rock city of Petra and the entertainment of the resort of Aqaba, sightseeing tours all year round And best hotels Middle East. Everything about Jordan: map, photos, weather and reviews from tourists.
- Last minute tours Worldwide
The Kingdom of Jordan is equal to Israel plus visa formalities minus sectarian strife. The constants of this equation are a rich “excursion”, the Dead Sea, diving, snorkeling and the vast expanses of the Wadi Rum desert. Country with thousand years of history- the cradle of civilization, one of the main cultural centers in the Middle East - is actively developing its tourism potential.
Regions and resorts of Jordan
Capital ancient state- Amman, unexpectedly modern and dynamic. Moreover, his age “according to the passport” is very impressive: already in the 13th century BC. e. it was known as Rabbath-Ammon, the center of the kingdom of Ammon. But today only a few Greco-Roman monuments, concentrated in the Old Town, remind us of distant times, and they are unlikely to be enough to satisfy fans of the historical “excursion”.
It’s worth going to Amman to feel the rhythm of life in a modern Arab metropolis with business centers, shopping malls, restaurants and art galleries that have grown up in the middle of poor neighborhoods.

How to get to Jordan
Main international Airport Jordan is located in the vicinity of Amman and is named after Queen Alia. Direct flights from Moscow are offered by Royal Jordanian (530 USD one way) and Es Seven (421 USD), all departing from Domodedovo, duration - 4.5 hours. From airport to city
Shuttle buses deliver to the center of Amman, running every half hour between the airport and Northern bus station(travel is about 5 JOD), as well as a taxi (39-50 JOD, more expensive at night). Transport
National carrier Royal Jordanian operates regular direct flights from Amman to Aqaba, starting from JOD 67 one way and lasting 55 minutes. There are no other domestic flights in the country, but intercity bus service is well established. Jett transport runs between major settlements (office website in English), tickets can be purchased at bus station ticket offices (preferably a few hours before departure) or by phone.
You can only travel between small towns by private buses: their network of routes is more extensive, tickets are cheap, but there is no schedule, and traveling in perpetually crowded cabins without air conditioning is hardly a pleasure for passengers. Railway while he is bored with nothing to do: previously, trains regularly ran from Amman to Damascus via Ez-Zarqa, but due to civil war in Syria they were canceled.
Public transport within cities
The structure of public transport is more or less streamlined only in the capital: in the rest populated areas the movement is chaotic. You can travel within cities by buses, minibuses and “services” - 5-7-seater cars that depart along a given route as the cabin fills up.
Navigation on the Jordanian streets is extremely confusing: the names of stops and destinations are indicated in Arabic, so you cannot do without a good map and the help of local residents (of course, very conditional - only a few understand English).
The fare is paid directly to the driver, a half-hour trip around the capital costs an average of 0.50 JOD, you can get to the suburbs for 1.50-3 JOD (in “services” you will have to pay twice as much). In Amman public transport runs quite often, whereas in the outback there is a risk of being stuck at a stop for half a day.
Taxis are ubiquitous; most capital cars are equipped with meters and air conditioning. Taxis can be caught on the street, called by phone or found at special parking lots. The average landing cost is 0.3 JOD, each km is 0.50 JOD, at night rates double. The amount on the counter can be indicated in pre-inflationary fils: for example, 700 fils is 0.70 JOD. It is worth having small coins in your pocket (taxi drivers often do not give change), and if the price is too high, feel free to bargain without succumbing to the tricks of cunning drivers.

Rent a Car
The country has both international and small local rental companies. To rent a car you will need an international driving license and credit card(only for short stay in the country). Depending on the class of the car, a deposit of 150 to 500 USD is blocked on the card. It is somewhat cheaper to rent a car through a travel agency than directly.
Renting a standard car costs from 60 JOD, a premium model - from 90 JOD, a minivan - from 150 JOD per day. The cost of gasoline in Jordan is 0.94-0.98 JOD per 1 liter.
Rented vehicles are distinguished from others by green license plates. The cars have the same numbers travel companies. Driving a rented car outside of Jordan is prohibited. Traffic in the country is on the right. In Amman and Irbid, traffic is crazy: the streets are congested, traffic jams are huge, and drivers are generally polite, but not too careful. Most central parking lots are paid, marked with special signs or blue and white markings (after 19:00 and on weekends, parking is usually free). You can also leave your car near shopping centers, supermarkets and residential buildings, if there are no prohibitory signs nearby: most likely you won’t have to pay.
Inscriptions on road signs are in Arabic and English languages. There are also special brown tourist road signs showing the direction and directions to popular attractions.
In the event of an accident due to the fault of a tourist, the deposit from his card is paid to the police (according to the traffic law of the Kingdom of Jordan). If the amount of damage exceeds the amount of the deposit, all necessary expenses for repairing the car are paid by the person responsible for the accident. The police are polite with tourists: the main thing is to behave appropriately in response.
Communications and Wi-Fi
Net mobile communications covers the territory of the capital, major cities and resorts. The main Jordanian operators are Zain, Orange and Umniah. Prepaid SIM cards are sold at branded kiosks at airports, shopping centers and supermarkets. To connect, you need to present your passport and fill out a form; it is better to ask the seller to activate the SIM card; the balance is replenished using scratch cards.
Orange has packages starting from 6 JOD per week (1 GB of mobile data, 60 minutes of free calls and unlimited SMS to local numbers). Negotiations with Russia cost 0.35 JOD per minute.
You can also call home from pay phones that accept cards with a face value of 1-20 JOD. They are sold at newsstands and post offices, but international communications are quite expensive.
Internet access is provided in most large hotels (this pleasure costs 10 JOD per day) and numerous Internet cafes open in Amman and at resorts (connection hour - 2-3 JOD). Wi-Fi is also available in catering establishments, but most often it is paid (on average 5 JOD per hour) and at low speed. A pleasant exception is some coffee shops and eateries where you can go online for free. And in order to constantly stay online, it is better to connect a SIM card from one of the operators.
Jordan Hotels
Aqaba hotels are located both in the city itself and in the suburb of Tala Bay. On first coastline fashionable “fives” were lined up, a little further away - comfortable “fours” and “three rubles”. There are fewer hotels in the Dead Sea, but the entire resort infrastructure is concentrated in them: from restaurants and entertainment centers to spas with treatments based on natural ingredients.
The voltage in the Jordanian electrical network is 230 V, the sockets are both familiar European (types C and F) and three-pin, for which an adapter is needed.
Police - 192, traffic police - 843-402, ambulance - 193, fire service (Amman) - 462-20-90, single telephone emergency service - 196.
City codes: Amman - 6, Aqaba - 3.

Pilgrimage
The Holy Land is a Middle Eastern territory between the Mediterranean, Red and Dead Seas, Lake Kinneret and the Jordan River - a very special place for Christians, Muslims and Jews. It was here that the main events described in the holy books of three world religions took place, it was here that the earthly path Christ. Once united, ancient Palestine is today divided into several states: Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan are full of reminders of a great past.
Thousands of pilgrims annually strive to visit the Holy Land, venerate the shrines and gain a unique spiritual experience. Most routes cover several countries at once, but Jordan deserves a separate visit. To begin the pilgrimage, Moses saw the Promised Land for the first time, and at the site where the Church of Our Lady of Anjar stands today, Christ and Mary stopped on their way from the Sea of Galilee to Jerusalem. The Savior was baptized in the Jordan River, and if the entrance to the symbolic bath on the Israeli bank is paid, then from the Jordanian bank you can plunge into the sacred waters completely freely.
Shopping
From Jordan you can bring Madaba woven rugs, bottles with multi-colored sand from Petra (it is better to buy them in Petra itself - there is natural sand of different colors from the canyons of the rock city, and not artificially colored, as in most other places), crafts from olive wood, ceramics and copper utensils, jewelry, Bedouin black silver jewelry and much more. Jordanian cosmetics based on Dead Sea products are very popular.
Incredible, but true: traditional “eastern” bargaining is practically absent in Jordan. Prices, if they are reduced, are not by much, and mostly by Bedouin boys selling souvenirs in Petra. In shops and stores, sellers behave extremely attentively, politely and always with dignity: no one allows themselves to grab sleeves or other Middle Eastern attributes.
Friday is a public holiday in Jordan. Christian-owned shops may also be closed on Sunday. There is no uniform operating schedule for retail outlets: each owner determines it himself.
If a tourist suddenly becomes obsessed with the idea of personally collecting dirt directly from the shore of the Dead Sea, you can ask one of the staff at a coastal hotel to help in searching for it on the shore. The service will cost 1-3 JOD, depending on the difficulties associated with its provision and the amount of goods obtained. The best mud is “radically black” and can be transported in several nested plastic bags. We advise you not to engage in independent “dirt-searching” activities.
Cuisine and restaurants of Jordan
Jordanian cuisine is generally faithful to Arab culinary traditions, but has many characteristic features. Contrary to popular belief, local dishes are not as hot and spicy as people usually think. But everywhere, mint, various greens and herbs, lemons, onions, pickled olives, and pine nuts are added to food. Popular appetizers include salads, stews, pastries with various fillings, as well as dishes made from finely pureed peas and herbs - falafel and hummus.
In addition to various types of pita bread and “ragyf” bread, “kmazh” flatbreads are popular in the country, which are often used as a kind of “edible spoons”. Meat dishes- most often chicken, lamb or veal with rice or potatoes. Traditional side dishes - different types salads and stews.
The sweets here are considered some of the best in the Arab world. These are cookies sprinkled with sesame seeds, “baklava” (baklava) with pistachios, the famous “kanaf” with cheese, “kataef” pies, “javafa” guava dessert, excellent ice cream, candied fruit.
Alcoholic drinks can be purchased at any time except the month of Muslim fasting. Among the local strong drinks, it is worth trying “arak” with the smell and taste of anise, it is diluted with water. The wines are also quite good. Beer is offered in many cafes and restaurants (but not all) and sold in specialized stores.
Street food like shawarma or fruit mixes costs 2-3 JOD. Lunch in a mid-range cafe in the capital costs 7-10 JOD, dinner in an Aqaba restaurant costs 20-30 JOD for two, excluding alcohol.
The best Jordanian eateries are concentrated in Amman: spacious, decorated with oriental flavor, they offer all kinds of National dishes performed by talented chefs. Restaurants are open for the most demanding gourmets haute cuisine with the same high prices. In the neighborhood there are more affordable pizzerias, steakhouses, coffee shops, gelaterias and chain eateries, so there will be no problems with the usual European food. In the vicinity of Jerash, Arabic cafes are notable, where vegetables and bread are baked on stones in huge traditional ovens. The pride of Aqaba is its fish restaurants, popular not only among tourists, but also among local residents.

Holidays and Events
West New Year January 1 is celebrated in Jordan: tourists from all over the world come to the shores of the Red and Dead Seas for the winter vacation. The Muslim equivalent is Ras al-Sana: the beginning of the first lunar month of Muharram and a reason for celebrations throughout the country. January 15 is the Day of the Tree, or rather the palm tree, revered in the Middle East since biblical times: the Virgin Mary gave birth to the baby Jesus under the palm tree, and at the beginning of winter, Jordanians actively plant new trees to the delight of environmentalists.
People in Jordan love sports: on fine spring days they organize the Dead Sea Ultramarathon under the patronage of the royal family, and also a prestigious car rally in the vicinity of Jerash.
In February, a traditional arts festival dedicated to Bedouin culture is held in Aqaba, in March-April in Amman there is an International Theater Festival, turning the capital into a grandiose stage, and at the end of summer in Jerash there is an arts festival with concerts and fairs against the backdrop of ruins. Twice a year the kings are congratulated on their birthday: January 30 - Abdullah, November 14 - Hussein.
March 21 - Mother's Day, May 25 - Independence Day, June 10 - Army Day with large-scale parades in the presence of crowned heads. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of fasting, which is obligatory in the month of Ramadan, Eid al-Adha symbolizes absolute faith in the Almighty. And on December 25, Catholic families gather at the festive table in honor of the Nativity of Christ: it cannot be otherwise in the Holy Land.
The cradle of civilization is usually chosen by tourists who want to improve their health in spa centers, rejuvenate with healing mud and enrich themselves spiritually by visiting legendary attractions associated with biblical stories. As a rule, they are primarily interested in what sea in Jordan: warm or cool, is it possible to go diving there or improve your health for the whole year? We will tell you about all the features and pitfalls in this article.
Jordan was lucky to receive two small pieces of the most attractive seas for travelers: the Red and the Dead. Both are quite warm at any time of the year, the water temperature rarely drops below 21 degrees. If people usually go to the Dead Sea to get rid of ailments, then the depths of the Red Sea will be of interest to those who like to soak in the waves.
Dead Sea
On Dead sea in Jordan There are a lot of health spa centers and clinics. It is better, of course, not to bring yourself to serious illness, but to relax prophylactically during a massage with healing mud. The sea air, saturated with salt, gives strength. On average, prices for procedures start from 60 dinars.
Be sure to consult your doctor before your trip - the sea waters are so salty that unnecessary swimming will not be beneficial. For the same reason, it is wise to use special pool goggles when taking a dip to protect your eyes. Dense water literally pushes you out, but this does not mean that safety rules should be neglected.
Most of the beaches on the Dead Sea coast belong to hotels, with the possible exception of Amman Beach. The entrance fee is 20 dinars. The banks are very inconvenient from the point of view of entering the water: salt build-ups hurt your legs.
Red sea
In red sea in Jordan You should swim with caution: you can cut yourself on sharp corals, touch a jellyfish or poisonous fish. It is better to go into the water in rubber flip-flops. In the summer, at noon, the sand of the beach is so hot that sunbathing becomes harmful and uncomfortable. But here it is very interesting for both beginners and professional divers: bright undersea world gladly demonstrates herself in all her glory. The water off the coast is very clean and clear, so you can dive with a mask and snorkel - of course, with the utmost caution. Please note that samples of flora and fauna obtained from the Red Sea are strictly prohibited from being exported from Jordan - even a small piece of coral will cause serious problems. You can only observe the pristine beauty of the sea - there are significantly fewer tourists here than in Egypt, so there is much more freedom in terms of exploring the underwater depths. The “Aquarium” dive site is famous for the most beautiful and nimble fish, in the “Coral Garden” you can come face to face with a moray eel, “Paradise” is literally buried in corals, and “Moon Valley” resembles a surreal desert. The Pride of the Cedar provides excellent photographs – an avid diver, King Abdullah ordered the sinking of a cargo ship there.
You can improve your health on Krasnoye sea in Jordan – southern resort Akaba specializes in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Pleasant treatments like seaweed wraps and hydromassages will help you lose weight and improve your well-being, while water with calcium improves metabolism.
Jordan does not have as long a coastline on the Red Sea as Egypt and Saudi Arabia, therefore, many resorts simply could not fit on a coast about 27 km long. What resorts are there in Jordan on the Red Sea? There are two resorts here, although they are often considered as one resort area. We are talking about Aqaba and Tala Bay, which is considered to be part of the resort area of Aqaba, although it is located about 15 km south of this city. Where to relax in Jordan on the Red Sea? If you want to enjoy relaxing holiday on the seashore, then the best option Tala Bay will be for you. Aqaba is a noisier resort with many shops, restaurants and cafes, so if you want to be closer to civilization, we recommend choosing Aqaba.
Jordan's resorts on the Red Sea offer excellent conditions for beach holidays, diving and snorkeling. That is why many tourists from Russia went here after the ban on the sale of tours in Egypt was introduced. Today, Jordan's Red Sea resorts have only a few good beach hotels, although this area has great potential. True, despite the fact that most of the Red Sea coast in Jordan remains undeveloped, active construction of hotels should not be expected here, since the Jordanian government cares about the cleanliness of coastal waters.
Jordan has several beaches on the Red Sea coast. Some hotels in the area are located next to their own beach and offer free access to this beach for their guests. Other hotels are located far from the beaches, but often offer their guests a transfer to a private beach. Those who do not have the opportunity to relax on a private beach for free have several options: go to Aqaba City Beach, go to South Beach or go to one of the beach clubs.
Aqaba city beach is not best place for tourists as there are many locals here. South Beach is also often visited by tourists local residents, but the beach itself is quite large, so you can find a secluded spot for yourself. If you want to enjoy a beach holiday in comfortable conditions, then it is better to go to a beach club. However, remember that the cost of entry to a beach club can range from 10 to 20 Jordanian dinars per person.
If you want to enjoy a beach holiday in Jordan in "Egyptian style", we advise you to choose one of the following hotels: Kempinski Hotel Aqaba, Radisson Blu Tala Bay Resort, Marina Plaza Resort Tala Bay. The first hotel is not suitable for budget travelers, while the second and third hotels are good options for an all-inclusive beach holiday. Moreover, the Radisson Blu Tala Bay Resort can be compared in its level with any average “five” in Sharm el-Sheikh or Hurghada.
You should enjoy a beach holiday in Jordan on the Red Sea if you stay in one of the hotels presented above. Other hotels tend to be a fair distance from the beach, although they almost always offer a free shuttle to some private beach.
How to get to Jordan's Red Sea resorts? There is only one airport in this part - King Hussein Airport in Aqaba. This is a small airport that receives only a few flights per day. It's close to the city, so taxi rides to Aqaba and Tala Bay are inexpensive. Since the airport in Jordan on the Red Sea is small, you won't get lost here. In addition, there is never a rush or queue at the airport, except for the queue at your check-in counter.
In Jordan, on the Red Sea coast, you can relax all year round. However, there are 4 seasons per year: hot, cool and 2 transition seasons. The hot season lasts from June to September and is characterized by high daytime temperatures. The cool season is characterized by low daytime temperatures around 23-27 degrees and cool nights with temperatures of 14-18 degrees. This season lasts from December to March. As for the transition seasons, they last from April to May and from October to November. These seasons offer optimal weather for a beach holiday, since at this time it is not as hot as in summer, but not as cool as in winter.
Of course, you can relax on the opposite bank in Israel, but the prices here are lower. By choosing a tour to, you will be able to save a little without losing the quality of your vacation.
Climate and weather of the Dead Sea
There are no high or low seasons at the Dead Sea - you can swim all year round. However, in the summer it can be stuffy, salt water under the hot sun tightens the skin unpleasantly, and you are constantly thirsty.
If you have a hard time withstanding the heat, it is better to go to the Dead Sea in spring or autumn. If you like fresher weather - in winter. The temperature of the Dead Sea never drops below +20°C, it is comfortable to swim, but there are significantly fewer tourists in December-February.

Dead Sea Hotels
There are few hotels on the Jordanian coast of the Dead Sea, but all are famous the highest level service. Each has swimming pools, spa centers and gyms. Due to the high concentration of salts in the water and the specific nature of recreation, the local infrastructure is not “tailored” for children. A vacation to the Dead Sea is more suitable for relaxed married couples and elderly tourists who care about their health.
Dead Sea beaches
If you are a lover of rocky bottoms, you will love the Dead Sea. The shore here has characteristic salt build-ups and an uneven entrance to the water, but with changing rooms and showers. Almost all beaches belong to hotels, so their territory is cleaned and protected.
Be careful: to get to the Dead Sea, you must stay at a local hotel or pay an entrance fee.
Apart from all kinds of spa services, there is no entertainment at the Dead Sea - you will have to drive around to see the attractions. For example, Mount Nebo is a 15-minute drive from the coast. Tourists love this place for the magnificent panoramic view of the Holy Land from its top.
The neighboring city of Madaba is a cultural heritage of the ancient world. It is famous for its strong school of mosaics, an interesting archaeological museum and numerous churches. It’s hardly worth going to Madaba on purpose, but we recommend stopping by after a holiday at the Dead Sea.
Wadi Mujib Nature Reserve is another fantastic place in western Jordan. This national park with a stormy river flowing through the canyon. Due to the strong elevation difference (1300 meters), backwaters and many small streams form here - a fabulous sight!
Visiting Wadi Mujib is only possible in organized groups with a guide. The daily quota is small (up to 25 people), so it’s worth signing up in advance. There are three “wet” routes in the reserve (part of the way you will have to be up to your neck in water) and one “dry” route; due to the hot climate, hikes start early in the morning.
